It's a tough one. Being irish i'm happy to have someone again in WRC1 to support but i'm also wondering how someone who hasn't even won a WRC2 rally can get the seat. I'd have tried for Sesks (maybe they did try), hes already shown he's fast in a non hybrid and he's a bit of a character
Really splitted on this one, happy for Josh and Irish rallying, at the same time sad to see M-sport in this state, makes you wonder what is really the point of running the Rally 1 program at all. Yet if Josh can increase consistency i am sure he will be quicker than G-munst, that's for sure.
It's sad to see how strongly M-Sport has moved to be a "pay-to-play" team. I'd think the morale in the team is going to struggle when there's not really much of a "sporting goal" in view. Are they just going to spend the next 2 years developing teh 27 spec car? So it's the same situation as was with Gardemeister/Kresta in the early 2000's? Running with an outdated car with no real development because the team is building the next gen car? I'd really like to see Sesks get some seat time. He has proven to be quick. Obviously he is struggling to get sponsors etc because if he did, he'd be right up there with a seat.
the fact they promoted Munster leader says it all the fact that Seks doesn't arrive to make room for the Irishman is yet more proof that you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't have a patron behind you (or a federation) you're left without a steering wheel Having said this, I am convinced that Mc Earlan will do well👋
Good for Josh, however I don't feel its good for M Sport, I assume it was a choice guided by money and I can't blame them for it, however, Greensmith, Mikkelson, Lappi, Meeke, Kajetanowicz, Sesks are just a few who i feel would do a better job.
I didn’t have McErlean on my cards! Your question, is that good news? Well, for M-Sport maybe not, but for WRC as a whole I’d say yes! I also must admit I like Munster as a character. So a Luxembourger and an Irish as team mates? Fantastic! For the Sport? I guess the good news is that there are only 3 manufacturer teams and that system where non-nominated or 3rd cars are ignored, so M-Sport is capable of picking up top 5th and 6th places every rally! I like these guys, but what we need now is another points system change for 2026: 5-4-3-2-1 points for overall results, 10-7-5 points for the best colour schemes and 1 extra point per stage for the best stage end comments. Is the FIA reading this? I am sure they don't get sarcasm and consider it for real! Seriously: When I heard the Citroen news of running the Rossel brothers and losing Gryazin (and Yohan Rossel was rumoured into an M-Sport Puma), combined with Munster being M-Sport lead driver, this was very much my thought: Munster is lead driver for he is the only driver to do all 14 rounds. Gryazin and Sesks are both looking at a Puma Rally1 but both can’t afford a full season. Now add McErlean to that mix, could it still be that Gryazin and Sesks share a Puma Rally1, only it would be a 3rd M-Sport car? Now I do like that idea!
Unfortunately not much M-Sport can do with their budget but it's a fairly woeful lineup. Too early for McErlean too who hasn't even won a WRC2 event. M-Sport is just a pay to drive team these days.
It's the least impressive line up for M-Sport since 2005; with Gardemeister & Kresta, who did as well as could be expected; as the team were developing a new Focus WRC. Good luck to Josh, who is being thrown into the deep end.......but kudos to Motorsport Ireland. Everytime people talk of similar for MSUK, all the old guard throw their toys out of the pram........"How dare they spend our money on youngsters."
MSport seats are paid for, so it is logical to find paid drivers who are not necessarily the most talented. I wish they had hired Mikkelsen, Gryazin, Rossel, or Solberg, but that's how things work. If you don't aspire to something better, don't expect something good.
sounds like m sport are running a very tight budget this year and could lead to this being there last season, no good results means no good sponsers for 2026
For me Greg to be number driver for M-Sport doesn't sit well for me. I'm not hating or having jealousy on the guy. M.Sesks for me he needs more seats on Rally 1 Car. Josh has alot to prove but he needs to be pissed like Thierry Neuville. It's when drivers perform.
@@dallankeaney8419 his nationality has nothing to do with it. I wish him the absolute best, but it is a left-field choice when the likes of Solberg and Rossel are staying in WRC2
I really do wish Josh the very best, but a Rally 1 drive feels far too early for him.
Sheesh man it’s hard to feel good about rally right now. Hopefully 2027 works out as well as the fia want it too

The whole Ireland is so happy about this news Good Luck Josh Fingers Crossed :) Saw him in action many times he is ready for sure Lets go Josh :)
I’m Irish and I’m happy, but it’s too early for Josh.
@shinra2755 Met him many times when was helping out us official I think he will be fine Think positive💪💪

I’m worried that Josh will end up like Solberg Junior in his first time WRC 1.

I think, M-sport/Ford is focusing on Dakar Rally / W2RC for 2025.
Why not Martins sesks
@@tomlinch1064 budget I suspect
What happening with martin sesks? No budget?
It´s gonna be a tough year for M-Sport. There are definitly better opcions then what they got now.
If u have the cash then ynot but this is y rally 2 would b the way all the manufacturers cars all ready there
It's a matter of tight budget from Msport leading into difficulty in dealing with 'top driver'... that's it..

Solberg still stuck in Rally 2 while Josh gets promoted tells you all you need to know about this sport - money talks 😾
Whatta cockup .
I care about monster 😢😢
Money talks I'm afraid
