You probably helped them more than you realize - for a couple of hours they were just people participating in a class held at the library - not a marginalized segment of society.
I love the story in the end. Maybe you can connect the organisation topic with the needs of the homeless people? You could ask them what they need regularly or once in a while (food, socks, underwear, bags, toothpaste, soap) and then give this information to your neighbours so when they declutter they know what to donate to the homeless shelter.
Oh my gosh... seriously, I think Netflix is going to snatch you up one of these days. Cass's Storytime Hour. I think it would be a huge hit. Your stories are my favorite on UA-cam.
The pizza roller, the apple.. I'm loving all of these pro tips! These are BUSY mom tips, not lazy mom tips!! We have so much to do everyday that it's nice having "cheats" here and there!
Victoria Marie wow Victoria Marie I'm one of your subscribers - you are my favourite scrappy youtuber! So happy to see you also follow Cass, my favourite organizing youtuber !
OMG - the stories you tell... I know you say that could only happen to you, but this time I think I agree. LOL... My first job was in a library, and I remember being surprised about the homeless population that spent time in the library. It was eye opening to 16 year old me. It helped to shape me in ways I didn’t realize until I was much older. I think I’m more compassionate and understanding because of my first job and the things I saw.
I found this too in my local community library. Sadly they are closing down so many public libraries where I am and it's really sad because it really affects the most vulnerable xx
I'm glad you just went with it. And you said you were homeless for a while yourself! That made me tear up. When I was born my mother was homeless for a while too, and some kind people took us in and gave up their child's room for a while. I think I'm gonna go call my mom now....Thank you for being so kind.
"I organized a grocery cart" AMAZING! I love it! What an incredible way to honor what someone owns. So beautiful. Proud of you for going thru with the class and honoring them as humans. ♥️☺️♥️☺️
LOVE the apple trick. I'll definitely be using that one! As for your library experience - Wow. Just Wow. I can only imagine how awkward that was. Thank you for sticking with the folks there and blessing them. Our town has had a couple of famous homeless men: John "the Cross guy" - who walked all over town carrying a cross on a stick - He was a very sweet guy. I chatted with him every time I had a chance too. And the waving guy. He walked all over town smiling and waving at everyone. All the time. No matter the weather. They are people worth knowing!!!
Oh I love the irony of that story 😁 You never know though .. maybe you gave some of them hope to have a home to organize. I heard the best way to minister to a homeless person is to not only ask them what they need but what they dream of. I learned a lot of them stay in their position because they stopped dreaming and don't see a way out. Once they have hope again, they can start to work toward their dreams. Sorry to get corny but really, you probably did more good than you know ❤❤❤
You know Cass, I've been thinking about your story time this morning and my mum always used to say to me "bloom where you are planted" and I think what you did was lovely... I seem to have befriended a homeless person in a car park I use and l keep a food parcel and some new socks in my car boot for when I see him when when we chat he tells me some really sad things that people do and say to him, so your 2 hours of positivity and your sunny personality probably made such a difference to everyone's day. Everyone needs a little bit of positivity to keep them uplifted. I know i would feel uplifted after a face to face with you.... no matter what you talked about haha!!!! Have a wonderful day Cass💗🙌💗🙌🙌💗🙌💗
Cass, that could only happen to u! I can't believe no one else came because u r amazing! I would have just ran away! Good on u for staying. I hope some of those homeless people get homes soon.
Prayerfully some of the homeless will have a home someday soon and be able to organize and keep it clutter free thanks to you. Just spending time with them and treating them as equals (which they are) make them feel better about themselves💕
I love the pretzel as the skewer. Not only does it add to the snack, but it is also zero waste. No little plastic sword going to the landfill. I can only imagine how difficult that presentation must have been, however, home is where you make it. You organized that cart, seeing it as a shopping cart, but to that person, it was their home, for now. You're awesome!
Your story is priceless. Seriously, one never knows just how this experience may change a person's life, at least giving them hope and incentive. God bless YOU! YOU are amazing!
