I love the way you start your videos with "Hi friends". 😊❤️ It's fascinating watching you try to figure this new machine, I could watch it all day. My machine is a Brother XM2701. I got rid of my Singer years ago so when I started making masks I had to buy a sewing machine. My old Singer was a lot easier to handle I must say. Very basic.
The Sewing Channel Actually my Brother does do fancy stitches, which I doubt I will use, plus it's got different feet(?) it also has the needle threader which I have finally mastered, other than that it's pretty basic. I'm getting too old to do fancy stuff. Thank you for asking. ☺️
I have always wondered about this sewing machine. Loved your video. Thank you. But I must say, my Juki DX7 is quieter but that could be the placement of the microphone. And the number key pad also has the letters, like on a phone. So when you do embroidery the letters are right there for you to press. The shape and style of it are very similar to the Juki. I don't know what the price comparison is on the two of them. I've had my Juki for three years now and I just love it.
I am going to Alko to purchase my Christmas present, BQ1350. I randomly came across your video this afternoon! :) I will mention you. We purchased my Elna 1010 from Alko 25 years ago. Time for an upgrade!
*_Oh how I love a new machine!!! You will love the BQ1350!!! Let me know if you need help with anything on it....I don't know everything about it but I do use it everyday✅_*
JEALOUS!!! I have a Riccar. I've had it for 30 years and only now it's sounding a little clunky. I keep it oiled and change needles often. But, the other day I sewed over a wire I was using for masks....I think it put it out of whack. But, it keeps chugging along so I won't replace it.....I'm old anyway and a new machine will outlive me for decades..with no one to leave it to! (Why doesn't the younger generation enjoy sewing like my generation did???) But I sure would like a fancy new one like yours. Enjoy! I love your videos. I've only watched the mask ones but will look to see what other videos you've made.
I think with covid more people are realizing that they should learn how to sew. I say get a new machine no matter what age..... live happy my friend ❤️✂️
I have a Juki HZL DX5, a Janome HD9, a Brother 4000 D Innovis (black edition) and a Baby Lock Zeal for a back up machine. It takes so long to have machines serviced nowadays! My Juki and Brother also purrs like your Brother 🥰 I also have a Singer featherweight my husband found at a rummage sale for $5 and it works! I decorate with it in my sewing room and my Bernina quilters edition from 22 years ago was a wonderful machine but they no longer make the circuit boards for it so I’m in the process of gluing beautiful crystals all over it which will finish as a huge beautiful bling machine 😁that I will decorate my sewing room with. She was my baby. I hate I can no longer use her nothing is wrong except the board went out and I kept her in such good condition that I just couldn’t part with her. 😢I also have a beautiful blue and silver Viking 990 from the early nineties that is not working but I keep her because I just love her colors 😍🥰
I have "purchased" (waiting for delivery) a new Brother 1350 --- I can hardly stand it without a machine (2 old machines died within 2 weeks of each other). Been wanting and knowing I needed to make an investment in a new machine --- been looking at the 1350 for several months -- I'm not getting any younger -- SO, now I wait - delivery is sometime near the end of the this month.
That is a great looking machine and it has so many feet to go with it too and it must be easy to keep track of them with the container you received. You must have paid a large price for it and the machine may be worth it though. You should be doing so much quilting with that machine and it's accessories.
I have a 20 year old Husqvarna Freesia that I just love to bits and Janome S7 I picked up this year. The S7 has all the fancy features but I still prefer my straightward Husky.
