I'm 21 years old. Best believe I'm making these for myself. I will walk straight to my university and eat these in front of everyone cause I know they'll be so jealous.
I love this comment!! Made me smile.
The no peanut butter rules really annoy me. I know full well that it is because some people have allergies, but speaking as someone who has multiple, severe allergies myself, rules such as these are divisive and not particularly helpful. For one, it is prioritising one allergy over another, suggesting one child's safety is more important than anothers - I cannot imagine a school banning celery, strawberries, kiwi, milk, pineapple and tomatoes, all of which I am deathly allergic to and all of which are common allergies (celery is almost as common an allergen as nuts). There is also the risk of lulling those with nut allergies into a false sense of security as there is always the chance that a child has had peanut butter of whatever for breakfast and still has traces on their hands. The one that bothers me most is that creating an almost sterile environment regarding nuts the sufferer can become even more sensitive to it and more at risk than a life threatening reaction. I am so allergic to celery that I have had reactions just walking through the produce section of a supermarket, but rather than avoid my allergens totally, I know these little exposures and reactions will actually help to reduce the likelihood of full blown anaphylaxis.
Sorry, I know this wasnt the focus o your video, but it is a real bugbear of mine as a peanut butter lover with allergies to practically everything else!
I agree. Both of my children have a list of food allergies and when they started school they were seated at the "nut free" table in the lunchroom, AWAY from their friends. They felt ostracized, especially my son whose best friend brought peanut butter and jelly for lunch every day. Of course there were allergies other than nuts, but there were no tables for those kids. Eventually I was able to explain that as long as my kids didn't eat their allergens they were fine and weren't exiled to that corner table in the lunchroom anymore.
You are very uninformed. Celery is not as common as peanuts for allergens. Or even close. The top 8 most common allergens are Dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, egg, seafood, shellfish, and soy. The next two common allergen are sesame and sulfites. NOT celery!
Secondly, what about the kids that go into Anaphylactic shock from breathing in peanuts? Should we just say "FUCK YOU" to them and let them leave in an ambulance everyday from school? What if that kid doesn't survive the shock and dies? Are you just going to tell the parents "oh well, such is life"?
It doesn't create a false sense of security. You're just an idiot. I can't even fathom your comment, it's so ignorant.
Also uncontrolled exposure to an allergen does not decrease the risk of anaphylaxis. It just increases it to happen at that very moment.
There are 14 notifiable allergens, the 14 most common and most serious allergies. Celery is one of these and extremely difficult to avoid, just look at food labels, its in soups, sauces, sandwich spreads, all sorts of things (as an ingredient, not just the get out clause of 'may contain'). I react as severely to this as anyone does to nuts and have had countless anaphylactic reactions requiring adrenaline and hospital admission so to say I dont understand is just laughable. I do not agree with wrapping people up in cotton wool and creating a sterile environment or several reasons. Yes, I do believe that it can lead to false sense of security as the early, minor symptoms may be ignored if the child (or teachers) believe there are no allergens present. I also believe that other people should not suffer because I, or anyone else, has allergies. Sensible precautions, testing food before eating by touching inner wrist and lip, careful hand washing etc are all reasonable, banning foods isnt.
+Faith Cecelia There are 8. Ask the FDA, chicka. Not 14. That's why you hear "The Top 8" ALLLLLLL the time in the allergy world.
I'm not even going to bother with your ignorance. I just hope you don't kill an innocent child because you want some damn peanut butter.
Perhaps we are in different countries, but in the UK and Europe there are 14 notifiable allergies. You are clearly obsessed with peanut allergy and cannot see further than that to see that I myself have a dozen or more allergies so know how to keep myself, and others, safe through good hygiene and testing food before eating. Testing food is the main thing that will keep people safe and any child with any serious allergy should be taught to do that any time they eat outside of the home.
OMG I am 45. I have no kids. But I want sandwich sushi!!! LOL.
Just wrote teeny tiny swords on my grocery list lol.
Stinking cute ideas!!!
Great tips. But around here you can't use the little swords at school. The kid would be kicked out if they took it since they consider it a weapon. Silly but true.
SAD, but true.
I was going to mention that. Schools have gotten so weird. You'd think you could do more damage with a pencil than a tiny sword.
That was the first thought I had too! :/
Depending on the school, maybe a straw would be a better option. Or pretzels! Yum! (but soggy?) :)
I do this for my daughter but I use blunt ended swizzle sticks that I got from the dollar store. Maybe that would work?
