Cinematic Perspective - Draftsmen S04E04
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Marshall and Stan discuss the importance of cinematic perspective in storytelling, emphasizing how camera placement, movement, lighting, and color can influence the audience's emotions and perceptions. By manipulating these elements, artists can create dynamic and engaging narratives. They also touched on the contrast between continuity and dialectic approaches in film editing, using examples from classic and modern films to illustrate how these techniques enhance storytelling.

I signed up! Looking forward to it!
Would you say the perspective course is just on the horizon?
I love that Marshall always worries he’s talking too much. Please man! Talk more! We need more Draftsmen!
@@maxismakingstuff underrated comment man
@@zinka777 its a real thinking man's comment. I'm glad you liked it.
we are so backkk
yessir
Babe wake up,the draftsman posted a new episode!!!
I'm here
My art uncle, my art grandpa, and my invisible art cousin who provides color commentary and impeccable production are back! Rejoice!
😅 That's how I think of them too. Get outta here 😂😂
I started binge watching draftsmen (not my first time) about three week ago. Timing was amazing.
We knew you needed us! Thanks for listening.
Celebrating the comeback of two my most dear artists with binge watching from episode 0.
all episodes should be Marshall’s …he is very knowledgeable..and I always learn something from him. It’s cool to joke around but sometimes it takes away from Marshall’s train of thoughts. Welcome back guys. Looking forward to some interesting episodes
I missed Marshal's fascination and wealth of knowledge so, so much. He is such a pleasant listen.
Glad to see you guys back, during this time away I've gone from just being fascinated with art and listening the podcast on my daily commutes to doing art myself and relating to all of this so much stronger! I probably should rewatch the whole catalogue again!
Thank goodness to youtube and the internet. I can listen to Marshall for hours and hours.
NEW DRAFTSMEN EPISODE LETS GOOOOOOO
Gooooooooo
I don't care if this becomes a rare commodity! I enjoy these when they pop up. Thanks for not letting the podcast go entirely! I do treasure these! ❤😊
So true. I understand that it becomes hard to come up for things to talk about so i wouldn’t mind they started uploading once a year if that meant it continued. I value these episodes that much ❤
Never thought this day would come... Another Draftsmen video!!!
Good to have you back gents! Please purchase the perspective course. You'll produce pleasing pictures, placing priority on ploting proximate paths on paper!
I strongly recommend "Network" by Sidney Lumet - people should watch the entire movie because it gives that monologue they love sharing online so much its proper context.
I miss this podcasts so much! I hope you two come back from time to time, is such a joy to hear you talk and laugh!
I was waiting for Marshall's course for years!
So delighted to see the dynamic duo is back at it again!!
I love Marshall’s book recommendations (and Stan’s too)! I’ve discovered soooo many helpful books through this podcast
What a fascinating conversation. Thanks chaps!
Thank you for continuing the series. It's a treasure trove of info!
The video thumbnails are everything!!
Omg I got into this podcast very recently thinking I missed out and it was finished years ago just to find out yall are still killing it! Marshall and Stan have been a huge help as I struggle through learning the complexity of drawing anything and everything. Now back to my binge watch!
So stoked you’re both back! Please more Podcasts 😮💨
It is so good to have you guys back!!!
As soon as he said "hard cut," I thought, "given the nature of this episode, they're 100% gonna do it..."
oh marshall how ive missed you so
Please make more episodes 😭😭 the world is crazy and I need this duo for sanity and hope for the future. I am admittedly being dramatic, but if it works ....
Awesome! Love to see you back.
Also, this conversation just openned so many ideas in my mind I might need to have a second watch while taking some notes.
I started the podcast a few months ago and was sad thinking it had ended in Season 3, thank you!!!!
The best podcast is back in action!
Wait... this is a NEW EPISODE... LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!
Glad you guys are back! I used to listen to you a lot!
I always liked the book reports
We'll let Marshall know lol
Very happy that the Draftsmen are back!
Thank God you guys are back!!
best and only (but probably shouldn't be) artist podcast xD and i actually liked the AI episode a lot, you guys gave and still give great artistic insight on all kinds of topics :P
I love these podcasts
Marshall's the best!
I've been rewatching old episodes in last couple weeks, while drawing. It was a nice surprise on my feed seeing a new episode :)
Ah yes, the pure bliss podcast.
We all felt the vibrations and have flocked here. Caw caw bird 🦅
Guys we don’t care if you run out of topics to cover . We beg you ! Just keep going with this podcast . Talk about anything recent events in art or old events cover different masterpieces anything to do with art supplies technology idk get guests anything just keep going guys ! We need you guys back so bad . There is so much bad shit going on in this world right now and so much crap is getting uploaded to yt … we really miss you guys and need you back !!!!