Hi, i have two old brothers, 3100D (disney machine) and a 4000D (Disney Machine) innovis and i still love them. It took me 10 years of saving from me first catching a glimpse of my wee disney until i could get it. I bought the 2nd one a few years later second hand. They are embroidery machines but come with numerous other feet as well. Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
One of my first choices for a new machine was a PQ 1500! I could not find it anywhere!!! They are sold out of almost all sewing machines everywhere! When I saw this one (in the video) I left alko and kept thinking and thinking/ dreaming about it. So I knew it was the one lol done deal✅
The Sewing Channel oh wow! Well I’m down in Australia and didn’t have any problem getting one. I’ve only had it a couple of months too. Lots of machines sold out here too with more people wanting something to do I guess. I’ve had great luck with Brother machines over the years. Hope yours serves you well... Lindy
Great! I’m still finding new exciting features on my machine as I sew with it. Have fun with it! One thing I just found out is that in order to do free motion quilting without skipped stitches you have to turn the feature on within the settings ✅
Wooh! That's fancy. I'm jealous. 😆 I have a bottom of the line Viking Emerald 116. It's noisy and hops around like a frog but it works alright. I've sewn very basic repairs and I made a few little dresses for my now big girls when they were little but I just started quilting. Something I never thought I'd do. I'm really enjoying it. I made a lap quilt from fabric I had stashed away and my first official quilt is out for long arming. I want to try FMQ but I don't know if my little Emerald will do it. I'm waiting on a dealer who was supposed to be ordering a darning foot for me. I guess these things take time these days. I just claimed an old Montgomery Ward sewing machine a friend was giving away. She said it needs a new belt I can replace very cheap. I don't know the model number yet so we'll see what shape and quality it is once I can get it from her. Wish me luck!
I’m a newbie , I just got the brother Project runway CE1125PRW and I absolutely love it, I’ve tinkered on a machine in the past but since Covid I’ve been making masks : made almost 500 for surrounding nursing homes in my small community . I live in the Bootheel of Missouri. But I plan to try my hand at sewing something else when we get passed this. I’ll be checking out your videos seeing if I can learn how to sew,! That new machine you got looks so fun!!!! Nice to hear someone else call their machine a toy cause that’s what I call mine 😊
I have a 36-year-old Elna Jubile. Its days are numbered. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get a self-threading machine until I saw your new Brother in action. 🙂
I couldn’t believe the sound of it! This is on a totally different level than what I’m used to. I wasn’t kidding- it literally sounds like a kitten purring 😂! My new machine can sew sideways too!!!!!! (I haven’t tried it yet but I watched mark at Alko sewing do it).
I have a Viking Rose bought before my 24 year old daughter was born along with a White Serger. It’s still moving and grooving. I would like to update but no money.😉
Sooooo envious - I use my 30+ year old Janome machine. I keep waiting for it to break down so that I can upgrade but, no luck! Maybe sewing all these masks will do the trick...
Hi from Eastern Pennsylvania! I have two combo machines, one Brother Dreamweaver VM6200D and one Babylock Esante. The Esante needs some service. I’ve been thinking about getting a straight stitch machine or at least one that does not embroider and this one that you got looks great. I love that it comes with an extension table. I did just purchase a Babylock Triumph serger (already have an Imagine), so I need to pay that off before I can purchase another machine......I’m glad you love your local dealer. I bought my Triumph during COVID so I got an incredible deal from my local dealer. They are fabulous people! Anyway, I love my Brother machine so I would not hesitate to purchase another one. 🙂. Congrats on your new toy. Enjoy every moment!
You have a lot of really nice machines! The extension table is really nice- I was looking at the brother PQ1500 for the straight stitch machine but they are sold out everywhere due to covid.
I just got this model yesterday and threading it has been too difficult. We are following the method in the quick start guide that says to press the button to make the picture of a sideways sewing foodt on the display. You did not need to, and none of the staff at the sewing shop did it either. I will try doing it without pressing that button. Although TBH I'm considering getting a charm pack that coordinates with the teal thread I've got in there and I don't know how long it will take to rethread. I'm sure I will figure it out. :)
Howdy neighbor! I'm in central NY 😊 This couldn't have came at a better time! I have a Singer 90S Special Edition that the feed dogs just locked up on so it's either put it in the shop or buy a new machine, or both😁 I am interested in buying a new machine, was thinking of a Juki high speed straight stitch and fixing my singer unless I hear of a better solution. I've been researching online so hopefully you will do another video once you've had time to play with this. Any suggestion from anyone on what is a great machine would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! I'm loving your tutorials...best of luck with your channel!