Kind of sad you aren't doing a video everyday next week! I loved watching all of these! You did a great job
Omg yes to the swords! I'm not even kidding that's the best lunch hack ever.
Love those butterfly clips!! Great idea!
i am the only one here who have no kids but sees these videos
You are a legit genius. I've got a 4 year old who will eat absolutely anything and an almost 2 year old who is a major food rejector and will hardly eat enough to keep a sparrow going (he drives me bonkers some days, I mean who doesn't want to eat?!!).... I'm off to buy plastic sword toothpicks!
I loved the sushi idea!!! I'm definitely looking forward to packing lunches!!! great ideas💕💕💕
I'm loving this collaboration, two of my favorite you tubers. yay!
Hi. Consider going commercial with the butterfly bags. Itl make you a killing.
Ah, the plastic swords. Love it. My father has always said, people will eat anything if you put it on a toothpick.
was screaming at the screen just slide it over ;) lol you got this it just mommy brain:) great tips
Love the butterflies! My kiddo will love those! She is anti sandwich as well but I'm thinking she will love that sushi idea. Yay for Milo starting JK! We just finished kindergarten and are venturing into the first grade world. Eek! And ps - collabing with Cass = #goals.
Great ideas, lucky for me I do not pack lunches for my kiddos (gave up on that life years ago)...lol. But I will use the sword idea on Fun-day Fridays with the daycare kiddos...thats a super cute way to serve them. Thx for sharing
Thank you! I fed my toddler cheese and meat wrap aka sushi on a tooth pick and he didn't even pick out the meat!!
Awesome!
Brilliant video thank you!! I also do the sushi idea for my fussy eater! 👍🏼 xx
WTG ladies.. Great job!!!! Loved this week.. Thanks for sharing
Peanut free school??? Really! OMG! Anyway, you have some great ideas.
Jennifer Hodge there is a kid on my class who is allergic to peanuts and we have to check everything to see if it has peanuts really annoying
Jennifer Hodge it's a great rule. Especially when the damn teachers fed my child peanut butter.. TWICE. Actively knowing and having an epi pen on hand, they fed it to my child twice and almost killed him twice.
Jennifer Hodge yup my kids school is tge same a lot of kids are allergic two peanut butter
+Kenedeigh Goins - 2 things. Why don't you pack your kids food instead of trusting the teachers to feed him. Also, why the heck is the kid still at that school if he almost died twice to ignorance ??
Here all the school are peanut Free! (Québec)
Very cute! Ugh, my kids don't eat anything!! Great ideas!
This is super helpful! Thanks for sharing!
My 3 year old "he doesn't like anything, ever" 😅
That's my 6 yr old 😦
Anybody else a kid who watches these because you have to pack your own lunches?
Amanda Sinder awww
Me
Love this! No longer have wee ones at home ~ However, I've many wee ones (grandchildren) that would just love these oh so adorable ideas when they are staying with 'LaLa and bop-pa'' AKA: grandma and grandpa. TFS!
Weird hearing it being called jelly we call it jam X
You also call pop soda!! So weird!
You don't say "Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches"? I think Jam is made with mashed fruit and jelly is technically like gelatin, no solid fruit juice I think....don't' quote me on that though! So technically this is "Jam" but I still call it "Jelly"...I'm a weirdo!
+ClutterBug im.from the US. I call it jelly. even jam...is jelly lol soda is coke. whether it's sprite, coke, Dr Pepper etc. it's coke.
+ClutterBug no we call soda fizzy love your vids btw soooo inspiring
+ClutterBug the lunch box seperators are great as the would help me son as he is autistic and does not like his food touching X
First off: you are lovely and have very creative ideas. This whole time i was just thinking "how unhealthy!!!" and i didnt wanna be the jerk to mention it but then i saw the hot dog!! :( i understand picky eaters can be a challenge but i would love a video with healthy lunches for picky eaters.....
Not that you need any more ideas, but my (grown!) daughter loves hummus roll ups and hummus and egg salad which I think is a weird combo but it works!
Oh my kid would love the sword idea! Everything is better on a sword, I'd assume! :)
Totally off subject........I was watching an interview/report about "stay at home moms" vs "working outside the home moms"..........all of a sudden I was like, "HEY! I know her!!". ok, well, I don't REALLY know you, but you know what I mean.
Shelly's home life is a great youtuber!
Thank you for all those suggestions...I just subscribed to them all ❤️ I'm always looking for other moms and organizational videos, so thanks again 😊
+Casey Stutzman I like the ones that promote happy, healthy relationships with their families. No negative people allowed! I cannot stand that!