Mary Huse I totally agree, you just never know how you impact other people by just being yourself. I'm sure her sunny disposition really cheered the room up 💙
I feel like you always speak to me ... I love your tips!!!!.. containers is a big thing for me!... pizza roller - genius!! And pretzel stack - how much genius in one vid!!! And your personality ... every video is just such a pleasure haha!!!..xx
God bless you for what you did.. some people have hope in having a home one day. And you give them something to think about and look forward to. I know there are some who are happy being homeless. But for those who desire their own place you gave them something to think about. God bless you
I don't have kids or pack school lunches so I just watched to see your story time- not disappointed! My heart goes out to you and your homeless friends, you must all have been cringing inside! It sounds like you had a great chat with Feather Hat though. Have you thought about volunteering with the homeless if you want to get one involved with your community, it sounds like they all enjoyed your company even though the subject matter wasn't relevant 😊You sound like someone who doesn't judge them for their situations which is very commendable 🌹
I remember that last homeless story you told. I laughed out loud until I cried. People are so touchy nowadays. Cas is a beautiful respectful fun person and would not be mean or offensive so chill out. Love your stories as much as your tips.
I think your story telling time at the end is just as informative, and entertaining as your first part of the video. Absolutely love your content each and every time. I thank you 4 sharing the information and sticking around. He just shows your character and your heart! Have a blessed day
Love love love your creative ideas. I will be doing something similar when I am babysitting my grand daughter, who is 4 years old. I sent the link to my daughter. As for your workshop, consider that you have planted seeds of hope for people to look towards. I believe, nothing is by chance. Keep on being inspiring.
Well just as you inspire many of us I think you very likely inspired the homeless people who came to your workshop. Having hope and dreaming of a better future is good medicine for everyone. I can only imagine the awkwardness but I know how your special kind of enthusiasm can encourage because you have done that for me many times. You blessed them with your time and gave them hope only you could’ve provided 😊💗💗
I’m a librarian and while I don’t work in a major downtown library I could relate to your story. I can picture that being an awkward situation but love how you handled it!
Thanks for sharing. I could totally picture the scenario and what you must have felt - sheer anxiety! You handled the situation very well, kept your composure, and most of all treated everyone there with respect and dignity. Well done!
I love this lunch ideas anyway you are very kind and you handled the situation really well. I feel like you can talk to anyone, you have that personality that is very catchy and fun to talk to.
Oh my gosh, these stories can only happen to you. I am never ceased to be amazed at the situations you find yourself in. I would have been mortified and probably wouldn't have handled it as well as you. But it sounds like the homeless who attended probably really appreciated your conversation.
Cas, only you! LOL! You most likely let them escape their homelessness for a short time and will remember and be able to use your tips hopefully in the future. Love your lunch ideas so much!
Why do I find this a weird kind of hillarious! Cass you are a sweetheart for going through with your class and being sweet with everyone speaks so great about you! enjoy your end of the video stories, this was the funniest one ever, awkard funny but it is what it is.
Bless you on your library efforts, you don't know who's life you touched. Homelessness is not always forever. Wish it could've been in Las Vegas as I am not homeless and would have loved the tips.🤗
It's still better than having no one show up. It was nice of you to empathize and nice of them to participate. And not all of them will stay homeless, so there's that!
Your story at the end was amazing! It is so reflective of our society today, isn't it? Some of them are suffering a temporary downturn - someday they will have a home; they just may remember your tips. Organizing a grocery cart for them totally makes sense. Their lives are already chaotic - having just one little piece of it orderly could make a difference to their mental health, you never know. All in all, you did a very good thing! :)
Thanks for the help with the lunches! I was waiting for your video because I've been pulling my hair out this first week of school. PS My mom was homeless for a while when I was little. She would of LOVED to hear your presentation! She was a homemaker before living in the park and some of my favorite memories are of her caring for the home. My mom has her own house now so maybe they'll have a place to make their own and will use the information they learned in those two hours. You never know!
Hey it might have been awkward to present a class on home organization, but you also gave them two hours of your attention, two hrs of normalcy, two hours of information they might one day be able to use. Also water, comfort and AC! That is very cool
Thanks for telling this story about your library presentation - I've had some really interesting presentations I've given as well. You are so not alone in the awkward.
You're an amazing lady, I love you vlogs. Maybe because you have been homeless before you were the best person to have been there. I truly believe things happen for a reason, you would have been a real blessing to those people in your community that day. Xxx
Cass, love the lunch ideas. Would love to also see what’s inside each bin that is labeled. Also just wanted to say that I’m sure people were blessed by your class. They may be homeless now but I’m sure and pray that most of those people will eventually find a home soon and they will remember your tips and would come in handy when that time comes. Also great idea on how you made it practical for them and helped them to organize grocery carts and even stayed afterward to hang out with them. Small things like that I think makes a big difference in the world. God bless you and may you continue to be a light in this world. 💕❤️
You are the best, Cas! This is the perfect time for this video. My second kid starts school this year and I was dreading having to make two lunches in the morning now, but these are the perfect solutions! I will have to find some of those containers. Man, but I can always count on your stories at the end of the video to cheer me up. Thank you, Cas.