I was going to get a high speed straight stitch- brother pq 1500 I think is the #. But they were all sold out so I got the one in the video. Many more videos to come. My machine can sew a SIDEWAYS straight stitch !!!!lol
Well I’d have several machines to aid me lol 🤣 seriously though you are right about the other needed stitches- that’s a consideration if you were to only have 1 machine! Good thought!!!🤓
I have purchased the exact same machine. I am in the process of making friends with my new purchase, but I am intimidated. Can you explain the difference between stitches 1 and 2 or stitches 3 and 4?
I don’t believe I’ve come across this one yet, maybe I have! I’m on a mission to find a new machine aka sewing, quilting and embroidery but when I saw the prices . . . I’m certain I passed out! Your machine is beautiful! I know that puppy cost $$$$ but that’s ok, it’s an investment! I’m an occasional sewer so I’m not sure if I really want the embroidery function but definitely the quilting - I only make quilts! Ok I’m done babbling! Have a wonderful week! ❤️
You can probably get the machine I got for under $2000. It retails for $2500. I have made lots of quilts with my old machine. I can’t wait to free motion quilt with this one.
If you still have this machine how do you like it? What's the largest quilt you've quilted on it? I have a little beginner Brother CS7205 which has a really tiny space to the right of the needle (5x5) and boy did I ride the struggle bus when doing the straight line quilting on a little lap quilt (56x41) with I think a very similar blanket back from Walmart that you've used before. It took me days because I was just so frustrated by the lack of room.
I loved my Brother until I got my Juki✅ The Juki is more for someone is quilts ALL the time like me :) The Brother can handle any size quilt in my opinion..you just have to be strong enough to maneuver it around✅
@@TheSewingChannel thank you! I'm trying to make a realistic list of machines to do further research on so I don't make another impulse purchase that ends in regret.
@TheSewingChannel oh absolutely will if I go with a Juki...I don't like making big purchases in person, I ALWAYS cave and end up being suckered by the upsales 🤦🏼♀️
*_Sure! I really do like this machine.....I actually just had it serviced last month....the thread cutter was broke (I actually broke it by trying to get tuffs of thread out of it 😬) I love the knee lift.....I would recommend definitely although I do wish the throat area was larger... I have had no major issues at all with it.✅ I still haven't used it to its capabilities yet 💜_*
My machine is very similar to yours. It's a Brother Simplicity SB3150 which is now discontinued (I guess the two companies stopped their partnership) but it is basically the same as the Babylock Brilliant, which costs a heck of a lot more! It looks the same as yours except for the design elements, and from checking out the features yours has more but all the basic stuff is the same. You will love it! These machines do "purr" and they sew beautifully, and are very sturdy. I got mine in early 2019 from a dealer (it was not sold online or in the big boxes) and I only paid $450 because it was on sale. I feel like I got a great deal! May I ask how much yours costs? Happy sewing!!!
Lucky you! I think that most of the "suggested retail prices" for sewing machines and so many other items are bogus anyway because no one sells stuff for those prices, they are just made up so sellers can appear to give customers a discount! Also what was the Walmart machine that you had for three years? Would you recommend it for beginners on a lower budget?
Brother SQ9185 - one of the best machines ever! That was a few years ago now but I think I have seen them on eBay. Sometimes you can get a real good deal on eBay. And yes you are right about inflated prices. ✅
I just bought this same machine and I'm wondering if you've figured out how to put in the extra spool stand. I removed the top but it appears the bobbin winder is in the way. I can't imagine they'd want me to remove that and I can't find it in the instructions.....probably because I don't know what it's called. LOL
I know! It’s crazy they have no instructions- I didn’t have any either. I do have mine on and I love it! It sort of “slides” in on top but yet hangs off back area. If you look at any of my new videos maybe you can tell how it goes on. ✅
Mentor, OH! Wow! I'm in northeast OH myself. I will have to check it out. I never sewed much except fixing some shirts and stuff so I just have a basic Brother LS-2125 from Wal-Mart but since this mask making started happening I've been putting it to good use. I would love to get something newer though and that looks really nice. It would take me a while to get used to the bobbin being on the top among other things, lol :)
@@TheSewingChannel my bobbin is in the front have to take off the front section to get to it. My bobbin winder is on the top of the machine as well. 🙂 I like the way yours cut the thread as you pull away and auto threading of the needle! 😄💕
Hello, I just came across your machine video, and I'm in the looking market for a new machine... so, now that you have had this machine for a while what do you think is it worth the $$... also I have to ask, is this machine over $1,500... Thanks...