+Michelle Martinez I totally agree! 💯
would love to see you and Melissa from clean my space collaborate you two are best two Canadians ever ;)
Wow 5 yrs and I have never thought of the sushi idea. Literally just made it for my 5 yr old daughter who is Extremely PICKY!!! and she loved it!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH! Do you have or would consider making a video on ideas you have to make picky children eat! Thanks so much!!
My kids love Wowbutter.....they claim it tests better then regular PB?? My kids would starve without sandwiches....lol. But my kids get school lunches...I know I am a horrible mom.
My "kids" are 30 and 32 years old and I'm still waiting (patiently) to be a grandma.... However, I really really enjoyed this video and learned so much. (Like bento boxes... perfect for saving those small bits of leftover dinner good enough the next day. I'm going to get a couple.) My kids were not picky eaters; they ate everything.
I would love to colab with you!!!
All our elementary schools are nut free here but in highschool (gr9 or gr7 in the catholic system) they can have nuts also my kids always seemed to be in a class with kids allergic to milk or eggs or seafood etc so things I would send I couldn't :( My kids hate sandwiches too unless its on a bagel or a wrap.. I'll be doing lunch videos next week. My kids have access to a microwave if they so choose to use it too. Most my kids lunches tend to be leftovers from the day before with a granola bar, fruit cup or fruit pouch, cheese string, and something snacky like goldfish or rice cakes. My kids aren't too picky per se but they both don't always like the same things which makes shopping difficult.
Loved these ideas. Thank you for this series. Will definitely try a lot of your ideas. You should collab with Kathryn from DoItOnaDime 😀
I thought you stopped making videos because you weren't in my feed, turns out my son somehow unsubscribed to you. Luckly, I typed your name and what do you know, you were making a lot of videos that I didn't know. This is the last time, I'll let my 2 year old use my phone without supervision. I miss you so much.
I have picky kids/ food sensitivities. Lunch time gets abit repetitive by the end of the year. Love those butterfly's!!! My kids too! And the foil wrapped food. Loved all the videos in the collab! Look forward to you collabing with others.
Where did you get this lunch box? new subscriber here, found you while looking for lunch boxes for my 2 yr old and LOVE your lunch ideas too. Do you have a blog with pics of lunches could really use some ideas. Thanks!
This is fab, it works wonders for my husband! 😂😂😂 (I'm actually serious) It's the only way to get healthy food in him, bar blending it! 😀
Your house is gorgeous. Been a subscriber for YEARS. You're simply the best! I need your coping skill advice
When children are very young, they are picky about what they eat, and they don't have much of an appetite. I remember I didn't, but my mother never went out of her way to make sure I got enough. I ended up a heavier teenager in spite of this, as when I hit my teens, I ate all foods. Lunch for me as a kid was a sandwich, a fruit, and maybe some carrots. On the off day it was a cupcake for dessert. I didn't eat all of it. When I got home, I was hungry. I was given the choice of a carrot or a pickle for a snack (no kidding). Dinner was boring, a meat, a potato and a vegetable and milk. By bedtime I was hungry. Tough. I got nothing. With kids eating so much now, and so much sugar and refined flour, our kids are developing arterial blockages at young ages, and if it doesn't have sugar in it, kids won't eat it. Unless it's pizza. We train their taste buds, and we encourage overeating. Parents worry about their kids not getting enough nutrition, but if the food is healthy and fresh, that is more important than how many courses there are in the lunchbox.
Great Video! Just wondering when you pack things that normally need to be refrigerated, how do you keep it cold with a bento? Or do you not really worry about it? I have thrown in frozen juice boxes but I get complaints that it's too frozen still at lunch to drink.
You alwayd crack me up! Great sword and butterfly ideas. I have three boys around the same ages as your kids. They are so darn PICKY about all their food! Glad I'm not the only ones with picky eaters, lol!
Great tips, thanks! The butterfly's and swords are so cute!
love all your videos
What cute ideas! my kids aren't picky thank God! lol but my two nieces and my nephew especially is the Worst! they come over alot and only ever want pizza =/ I think even my nephew would eat fruit on the sword!
Hi Cas, love your videos! It is such a relief to find lunch ideas for both picky eaters and peanut free schools. I live in Ontario Canada and all of our schools are peanut free, plus my daughter is fairly picky with a gluten/dairy intolerance.. Lunches are definitely going to be a challenge. 😳
I don’t blame them, peanut free peanut butter is a sin. Peanut free for the entire school? I call shenanigans. 🙄 Time to switch school districts...?