Love the tips but it's NOT lazy, girl. You're still rocking the lunches. Those containers are great! And I have a whole fridge in the garage so I don't know why I never thought of making kits and sending the girls out to prep their lunch every night before bed. Thanks for sharing!
First of all- I just love you. The way you are so real, down to earth and own it. Your mannerisms are goofy in a way that makes me smile. I would just love to hang with you. Also- your hair is sooooo beautiful! I’m a complete nincompoop when it comes to hair.
I remember watching your videos YEARS AGO, I was still in middle school and it made me eager to getting my own house and organizing everything! I’ve just recently found you again And I’m so astonished at how much your videos have grown, I remember you didn’t even have a tripod yet 🤭 but I’m so proud 😂💓
You have such a great attitude. That library situation would happen to you. I think God gives you more than your fair share of funny situations because you do find the humor in them. Thank you so much for always sharing. Love all your tips and examples and things, but your stories are just the best ever!
My 7year old is about to go onto packed lunches so this was brilliant!! Now to go back and find your chalk paint videos as I've got my tin and brush at the ready!
When my children were in school, I LOVED making their lunches. They loved what I made for them, including the cookie cutter sandwiches. I made their lunches each night, after dinner, stored their lunch bags in the fridge over night. As their Mom, it was always a delight to make their lunches, getting creative with them, and always keeping them fresh and interesting, even with a son who always wanted a peanut butter sandwich .
What a lovely story. And tips on how to organize a grocery cart are probably just as good as tips on how to organize parts of the home. I look forward to hearing how the awkwardness winds up inspiring you down the road. You're so good with challenges!
Love all the ideas (even tho i'm packing lunch for me and the hubs-not kids) and I think you were perfectly lovely describing how things went at the library! You handled it well, and if you give off the good vibes and energy you do on your videos i'm sure those folks had a ball!
Thank you for the fast and easy solution for preparing lunch! I'm going to use it for all my meals. As a busy working person, I find it hard to prepare my meals daily and often end up eating at the office cafeteria and, at night, eating store-bought pre-heated meals. I developed food intolerances that mimick allergies, so I actually need to prepare my own meals to control the ingredients (down to the type of cooking oil). I always had this idea that I should cook on weekends and just freeze them, but it didn't work because I would freeze the food in large containers. What a simple solution to put them in the freezer in already small containers! Thank you for figuring it out for me.
I hated making lunches too. I put my kids in charge as soon as I could. I made a chart and hung it on the fridge. It said one fruit, one veggie, one entree, etc. I made the entree (sandwich or wrap) and they chose the other items. By the time they were in 3rd grade, and I went back to work full time, they were on their own. I am proud to say they still make healthy balanced lunches now that they are in high school.
Pretty sure it was YOU who gave me the idea for my daughters favorite lunch which is the pepperoni sticks cut up with cherry tomatoes and cheese squares all put on little kabob sticks. Its her favorite... As long as I can manage to make them without eating all the little pepperoni bits lol. So THANKS! 😁
Just because they are homeless now doesn't mean they will be forever. I am glad you still taught the workshop. You may have helped with job skills too. Anywhere I have worked I have always struggled with the organization side if things. And you're super entertaining so I'm sure they got a good show. Even if they didn't need the organizational skills.
Great tips on your lunches 🥪. Yes, I’m sure that was awkward for you at the library. But it sounds like you handled it well 🙂. I believe we’re put in certain situations for a reason. You probably made their day and didn’t even realize it 😊. You said you were homeless at one point? Well I’m happy to see that you are no longer, and have a beautiful home and family 😊. Have a great evening!
ClutterBug I know you didn't mean anything by your comment but getting out of homelessness isn't as easy as "growing up and being an adult". Most homeless females find a provider and learn to love them. Men dont have it as easy.
So hilarious!! You organized a shopping cart!! Good for you that you still presented to those who dont have a home yet. Maybe that day you gave them some hope and a dream of one day having a home. Great job! I usually just stalk your channel, but because your so awesome I thought I'd give you a shout out and send some love your way.
In our basement, we keep an inherited fridge from the 60s (with a hinge-pull and a serious snapping sound when it shuts). The freezer is shoe-box sized and I just don't use it much. Now I will! Your lunch station idea is perfect! Thanks, Cass
My husband and I took a trip to Canada a couple of weeks ago, in Windsor!! I was excited to hear that's where you're located. We just spent the day and I of course had to check out the Dollarama because I hear you talk about it and we don't have them in the US. I was so excited to just go to Canada and go to the Goodwill and Dollarama! Love your channel Cas, you are awesome and quite an inspiration!
