I've been in 2 separate incidents in different apartments where a fire was caused by careless tenants. The most recent happened right above us where the landlord resided. This is why we now live in our own home. Some people just don't have common sense or the decency to teach their kids how to behave.
The apartment below my neighbor (at the time) had a fire caused by a tennant who was so physically disabled that he was unable to get himself clear of the flames when it started. He was trying to use a torch to light incense (but MJ seemed like a more likely possibility). Fire department got there fast and damage was contained to his apartment, but it was extensive.

New neuronpathways don't develop, etc. They're very interesting studies to read/watch. Also, as a 64 year old grandmother of 3 I was starting to get really angry that my grandkids were basically allowed unlimited access time on their phones, and they thought they could just behave the same way when I was babysitting them in MY home. How old were you when you understood it's wrong to destroy other people's belongings? I was in preschool when I saw two kids fight over a toy and it broke, so 4. How old were you when it finally registered there are consequences to your actions? I was probably 7, but by the time I was 10, the lesson was fully learned. A firewall would be located at the elevator wall: several units away. The fire goes upward first, gaining a foothold, then running along the level. This is in GOOD CODE areas in Canada where I rebuilt fire damage. If the heat gets going good enough, it can BLOW the firewall (usually just concrete bocks) apart and keep going.

Fire department got there fast and damage was contained to his apartment, but it was extensive.
i had a fire in my apartment when i was a kid (i was only 9) i was throwing a tantrum because i didn't want to go to the car dealership with my parents and sisters so they left me home without me.. turns out a little while after they left a fire started from the tv.. thankfully i survived and knew what to do.. but my mom had to go to jail cuz people thought she was endangering a child.. guys just know my mom is a LOVELY person and would NEVER do anything to harm me.. it was entirely my fault that i didn't want to go and the tv just had to explode on the same day i was home alone.. it's sad but thankfully it's been 10+ years and we've all healed from it and now live happily as a family :D
Parking in fire zones at apartments is extremely frustrating, both for fire and medical condition reasons. Some prop managers enforce it, most seem to not... but if you don't move your car for three days you better believe you're getting a nasty gram.

This is just one of the reasons why I don't do Apartments because someone's idiotic Behavior can affect your immediate reality just like that and since when are they referring to a 18 year old as a kid throwing a temper tantrum seems like some lack of accountability poured on thick when it comes to this situation I'm pretty sure that the people who lived around them don't think it was a temper tantrum when they have to rebuild from scratch after everything that they owned went up in this blaze smdh 😮😢
Yes, but if you drive or take public transportation…you can still deal with someone endangering you via DUI.
How could fire spread so quickly to 16 unit. Thought there were supposed to be firewall between units
A firewall would be located at the elevator wall: several units away. The fire goes upward first, gaining a foothold, then running along the level. This is in GOOD CODE areas in Canada where I rebuilt fire damage. If the heat gets going good enough, it can BLOW the firewall (usually just concrete bocks) apart and keep going.
once it gets in the attic you cant stop it and the closet where this fire started are usually the places in apartments with attic access.
@@austinlmbt24 and if it hits bbq propane tanks you're hooped; the fire dept. justly won't intervene. burn, baby, burn.
Nah, this building definitely didn't have proper firewalls. That's sad. I hope all tenants had fire insurance.
@@tbolton6156 What good is insurance? Arson nullifies your insurance
Bro. I thought we were talking about some 14 year old. Not a literal adult. I mean, these are potentially around 50 people total that lost their homes.
Thank you to the fire department! This could have spread beyond more than 12 units if it wasn't for your response and training!
It destroyed and or severely damaged SIXTEEN units, plus the contents, not just 12.
@@jb6712 yeah not sure where that person got 12 from lol
That's devastating! All those people homeless and all their things gone.
A lesson to be learned from their tragic loss: Always carry renters insurance if you are living in an apartment or you rent storage space!
I used to work with a guy years ago who lost everything he owned in an apartment fire while he was at work because the idiots who lived downstairs from him had the bright idea to operate a grill indoors. 🙄
I would disown him for some time. This is an embarrassment.
He has some major issues and needs to be held accountable. An 18 year old having a temper tantrum deciding to destroy a lot of lives and they lost probably everything. Try punching a pillow next time and he should have plenty of time in prison.
No self control or coping skills
Why is there no name and picture of the teen. He is 18 which is considered an adult in Texas. He shouldn't be protected from the media
Feelings are temporary but so many lash out as if anger is going to solve the problems it usually doesn't and only multiples problems
And as an 18 year old, he will now know what being charged as an adult means
Last year when I was 18, I went through mental and physical changes, but never thought of going too far. One year later, it’s getting better.
Wow! The fate of 16 families was in the hands of this fool? Of course he should be held accountable and punished as an adult.
Arson and attempted murder
Many of us have done really stupid things at that age but not of this caliber. I hope a GoFundMe is set up for the affected families since the Red Cross can only go so far. In one respect, it must be devastating to lose wedding and baby pictures, important documents, pets (?) perhaps even an (ashes) urn of a beloved family member. The damage he caused is so far reaching 😢
Yeah, and this is why he should be locked away forever and forgotten.
it actually happens more than u think.. i didn't start it but i had a fire in my apartment when i was a kid (i was only 9) i was throwing a tantrum because i didn't want to go to the car dealership with my parents and sisters so they left me home without me.. turns out a little while after they left a fire started from the tv.. thankfully i survived and knew what to do.. but my mom had to go to jail cuz people thought she was endangering a child.. guys just know my mom is a LOVELY person and would NEVER do anything to harm me.. it was entirely my fault that i didn't want to go and the tv just had to explode on the same day i was home alone.. it's sad but thankfully it's been 10+ years and we've all healed from it and now live happily as a family :D
Your anger broke that tv!
I'm glad you all are okay. No. 1, I am not dissing your parents, but they should have carried your butt out to that vehicle and made you go with them to that car dealership. No. 2, leaving a young child at home alone is just a bad policy, and once again, I am not dissing your mom and dad. I wish you all well.
Truly thank God no one died. I pray those families get what they need to repair their lives.
throw him away in jail. each apartment that burned down is how many years he’s getting 😡🤬
16 years? Feels kinda low for the amount of damage caused. Also considering, many of the comments are saying he's averaging around 25 years
@@echung168 ah ok well the more the merrier than 💯
Teens don't just randomly have tantrums that set fires. I'm more interested in the parents.
Same
If this doesn't put teen criminal behaviour into perspective, I don't know what will 😢
I pray for the families involved in this 😢
He's not an adult, males keep growing physically till 22.
The title seems biased. Hes a legal adult and they should be saying that in the title and description. Stop trying to play it off like he was a 13 year old kid.
18 is a teenager..
@@annaw1852 an 18 year old is a legal adult. He’s not underage.
@@MissBossy they didn’t say he was.. they said he was a teenager which he is
@@annaw1852 The way they worded the video can be misleading. Just look at other comments that are saying the same thing that iam saying. They should have included his age.

The human brain is not fully developed until age 25. The last part to develop is the frontal lobe, which is reasoning, empathy, and better judgment.
Crazy how one person can make such a huge difference, which can be good and bad
I used to live in a 1+1 for 30 years. Although it is a small complex (28 units), I thought about careless or deliberate action from any neighbor could make me lose everything……..
He could have killed someone. He needs consequences.