Hi Eva...It's funny you should ask about this machine...I just took it today to get serviced *_for the first time.....It has been great up until a few days ago....but that's expected as I sew almost everyday with it since I got it...they are around $1500-2,000. I have yet to use it to its capacity. I do enjoy it...it's very easy to use. I love the sewing "space" around it...I don't feel cramped. I hope that helped.🤓_*
oh, thank you for all the info... there is a dealer about 40 miles and another dealer about 2 hours from where I live... when I find a machine I'll be back to let you know what happens...
I also have the Brother BQ-1350. I’m a hesitant fan. The needle threader in mine Makes an awful clunk. Also, having trouble making stitch 43 (wave) more narrow. Help!!!
Retails for $2500 but I’m sure you can buy one for under $2000 for sure!!! Maybe even $1500-1800. ✅👍 I am absolutely loving it right now. I’ve been working on a quilt video and oh my word!!! I had no idea that I would like having a knee lift. So far the machine is living up to the hype! ( and no one is paying me to say that either! Lol)👍
@@TheSewingChannel Hi, my 14 year old Viking Designer sews sideways has never broken down it has sewn miles of fabric.Ihave 4 HV machines, all amazing.
@@TheSewingChannel Your new sewing machine is awesome! My Singer Pro is a 2002 model and is misbehaving. Making face masks with all the bird-nesting is troublesome. After after it service, I am c onsidering a near-basic Brother rather than high-end machine. I'm 74 and only do quilts, pillows and simple things. Days of formals, curtains, and clothes are retired. The Featherweight is named after my friend who restored the machine after rescuing him. Bowser is a tough little puppy and reminds me how sewing machines have changed over the years. It sews very well and makes me smile. I could easily collect them but am controlling that urge!! Bowser is my travel mate when we go in the motorhome. I also have a 1936 Singer made of iron in her original cabinet. Her name is Margaret in honor of the owner. She sews beautifully and is rugged. Sewing machines and the art of quilting (past and present) represents my connection with ladies of yore. With hand and needles and quilting frames that hung from the ceilings they designed beautiful quilts of necessity without 'nary a templatecutting mat or rotary cutter'. They would be amazed at the quilting aids we have now!
I do enjoy searching out old antique quilts and looking at how they sewed them. Beautiful creations for sure. I’m working on a wedding quilt for my daughter (put on hold during mask making). It is a cathedral window quilt which in my opinion are an absolute labor of love ❤️
I bought same one it’s nice but if I had done my hw correctly I would not of purchased this model. I wish it had warning for when bobbin is running out. Next Inthinkmmy thrust plate a scratch in it so what happens when it gets to that point the fabric won’t proceed to sew it stays in same spot. It will not progress. I also don’t like the way it handles the 1/4 inch foot. You need to have needle in center position what happens it hits the foot the needle breaks
The Sewing Channel look carefully I really think there’s a little spot that’s damaged on the plate I’m thinking of trying the straight stitch plate and see if the same thing happens
Please make more videos with this machine! And now I am in the process of deciding which model to get Brother NQ 1300 ( it's the same model as yours, just previous version that comes with few less accessories) or Brother BQ 2450.....
My other Brother was from Walmart too and for the abuse of sewing that I’ve done on it - it has never given me any real trouble. It is roughly going on 3 years of use.
You could always pick a good used machine at a hard sale. I see a lot of them.