You helped organize a grocery cart? You are a very kind person. Thank you for treating the homeless as you would treat everyone else.
You probably helped them more than you realize - for a couple of hours they were just people participating in a class held at the library - not a marginalized segment of society.
U both have said what I thought but way better than I could.
Agree!
I totally agree, I bet they really enjoyed her sunny personality too. Xx
I am in stitches. Your little stories are my favourite thing on UA-cam. How has Hollywood not discovered you?
I am way too old and too fat for Hollywood. Thanks though!
Oh my gosh... seriously, I think Netflix is going to snatch you up one of these days. Cass's Storytime Hour. I think it would be a huge hit. Your stories are my favorite on UA-cam.
Lulu Manu I agree. She's hilarious. I'm cracking up 😂
And the little quips "the sandwiches went on a little vacation to school"🤣🤣 I laugh so much at Cass' videos xx
Honestly! Someone get this girl a TV show!
The pizza roller, the apple.. I'm loving all of these pro tips! These are BUSY mom tips, not lazy mom tips!! We have so much to do everyday that it's nice having "cheats" here and there!
Foil and paper towels to keep the lunch warm...mind blown!!!! Thanks for that little nugget of info!! That is a game changer!
Victoria Marie I feel like that about the meat and cheese pretzel stick tip... So much genius in a cas vid!!!xx
Victoria Marie wow Victoria Marie I'm one of your subscribers - you are my favourite scrappy youtuber! So happy to see you also follow Cass, my favourite organizing youtuber !
Are you teasing and making fun of her? Or didn't you really knew this about foil?
Minna Minna I am totally serious. I never heard of this tip before and plan to try it for my daughter’s lunches. 😊
Cassandra Duchaine Cas is great! I’ve been following her for a long time!
OMG - the stories you tell... I know you say that could only happen to you, but this time I think I agree. LOL... It helped to shape me in ways I didn’t realize until I was much older. I think I’m more compassionate and understanding because of my first job and the things I saw.
I had NO IDEA that so many homeless people hung out at the library, but I never go to the downtown library.

Terry Elisabeth this is a wonderful way to view the situation! I hope that someone was inspired even if subliminally. I’ve never thought of that. :)
"I like using a pizza roller cause I'm *hella* lazy" 😂😂💕
Lol...well, I am!
I about died 😂 I can relate!!
I laughed so hard at that too 🤣
Haha! Love it!! Me too, girl!
Ahahaha!🤣 I seriously laughed so hard! I was like ding!ding!ding! That's so me!
Why have I never thought to use a pizza cutter ?!?!?! Ahhh - Cas the Genius!!! 😍
Mandy in the Making I thought that too... So clever hahaha!!
Haha Right?! 😍
That apple trick? Game changer- I love it! If you ever come down to the Midwest US for a workshop, I’d come!
YES! Come to the Midwest!! 😊

I think the real reason I watch is because you are such a funny, and genuine person with a good heart. Thanks for sharing

Great video. I'm glad I stayed to the end. Who knows how you inspired your library audience. You showed them compassion and care, which is priceless.
Mmm an apple with cinnamon cream cheese sounds amaaazing!
Love love love your creative ideas. I will be doing something similar when I am babysitting my grand daughter, who is 4 years old. I sent the link to my daughter.

Collis Carter I love that.... nothing is by chance🙌 and I'm sure her sunny disposition really cheered the room up💗
Love your story’s. You probably made them so happy just talking to them.
Adri's Journey totally, who wouldn't be brightened up by a 2 hour face to face with cas haha xx
Your stories..... The things you get yourself into! Don't ever change 😄
Well just as you inspire many of us I think you very likely inspired the homeless people who came to your workshop. Having hope and dreaming of a better future is good medicine for everyone. Cas, only you! LOL! You most likely let them escape their homelessness for a short time and will remember and be able to use your tips hopefully in the future. Love your lunch ideas so much!
Wow kudos to you for getting through that awkward event! You never know how your kindness will affect the people you spoke to.
Why do I find this a weird kind of hillarious! Cass you are a sweetheart for going through with your class and being sweet with everyone speaks so great about you! enjoy your end of the video stories, this was the funniest one ever, awkard funny but it is what it is.