We feel the same about the people we listen to and watch! We just never want to make something that doesn't feel like it adds something to the art space.
But maybe someone can convince us to do reacts TikToks someday lol
@@Draftsmen come back for one more season 🙏🏼
miss this so much!!
YEAAAAH!!! Playin this while drawing!!!
Yo I can't believe it! we so back!!!
Please please PLEASE can you do an episode about finding your art style. Like a whole episode dedicated to it cause I think a lot of artists struggle with this x
Great to have you two back!
Welcome back! 🎉
Brother, i missed this podcast so much
My favorite piece of storytelling/cinematography is in Game of Thrones. The scene is between the young king and his grandfather. By the end of it you have this wormseye'ish view of the throne and the symbol of the gods behind the characters. As the Grandfather leaves he steps done from the stairs of the throne. You'd think he'd drop below the staged king and these other visual elements but he only gets bigger in the frame, looming even over the symbol of the gods, demonstrating the dynamics of his character's importance in the story.
I may have listened to Game of Thrones Noobs Podcast.😅
great episode!!
Yay! You’re back
yooooo draftsmen is back!
oh i miss this art podcast. hopefully more guest in the future !
This is the only podcast where I cant do anything else while listening to it (except drawing) because there are so many bits of wisdom in it
We are back!!! 😃
"Deas as a door nail." :
Its meaning is disputed but most likely it referred to the costly metal nails hammered into the outer doors of the wealthy (most people used the much cheaper wooden pegs), which were clinched on the inside of the door and therefore were “dead,” that is, could not be used again.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ awesome new episode! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Network is GREAT.
Man this is goin to be the longest season ever and I'm and ready for it!!! I could listen to Marshall's book reports all day!! Also, a Smelt is a fish??😂
🐟
New Draftsmen episodeeeeeeeeeeee
Yay!!! Youre back!!!!!!❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Terry Gilliam is known for very unusual cinematography. Check out, Time Bandits or Brazil.
fantastic films
Let's GO!
Is this a miracle
This is it !
Draftsmen is back YASSSSSSSS😭💓💥🔥
YAAAAASSSSSSSS IM SO HAPPY !!!!!!!
I am not sure if I agree with Stan's opinion on the Bear and camera waiving. I think the shots of cooks doing rigorous work is integral to what the show is trying to tell.
Still love this show/podcast!!✏
Hey Stan, what's that SOROLLA BOOK behind Marshall? I haven't seen that one before. Great episode BTW.
The cover says "Vision of Spain" and "Hispanic Society of America Collection" and the features a close-up of the sailors from "The Tunny Catch" as the cover art. From 2007, Felipe V; Facundo Tomas Ferre Garin Llombart
@@charnich Much appreciated. Thanks.
YEEEEEEES! YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!
YES!!!
LETS GOOO!!
Im so happy🎉
LET'S GOOOOOOO
I wonder when Marshall is going to direct his own movie...
we abck baby!
let's goo !!
😄just what i needed
WOOHOO!!
Yesssssssss 😍
for anyone else concerned about it, i did a bit of digging into the video and can report that the awkward intro is back too! and more awkward than ever! fine day to be a draftsmen fan :)
YEAAAAHHHHHHHHH
I think the real power of a hard cut is
WOOP WOOP!!!
The moment he said lighting I immediately thought about Horror films, because A LOT, and really I mean MOST, Modern horror has duel lighting that is red/blue, or red/X. Sometimes it feels arbitrary but others times it is used effectively to create atmosphere. It is becoming an overused visual archetype.
❤

ARE WE BACK?
We're so back.
Man this would be so much better if Stan knew a bit about cinema history...
Rejoice
am I having a dream right now
If you live in Pennsylvania get out and vote 💙💙💙
they've been resurrected
No way
Aaaaaaaaaa!
Great to have you guys back. Tell the guy behind the camera to be quiet
Absolutely not. Charlie's an important part of the show. He keeps us on track and edits this whole thing so people can see and hear it.
But thanks for being glad we're back!
If you like DRAFTSMEN, consider how many of its better qualities come from that quiet guy behind the camera who transforms boring content into liveliness, error into truth, and even foolishness into wisdom.
Charlie Nicholson! Hail and Hear Him!
Oi Draftsmen!! in the theme of this video's thumbnail, I shall echo Rhaenera's words to Daemon: "Leave me again at your peril..."😠🤝❤🩹
On the acting bit around the 32 minute mark, Thomas Flight recently did a video on the change from Theatrical acting to more Naturalistic acting now and how The Godfather was kind of the movie that kickstarted the current style of acting. It was pretty good.
