I like hearing the word perfect in this refurb venture. It's quit a task to take on, but it helps seeing a nice clean machinery design under the hood at 4:08. Shirt well deserved and long live vinyl. 👍
Nice job george. Looks awesome.
i have the mcs version ,i was planning to do the rca cable mod so thanks for uploading this
i subbed your channel as well
I did run into more problems with this turntable as you can see in a following video: ua-cam.com/video/0moXl3o7qCw/v-deo.html. The tonearm socket DIN went bad (not sure how after all the cleaning I tried) and I'm working on part two of the series on how to remove and reinstall the tonearm with a new DIN with new wiring already attached. I'm expecting the new DIN with wiring on Monday, April 15th, so I can complete the repair and part 2 of the video series.
Very cool George!
I just bought a SL-D3 off EBay yesterday, the auto version of the SL-D1 i used to have for DJing. Im curious as to why you added the dampening strips to the bottom of the platter and what was the material?
@@SteveV2023 the dampening material is called Soundcoat and I bought it from Parts Connecxion. If you hold up the platter and knock on it you will hear a high pitch ringing. After the Soundcoat is applied it quietens down the ringing. I'll be putting out a video demonstrating this with a platter I just got with a SL-Q3 that I bought. I'll send you a link when I get it uploaded and a link will be in the description of the video. Some people will say it's not necessary, but it does help with resonance.
My video on dampening the platter: ua-cam.com/video/4jtxx_3xvlk/v-deo.html
im unclear why you had to adjust the speed internally when these turntables have an external pitch adjustment
Not sure if you caught the part in my video or not, but I had the external switch (dial) maxed out at turning the speed down. With the switch all the way dialed down it still spun at 35 and 47 respectively. Turning down the internal pots I was able to manually dial down the speed with the extremal dial. It now spins dead on at 33 and 45. Hope that explains.
Hello,
I have a Technics SL-D202; the cueing is stuck in the up position and won’t come down. If the riser is manually pushed down, it goes right back up. It worked fine until I cleaned it, and this is what happened.
I haven’t opened it yet.
Any advice, or are you able to service it?
Thanks
I just happen to be refurbishing a SL-D202 right now! I'm working this weekend, but if you email me I could send you some pics of it opened up and show you the mechanisms that move the cue lever. It could be that it needs to be cleaned and lubed or possibly one of the arms the move it inside have come undone?? gwcurts@gmail.com
