Thanks for the recipe Ben! To anyone making these, do not overfill the rings, like I did, because the batter will expand with cooking and overflow the rings, which made an awful mess in my pan. Less is better in this case. So I got mad and just dumped the rest of the dough into the pan and made one giant crumpet. It actually worked complete with air holes! 😀 I found the crumpets a bit tough when you bite, and I think that will be the milk. Next time I’ll use water, thin out the batter a bit more as this was quite thick and be frugal filling the rings. I’m just not sure the length of time to make these is worth the effort since crumpets are cheap at the supermarket and I had a lot of dishes to clean up 👍😊 still it’s fun to try 😂
Having lived in London for six months afforded me time to get out of London and have a go at the charming countryside which always included a stay at a historical B&B where crumpets were king.
I just got my crumpet rings in the mail. Can't wait to try your recipe since it is a bit different from the one I used yesterday. My rings are not as tall as yours, but better than the egg rings I had been using. It seems Amazon doesn't carry the tall ones.
Brilliant to the point no chatting just got on with the job, my sort of man. Im going to try this.
Very clear and helpful info. Ive never made my own crumpets. Can't wait to try!

Thank you 🌷
Super
Why do you use milk rather than water?
WOW.. you make it so complicated . its much easier than that .
you should not use mile only water and they will be more fluffy with holes , yours look to much like bread dough, to think!!!
"No kneading?" Nobody kneads crumpet batter!
Haa haa 😝
I'm not sure what sort of dough cakes you've made there, but they sure af ain't crumpets.
Can you link me to an authentic and traditional recipe please?
Grease your rings
Yes you need to grease the "Crumpet" rings other wise they may stick!😂