I am almost 29 and *I* want to eat your kids' lunch. LOL When my oldest is old enough for bringing lunch to school I am definitely going to get these bento boxes and do this!
My 14 year old will only eat sandwiches made out of tortillas rather than bread. Also she HATES peanut free peanut butter.
Great Ideas Cass Milo sounds like my son he doesn't like eating anything he's such a picky eater lol.. Hey how about a collab with at home with Nikki? she's Awesome
I put a hot dog in my 8 yr olds thermos and send her bun on the side with a pact of ketchup I brought home from a fast food place. She loves left overs. Some of the kids teased her about her baked beans, she told them this is better and healthier than you store bought lunchable. She will actually request meatloaf for dinner so she can take leftovers the next day. I volunteer in the lunch room at her school. I have noticed most younger kids do better with bites of several different items. It is like they are overwhelmed with larger portions. Just discovered you from She's In Her Apron channel.
Thanks for the great ideas. I'm going to try these for my oldest child, they are a very picky eater.
Looking forward to more vlogs like this.
Will you be doing any dinner menus for picky eaters once school starts? I would love to see a collaboration again.
Love this!!! Even teachers like me can benefit from this!!! ;)
I LOVE this! my kids are too young for school, but the butterfly snack bag will be good for outings or at home. Thanks for this cool idea!
You make me feel so much better - I stress out making lunch because it would ideally only contain fruit roll-ups if my daughter chose it all. =) Thanks for the tips!
I Love Sushi it's just really good I don't get why people don't like sushi sushi is amazing I like a lot of seafood except for fish
Very clever ideas! I'm not convinced your kiddos are picky, rather are used to living with a creative mom. I was a truly picky eater and, believe me, I wouldn't eat food I didn't like no matter how my mom presented it to me.
Great ideas!!! Those lunches looked so yummy...gnna try those when my lil one goes to school! Thanks for the tips God bless u and ur family!
Children love finger sized food it's more fun and less intimidating that a big sandwich. Love the butterfly idea!
Cas these tips are brilliant I will definitely be using this ideas when my girls go back. Thank you I will be putting this video into my favs
That butterfly baggie is adorable.......thanks for the tips here Cassandra :)
I do the same with the foil..also sometimes I warm up (really hot) left over spaghetti and wrap the container I put it in with foil and my daughter says its warm at lunch.
I'm 12 and I don't eat sandwiches. In 6th grade I are yogurt but it 7th grade I eat tortellini ! It's my favorite thing ever . I usually use a contain with sections so I put the tortellini in one section , a fruit in the other , and something more unhealthy in another, and the last one just a small water bottle
I'm so glad I've found this video. do you have any updated tips or tricks to share? thanks so much!! :)
Great fun ideas! Thanks for sharing!! Love the butterfly idea!! :)
Nice Family photo!
thank you for the video, I going to try the sushi sandwich with my picky eater.
I love the butterflies!!!
Do you have a tip/video on how to declutter my huge cookbook collection? I have been motivated to donate all things that do not bring me joy, but those cookbooks are so hard to donate! I really like them, but do not really read them.
what if you did a collab with Kimmie once a week? Welcome to collab Fridays, for example!
Omg, this was so helpful, I have a 5yr old son who has food allergies & can eat a limited amount of food. These ideas are so great!! thanks for sharing
My little guy is 3 and he is such a picky eater also. I tried the sword thing and he loves it, anything I can get on the swords he'll eat now. Thanks so much!
Oh so fabulous! Might pinch a few of these ideas for me! TFS!! 😀🇦🇺
thats sooo funny cause my 4 yr old is the absolute picky eater and I wonder all the time what im going to do when he starts school next year. Thanks thank so much for some incite. That peanut free peanut butter tastes terrible its like sooo not even close.
Hi there from the uk, my first comment ever on you tube :0) I love your videos, you really inspire me to get things done, you are great!
Don't you just LOVE picky eaters! I have four. I totally get it! :)
not sure why people think a snadwhich or wrap made from white bread/tortilla, processed cheese and meat is healthy. :/
No picky eaters, but food allergies and celiacs. So I typically serve left overs.
in english there are almost just moms doing lunch box hacks and stuff like that. haha in germany mostly girls do those videos haha
a big hello from France ! the butterfly trick is such a great idea even for birthdays
I hate sandwiches too but I can't eat bread unless it's brown but I still don't like sandwiches because I can't stand brown bread
Thanks this was so helpful! I have a picky eater starting kindergarten soon!
I thought I had the only daughter who doesn't like sandwiches! Thanks for all of the great ideas.