I am so glad I found another sewing channel. I don't make quilts. I have a Husqvarna Viking Deign Epic.
I’m glad you found another sewing channel too! 😃✂️❤️
Mine is a brother CE1008..this is the first brother I've always used Singer
Singer. Enjoy your new sewing machine.
Thank you! I will. I played on it a bit today but not long enough!
I have a Singer. Your new toy looks magical! I'm looking forward to see your sewing projects take form with it
Magical is the perfect word! I can’t wait to sew a project for sure!!!
i have the exact same machine... just unboxed yesterday. I am excited and scared, lol.
I hope it comes soon for you. I know how frustrating it is waiting for sewing supplies to arrive. 👍
May I ask where did you buy your machine and how much it cost? Thank you
@@maricelvillarivera4907 I'm still wanting on delivery --- from a shop in Carmel Indiana
@@TheSewingChannel Still waiting -- 1st time in 50 years I have been without a machine
@@laurarhodes1902 thank you so much for your response. I live in VA so I may have to check out a local dealer here. Have a blessed night.
That is a great looking machine and it has so many feet to go with it too and it must be easy to keep track of them with the container you received. You must have paid a large price for it and the machine may be worth it though. You should be doing so much quilting with that machine and it's accessories.
I can’t wait to free motion quilt on it!!! Will be so much fun for sure!!!
I have a 20 year old Husqvarna Freesia that I just love to bits and Janome S7 I picked up this year. The S7 has all the fancy features but I still prefer my straightward Husky.
Wow 20 years and goin’ strong!👍❤️✅
It's funny how do many of us prefer our basic machines for the most part 😺🌞
Hi, i have two old brothers, 3100D (disney machine) and a 4000D (Disney Machine) innovis and i still love them. It took me 10 years of saving from me first catching a glimpse of my wee disney until i could get it. I bought the 2nd one a few years later second hand. They are embroidery machines but come with numerous other feet as well. Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
You’re machines sound delightful ❤️✂️ wow -Scotland seems far away.
I’ve got a Brother PQ1500SL straight stitch machine and a Brother XV8500D I’m very lucky to have them now and adore them both equally!
Lindy
Everyone in America started sewing masks so short supply of machines for sure! Brother is great!✅
I have a viking 550 Lilly she's old but works great !
Oldie but a goodie !✂️❤️✅
BQ1350 and jut got it! Have to play now!!!!😍
I love free motion quilting! It’s awkward at first but after much practice.....
It feels like a new toy! For sure! Thanks for sticking around to see other sewing videos....... 😀
Happy for you!
Thx😀
They are expensive toys/necessities! Haha 😂
Sooooo envious - I use my 30+ year old Janome machine. I keep waiting for it to break down so that I can upgrade but, no luck! Maybe sewing all these masks will do the trick...
This will be my 3rd sewing machine-I wait till they break then buy....LOL All this sewing this season has taken a toll on all our machines I'm sure!
Believe me, sewing masks was literally the death of my old machine!
I have a Brother XL 2600i and a Singer Featherweight I bought forty five years ago.
If I ever come across a featherweight that’s in working order I’m getting it!!! Wanted one for awhile now.
The BBQ 1350, a man's machine if I ever heard one.
I have a Janome, pretty basic. Would love to upgrade at some point. Yours is like a race car!
Lol it’s one smooth ride for sure! I actually purchased the Janome coverstitch machine too but I’m not sure on it yet.
Enjoy! I own a Bernina sewing machine.
Once you get used to it...you'll be threading and sewing like a pro🤩
Just bought one!
How do you like it Ronnie?
I got my machine about the same time you did. I feel really stupid asking you this BUT here goes
I would always move my needle over until it measured 1/4" from the edge of the foot. ( i always used the foot with the black knob with spring on it✅)
Howdy neighbor!
What would you do for button holes or zig zag if required ??
