Both are excellent fragrances, and very similar DNA, however they are also very different. The biggest differences I get are the opening on Black Iris is much darker and more acrid, it’s almost unpleasant until it settles down, which takes a couple of hours. The original has the freshness which makes it easier on the nose, but the dry down is a little more boring, being a fairly general amber smell, and the smoke tends to dissipate towards the end. I find Black Iris lasts longer and keeps its smokiness to the end, where it plays nicely with the more vanilla accord. I’m leaning more toward Black Iris for that reason- I think it smells better for longer, but the opening is harsh!
I'm an Amouage fan and I own a bottle from Interlude Man and Interlude Black Iris. I'm not so much a fan from flanker, but Interlude Black Iris is a realy good one, so I like both fragrances.
Own vintage non-magnetic cap of Interlude , and also Black Iris . Love both . Amouage rep. at the London boutique (early spring) told me Reflection Man is their best seller for the spring
Prefer Black Iris. I actually bought it. I wanted very much to like the standard Interlude more when I sampled it a year or so ago but couldn’t get past the overpowering oregano. The orris in the flanker really balances the overall composition making it much more wearable though less powerful.

I sampled many Amouage fragrances and came across Honour Man and wonder that not many reviewed this one. For me the first one i really liked from this house. Maybe others missed that mixture of 100 different notes in Honour Man 😂 For me its an awesome balsamic peppery one. Tried Interlude too but fir me its too artistic.

Then I got a sample of the Black Iris version not too long ago, I found it is nice but not unique enough and smell too close to the original that hold me back to purchase a full bottle. The Black Iris is definitely easier to wear and more versatile but it lost the uniqueness of the original. Like you said, you could easily find something that smells like the Black Iris out there or even better. If you are new to Amouage or really interested to get Interlude Man, the Black Iris version maybe a easier to please option for you. But if you already have the original version and loving it, the Black Iris version may disappoint you.
Hi Sebastian, from all of the reviewers i see in youtube i definetely think you have the final word in many fragrances. Its so accurate to make the distinction about beast opening and beast performance. Ive seen a lot of your videos but i dont think i have seen one about beaufort london. Habe you tried or owned the revenant collection? What are your thoughts about it? If you have reviews of that house, im sorry i didnt see that video. Hava a nice weej

Black iris is extremely repulsive, gave me huge headache. I bought it in the morning gave it to my brother in the afternoon , he gave it back in the evening and he asked me not to give him a gift again.
The original for me is what I love and want from interlude, so it's my favourite version. The black iris version is just a restrained version of the original on me and if I wanted that I'd rather just have a different scent , otherwise I'm just left wishing I was wearing the bigger bolder original 🍀

Perhaps the current juice is just dialed back now days... Not sure but if you are saying Interlude is not beast mode now then it has been changed... Great video as always... (I have not smelled Interlude Black Iris... Yet... ^_^)

I used love and wear Epic woman, when I started to buy niche perfumes. Unfortunately my husband hates it, so I stopped wearing it. I recently purchased Jubilation 25 because-- it is so classy. There are a few Amouage I can't stand but in general either you like or dislike the brand they scream quality to me.
I cannot handle Amouge as fragrance house. I bought their 12x -10 discovery set and although premium and high quality granted .... when in the hell can you wear these fragrances??? So so aggressive on the spices and bitter woods and herbs.. just can’t wear them honestly.. has anyone smell Figment Man? Smell like goat shit.. Interlude is an approachable sweet oud by their standards but non are for just tasting. Maybe Dia Man is lovely but other than that.. nope..
