I was lucky enough to go and see Yes play, on this tour, at the NEC, Birmingham. In 1991, the "ABWH" members and "90125" members joined forces for the "Union" album and tour. The show was really great; the album less so! Rick Wakeman would call the album, "Onion", because every time he listened to it, it would make him cry!
Favorite band of all time after Zep. Just hard to beat. Musicianship, lyrics, composition, they can change your opinion on music and existence. heh 😊 Ty for reaction!

I was 18 and most of the other stuff from Yes I heard was old. I finally got a Yes album that was more relevant to me, told all my mates and they said it was crap while telling me how great Michael Jacksons Thriller was. No accounting for taste I guess. Yes for the win IMO. My favourite Yes song would have to be Owner of a lonely heart but before that track it was Roundabout and I've seen all good people. Dont mind this track either.

In 1991, 8 of the musicians involved reunited to form a "Yes big band" (2x guitar, 2x keyboards, 2x drums, 1x bass, 1x vocals). YES is probably my favorite band but that 2nd guitarist as you guys referred to, (I think someone posted below, said Buford?) seemed to be playing his own riff that didn't seem tied to the song. It was like his own little audition to show his skills as a guitarist in the middle of a great YES song. I'd probably enjoy him playing with Zappa or maybe Hendrix just bouncing riffs off each other.
That's some impressive playing. Had that been me playing, I would have been like Eric Morecambe. All the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. ( If anyone is wondering what I'm going on about check out Morecambe and Wise, with Andre Previn )
@nonrepublicrat I found it quite tasty. But I enjoyed all Rabin-era Yes. Also his Can't Look Away album. Feel he is quite accomplished. Like it better than every Yes album after Talk, but none before Drama.

I saw this concert. Sorry to respectfully disagree with the majority but it wasn’t the best I’ve been to, and I’m a true Yes fanatic. I think it was the venue, as the sound was way too distorted. This one is better ❤️
I would listen to the studio albums first before any live videos, as apart from the Yessongs and Yesshows albums the live versions can be a bit inferior, as in this case.
Full disclosure … I remember the album version which was much shorter and concise … Soooooo I only listened to 3 or 4 minutes and wrote my reply then went off to go to sleep ….. it was only when I was getting biffed over the heed by Owl that I listened in full to this song and it DOES go on and on and on… and became the sorta Prog guff that led me to becoming a seething Punk in 77… the basic song is great .. it’s just the way it’s been s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d…. which has dragged it down on this version …😟 👍🏴
Yes, the original live Howe solo was much more frenetic and attention-grabbing. I found the Rabin solo to be scrabbled. For sheer joy of playing live, the Yessongs 'Perpetual Change' exemplifies talented musicians have a great experience on stage.

I honestly was about to click away when I saw this was a Trevor Rabin incarnation, but lo and behold there's Steve Howe. And both Bill Bruford and Alan White!?! Rick Wakeman AND Tony Kaye!?! He is a brilliant guitarist and if I had 1/10 of his talent I could call myself a musician, it's just my least favourite Yes line-up. Good job guys.

I got as far in until Trevor Rabin destroyed the classic era sound. The Union Tour is a clear example of too many chefs in the musical kitchen.
