    I think many pro Olympus (OM) photographers would disagree that MFT can’t compete with full frame! Yes, there are depth of field considerations, but small MFT lenses make the system very appealing for wildlife and adventure photography 🤙

      True. wildlife or adventure photographers who need the lightest weight gear may benefit from MFT with OM cameras. I even think OM is better than Panasonic with MFT photography. So for that demographic, OM could be an excellent system. For everyone else, full frame makes more sense, now that they are building them smaller and cheaper than before.

      GH5 shooter since 2017 here and this argument just doesn't quite hold up imo, if you use a proper fast lens like an 18-35 Art the DoF is great even on MFT and you dont need FF for that. Where the older body is really lacking is dynamic range and low light, but even that isn't so much about MFT as it is about the older GH bodys, since the new G9II holds up fairly great even in low light .

      I've been using the GH micro-four-thirds system since the GH2 back in 2011. I then owned and used the AF100, GH3, GH4, GH5, GH5S, and the BGH1. I've even done reviews of most of those cameras on my channel. So I've pushed the GH series as far as they could go and in my years of experience with them, the full frame S5II and S5IIX are better. I have not used the G9II, so maybe that is the game changer, but MFT cannot compete with the FF at hybrid shooting where you need both high quality video and stills.
      And if the only way to match an MFT to FF is to use a speed booster and 18-35 art lens, then I'd rather use FF, because there are more lens options, better auto-focus (which is important to me, maybe not others), and it weighs the same or less. MFT just doesn't make sense for a lot of people nowadays. I only stuck with the system because I owned too many MFT lenses and support gear, but now that I can afford to upgrade, I don't think I'll ever go back. The only advantage of MFT for me would be if I shot anamorphic. That's where I still think MFT has the edge when it comes to price, lens options, and performance.

    It would be nice to see some footage from the documentary you shot using this kit, it get's pretty booring to watch at camera bodies for 15 minutes.

      Thanks for the comment! Sorry, I can't show footage from that project at the moment for client contract reasons, but I will be doing test footage in future videos. A lot of my videos are just ranting about gear that I use for my work. I'm not a professional UA-camr, but I will try to put more effort into these videos when I can.

    Does the S5iix come with a charger because he S5ii only comes with a cable and block

      @VideoGizmology  6 місяців тому

      Nope. It appears they want you to buy a battery charger separately or charge the battery in the camera using the supplied USB cable.

    Hi friend.
    Since you own both, can I ask you something?
    How good are they for both video AND photo?
    I know they excel in videos.
    How about photography?
    Also, are they all-intra?
    So totally uncompressed?
    If only their focus was as good as canon and there was a GOOD EF adapter, I would have bought one of them immediately.

      Stills quality is good and can be used for professional jobs, but not better than current Canon cameras. I have a Canon R5 and R7 and I will always choose those cameras for photography over the Panasonic cameras, mostly because they are higher megapixels, but also the natural colors personally look better to me. However, the S5II and S5IIX are the best hybrid cameras in this price range. You'd have to spend thousands more from Canon or Sony to get similar features that Panasonic gives you. For example, if you had a Canon R5C, that has better hybrid shooting, but costs thousands more and doesn't give you anamorphic modes or a full HDMI.
      The Panasonic S5IIX can do All-I, but that's still compressed. If you don't mind external recording, the S5IIX can do ProRes RAW. The S5II cannot do any of those codecs, unless you pay extra for an upgrade. And there is a decent L-to-EF adapter by Sigma. I have it. Works pretty well for stills and video but slower continuous autofocus.

      Ok so if I want to record in prores raw I NEED an external disk, but I can record in all-I on the SD.
      Yes the S5X is a beast, if Canon doesn't release anything valuable this year I might just buy that one.
      The S5X is basically any videographer's dream for HALF the price of the FX3 and 500 euro less than the R5.

    • @VideoGizmology
      @VideoGizmology  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, you can only record ProRes RAW externally, but ALL-I can be recorded on a fast SD card, just make sure you get the fast UHS-II card with high speeds. The Panasonic S5IIX is a great camera. Only things it lacks for me are higher megapixels for stills and a better lens selection.