It's still better than having no one show up. It was nice of you to empathize and nice of them to participate. And not all of them will stay homeless, so there's that!
That apple trick is flippin' genius!
I totally DID NOT come up with it. I saw someone filling one with peanut butter and I was like "THAT IS SO SMART"!!!
Also...that is a great story! Hilarious and a bit sad at the same time. ;-)
your last thing with foil and paper towels is mind blowing for me!
Sent this to my daughter who has a child in pre-K and a nearly 2 year old. So mornings are hectic. Great ideas. LOVE the end chat. You're the best!!😃🤗

Highnotes I think this is (one of) probably the nicest comment here, she really is so sweet and funny!
The lunches went on a vacation 😂 I loved how easy they are but still fun for the kids! Dollar tree has some great snacks and containers right now too
Hey it might have been awkward to present a class on home organization, but you also gave them two hours of your attention, two hrs of normalcy, two hours of information they might one day be able to use. Also water, comfort and AC! That is very cool
that apple trick is BRILLIANT!!!
Omgoodness!!! What a situation! You handled the library well. Wow!! 💗
Thanks for telling this story about your library presentation - I've had some really interesting presentations I've given as well. You are so not alone in the awkward.
Oh my goodness, Cas. I can't imagine what that library presentation must have been like. Good for you for just going with it.
You're an amazing lady, I love you vlogs. Maybe because you have been homeless before you were the best person to have been there. I truly believe things happen for a reason, you would have been a real blessing to those people in your community that day. Xxx

I remember watching your videos YEARS AGO, I was still in middle school and it made me eager to getting my own house and organizing everything! I’ve just recently found you again
And I’m so astonished at how much your videos have grown, I remember you didn’t even have a tripod yet 🤭 but I’m so proud 😂💓
Oh my gosh...i love your stories! The lunch tips are great too, but I wait for the end of the video EVERY time! You seriously are the best!
The foil and paper towel tip is awesome! I have never seen that before, I am definitely going to be trying it!
You have such a great attitude. That library situation would happen to you. I think God gives you more than your fair share of funny situations because you do find the humor in them. Thank you so much for always sharing. Love all your tips and examples and things, but your stories are just the best ever!
I am SO glad you said u like those containers. I have always wondered. Now I’m gonna have to try them.
I will definitely be using those ideas!! Love it. It was really awesome of you to not just leave. Im sure that those few hours meant a lot to them. ❤❤
I loved the story at the end. Good for you for going for it and I'm glad it led to something positive.
Thanks for the foil and paper towel tip! Will try!
I love this video thank you so much 😊 both my kids have struggled w food phobia and I’ve struggled as a mom packing their lunches this was so helpful!
God bless you for trying to do the right thing!
Combining the napkin with the foil 🤯 blew my mind! Genius
That apple idea is super genius! 😍😍😍
Great tips. Always love your story time segments. It sounds like you ended up having an unforgettable experience even though it was awkward.
Love all the ideas (even tho i'm packing lunch for me and the hubs-not kids) and I think you were perfectly lovely describing how things went at the library! You handled it well, and if you give off the good vibes and energy you do on your videos i'm sure those folks had a ball!
Hey you never know the library thing may turn into something even bigger and more wonderful! As always love your tips!
You are AMAZING!!!! GOD BLESS YOU! for being so kind you are so smart!!! Love you CASS!!!!
It was very kind of you to go through the entire presentation even though it was very akward and weird situation. You are a sweet woman, Cass.
Green Elephant and I'm sure they really loved her sunny personality!!.. she would brighten anyone's day xx
Also, you organizing the grocery cart. 💙💙
So THANKS! 😁
Your stories are always the funniest! Thanks for sharing.
I literally laughed out loud to your story time!! Oh wow you can pull off anything!! Bravo. I love your sincerity💕
Loved the apple idea!
Treating the homeless as people is the best thing you could do. Well done.
Yes, I left home very young and just...roamed for a few years until I decided it was time to be an adult.
ClutterBug I know you didn't mean anything by your comment but getting out of homelessness isn't as easy as "growing up and being an adult". Most homeless females find a provider and learn to love them. Men dont have it as easy.
matemahe Cass has spoken about her experiences before. She was homeless kind of by choice, which is not everyone’s experience.
matemahe She didn’t say it was that easy for everyone.
These ideas are fantastically genius!!!
You always make me laugh! You handled the situation with grace and respect! Way to go😅.
Awesome tips. Love the apple and pizza ones. Great job on your fridge snack station.
