This has been really important for me to remind myself, sometimes the key is to stop being patient with one piece and start being more patient with the progress of your whole art journey.
Hello Marshall, I need some help about my art abilities, I'm 17 and I've been drawing seriously since 2017, my drawings are ok and and i can now apply a little bit of perspective in my drawings. but my problem is, I cannot make my drawings more dynamic, more specifically the characters I'm drawing. What do i need to learn first in order to make progress and in order to make my art skill better? People say that I should learn anatomy first, but others say gestures, and some people say i need to learn shapes and forms. I don't know where to start. Thank you for reading this message, Have a nice day
@@ninjawarrior4217 there is always huge benefit in taking a life drawing class studying the nude form. If you can sit in on a college level class do it. Anyone who can do a sitting for you will also help. Don't be afraid to ask. Practice practice!!!
I still deal with this perfectionist problem a lot when it comes to commissions. Even when the working hours already reach an amount which can't justify the price-performance ratio anymore it is still hard to find the right time to quit especially when I am the one who isn't satisfied with the current result. Sometimes I asked the clients if they might reconsider the initially determined price so that the new one would compensate my actual working time. But that's rare since I feel uncomfortable to ask them for this because I view most of the corrected content as a mistake on my part. Even after the finalization of the project I can still see stuff on my work which bugs me, unlike my clients who are fortunately kind enough and really love the outcome. I have much experience with clients and commissions but that's a specific weakness I still have to overcome.
@@juanestey lucky, when/where was this? she dont get out much. would kill to see her sketch, only know of 1 video of her sketching. can get a lot out of studying her sketch books though too
I always have a 50% vision of what the outcome is. Only when I start to draw and whilst I drew I have a clearer thought of how it has to look like. Either the drawing will emerge or the rough work I put to one side and and draw a better one than I put to the side
I took a Schoolism class on watercolors and one of the lessons I learned (included with the actual watercolor lesson) was that a mature artist who knows when to say a piece is finished and stops. I could be wrong on a few parts but the idea was there lol

Yeah, it is done when we feel it's done
I wish they could do one with the clip where Stan says how much time he expects students to spend on the Figure Drawing course assignments
I'll see what I can do

claire also went back and re-did her works in iguana bay though the rougher ones are still my favorite.
This opened my mind wow
You forgot to add one thing to the list. It's time to stop working on the current project when the next great idea for a new project one comes to you.

the thumbnail made it look like you guys were trying to say CLAIRE’S art is overworked.