Well I’d have several machines to aid me lol 🤣 seriously though you are right about the other needed stitches- that’s a consideration if you were to only have 1 machine! Good thought!!!🤓
I have purchased the exact same machine. I am in the process of making friends with my new purchase, but I am intimidated. Can you explain the difference between stitches 1 and 2 or stitches 3 and 4?
I will have to look at it and get back to you✅
I don’t believe I’ve come across this one yet, maybe I have!
The Sewing Channel
Not bad! I was thinking and probably is $5K+ with ALL of the goodies (electronic)!
I thought the price was reasonable too for everything it does. ✅
If you are looking into a Juki...be sure to use my Juki affiliate link here: jukijunkies.com/?ref=TheSewingChannel
@TheSewingChannel oh absolutely will if I go with a Juki...I don't like making big purchases in person, I ALWAYS cave and end up being suckered by the upsales 🤦🏼♀️

I’ve never heard of that one. Is quantum the name brand?

Singers are great machines!
The Sewing Channel ;
So new that you have this machine for nearly a year, can you update your impressions and what is special about it? Thanks so much!
So hey Tracey … now that you have a juki have you kicked this one to the curb? Or so you use them differently?
LOLOLOLOL yes...I no longer use it...I have since also purchased a Juki Dx7🤣
My machine retails for $2500 but they gave me a better deal than that! They are really nice at Alko!
Hi neighbor! That was the bobbin winder on top. The bobbin though is under the needle. ✅ my old brother was from Walmart too!
@@TheSewingChannel my bobbin is in the front have to take off the front section to get to it. My bobbin winder is on the top of the machine as well. 🙂 I like the way yours cut the thread as you pull away and auto threading of the needle! 😄💕
I know! I feel so spoiled now!!! No going back now lol -thread cutter....... automatic threader...... purring like a content baby kitten! ✅
@@TheSewingChannel Yes!!! I just might have to invest in a new machine! 😄
@DLM aren't you glad you have it now!🐦
Hello, I just came across your machine video, and I'm in the looking market for a new machine... so, now that you have had this machine for a while what do you think is it worth the $$... also I have to ask, is this machine over $1,500...
I am thinking about buying this machine. Any regrets?
No. None yet. But I recently just obtained a vintage singer sewing machine and it runs so nice and the straight stitch is amazing. ✅
I also have the Brother BQ-1350. I’m a hesitant fan. The needle threader in mine Makes an awful clunk. Also, having trouble making stitch 43 (wave) more narrow. Help!!!
The only problem that I have had is the spacing between letter characters🤷🏻♀️otherwise it works beautifully✅
I gotta say it looks a LOT like my Baby Lock Lyric....even came with the quilting table & knee lift thing....LOL(I just got mine a couple weeks ago)
I tried the knee lift today and I’m going to really like it I think.
It looks a lot like my Babylock Soprano. Identical thread and bobbin winding.
Soprano! I like that name 😀
It's a Soprano clone. The Lyric clone is the BQ950.
How much did it cost? I can't find a price anywhere on the internet. Thanks.

Singer Pro and "Bowser" is my Singer Featherweight
Oh I have ALWAYS wanted a featherweight!!!!! I have been searching for a long time for one. What do you love most about it?
@@TheSewingChannel
Your new sewing machine is awesome! My Singer Pro is a 2002 model and is misbehaving. Making face masks with all the bird-nesting is troublesome. After after it service, I am c
onsidering a near-basic Brother rather than high-end machine.
My fabric does same thing..... sews in one spot sometimes. It’s agrivating but I thought I was causing it.
The Sewing Channel look carefully I really think there’s a little spot that’s damaged on the plate I’m thinking of trying the straight stitch plate and see if the same thing happens
Please make more videos with this machine!
My machines are Brother SQ 9050 ( quilting machine from Walmart, but I really like it and it works great!), Brother 1034 serger ( such an improvement from my Singer serger I hated) and Brother HE240 ( sewing and embroidery machine).
Prior to that was a cheap singer that I can barely remember haha. Sounds like you have quite the growing collection of machines! I will absolutely make more videos of this machine.
