Hello everyone, Some additional notes. 1. If you don't see any Face sets colors assigned, you can still follow the tutorial without them and there should be no problem. You can use enable topology setting instead in the brush menu. 2. If you would still like to use Face sets feature, In Edit face mode, select similar mesh faces (L) and switch to Sculpt mode. Then in the face sets menu, use "Face set from Edit selection mode". 3. In Blender 3.5, the remesh grid shortcut is now "R".
Thanks for the help on how to fix this. When creating the object for the blocking stage, what do we need to do to ensure Blender picks up the face sets automatically?
@@VegnagunII Blender just sometimes skip creating them automatically and this might be due to some program bug or setting which I may not know yet. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Maybe in future versions, it will become more refined. A simple test of joining some objects and switching to sculpt mode shows it may not work always (using 3.3). Better is to use the face sets menu if needed.
i find your tutorials very useful. Easy to understand, no useless information, dunno about the other beginners, but it was very easy to follow step by step

All the features you used (Especially the QuadFlow Remesh feature) were explained in great detail and helped a lot. Thank you!
This tutorial just teaches you about: sculpting (i really improved a lot because of this tutorial, i would say around 50% of improvment), grid fill (wich can be used on another model made by you), Remesh (Really useful and vital considering you want to sculpt), Face Sets (Another essential thing to learn if you really want to sculpt), and many other, we can just appreciate this masterpiece of tutorial made by Farrukh!

Hi, If the model part turns black, then first check it has a vertex color property (color attribute renamed now) assigned in data properties. Then fill the object with a color (shift K in vertex color mode) The name of the vertex color property should be the same for all parts. You can also use a mix color node if you want to retain the original color. Connect it after the color attribute node. Check my vertex color tutorial for more details on this. Hopefully, you will be able to understand it better. Thanks!
Another great tutorial! I feel like you're videos go at the perfect pace, where they feel relaxed but still well paced. When you do the level 3 subdivisions, is there any benefit to having the rendered subdivision amount set to 2 while the levels viewport amount is set to 3?
Thank you very much! For the 3 level subdivision, if lower value is set then rendering will be fast to check how sculpt looks. It can be increased for final shot. However, viewport lower value improves performance but affects sculpting smoothing in editor.

Thank you very much for your comment! To select loop press alt and click to select all faces or edges. You can also go to select menu in the select loops category assign custom shortcuts or add to quick favorites.
day 1 of trying this cute cat out only got up to 2:48 though cause it was late. but tomorrow i will be finishing it off then posting it as a short to compare the differences :)
Hi so on you're cat video where you sculpted that cat would you recommend trying to sculpt the body just using other cubes with subdivision surfaces and then sculpting that then combining them I'm trying to make a character but with a human body?
Hi, Yes you can sculpt that way with a human body shape as well. It is good way. Make sure you original base mesh has enough faces or polygons to sculpt on. Then subdivision modifier will give better smooth result. You can also use mulitres modifier instead it will allow to sculpt more fine details. The process is almost the same as shown here.
Hi, if face sets are not showing you can still sculpt without them. In the brush menu, turn on topology setting it will work in the same way. Hopefully it will be not difficult. Also please check you applied the modifiers and reset scale before sculpting.
Hi, Thank you! Apply the mirror modifier first on the ears (click the apply button in modifier) then join them into group. That should fix it. Head object has no mirror modifier so it removes the ear mirror modifier.
Thank you so much! but I have a problem, I follow you tutorial step by step, but at the end the vertex paint didn't work. when I turn to viewport shading mode I can see the color I paint, but when I change to render view mode, it will disappear, how can I fix it? I'm using on 4.0 ver.
Hi, Thank you for your comment! First check you have connected the "color attribute" node to the material base color in the shader editor. Set the same name in the color attribute node. It will then show in the render view as well. Hopefully it will work.
You can check in blender 3.6 if it is installed or try it a new empty file with just a simple cube to test if vertex colors are working. It can be some setting or bug. You can then import your work in the new file.@@Suzuna99

If you could give me a tip on how to solve this that would be great.
Hi, Save your file, close and restart blender. It can be some display bug. Also check there are no two objects created. Check in the outliner. This is most likely a glitch that happens in Blender. I hope closing file and restarting should work.
@Farrukh 3D Hi, unfortunately, this didn't work and I still dont have any clue what is causing the issue. I will try to recreate it again as im still in the beggining of the tutorial and if it happens again i will post somewhere for help. Thank you for your advice.
@@ronnie1264 Sorry to know about that. Try to download the latest blender version 3.5 and see if it works in it. Other thing to try is to copy paste the 3d objects to a new file. Sculpt in a new file with simple objects to test.
@ronnie1264 Sounds like you had two collections and forgot to exclude the second collection from the first one. So, in scene collection area, you have all of your collections, right? Well, each collection that has a checkmark will show up and be editable when modeling on the project. Just disable one of the collections, and it should work like normal.
It will reset rotation, position as well. The object will move to center origin, rotation pivot will become straight losing it's changed rotation. It is not useful here. Try it and see how it works. Mostly scale is used in many cases.
14:03 the remesh is not working for me the higher the faces I put in the more problems there is I tried to convert it to mesh then do it but it doesn’t help
Hi, please check if 3d toolbox addon is enabled. Click the manifold button to remove issues. Then apply remesh. If high faces gives problems, then try low value. Test with both symmetry on/off option. Use the smooth/relax brush in sculpt mode to clean some distortion areas manually. If without symmetry works better then delete the other side and add a mirror modifier to make both sides the same. Hopefully, it will work.
Hi, When a cube is sudivided, it will create clean quad based polygons which are good for sculpting. A UV sphere topology consists of triangles on top, lower sides which are not best for sculpting and create triangles when subdivided which can add artifacts during sculpting. That is the main difference although not always needed to use a cube. I hope this gives some idea.
Hi, Yes you can use remesh and create a low poly version of any model. If the model is static and not animated it can work. However, remesh topology will be not so good when UV, texturing or animating the model will be needed. Otherwise, this method is quick and applying a color material or basic texture will work. Depends on which method gets the job done. Both can be used.
Hi, you can separate the object then fill it with any color it. Select all faces of object which need a different color in edit mode (L key) and separate it (P key). Then you can color it. Other way is to use face paint mask (vertex paint top menu small box on side). First select faces then go to color in vertex paint. Try it out.
Hi, Thank you! The shorcut is page up / page down to switch between different subdivisions. Important to note is that this works in sculpt mode. Other shortcut is ctrl 1, ctrl 2. Try it, hopefully it work.
Great! Im stuck when you manifold, I get some holes but he main thing is a big seam barely visible dividing the model? any ideas.. also i use a more voxel than you, can´t get it to look like yours.. gahhh haha
Hi, Thank you! Yes, some issues do come when remeshing, holes mean some faces are open or thin. See if joined objects are not too much distorted. For Quadiflow remeshing, try with disable symmetry option. It can remove manifold problems. Next add a mirror object with clipping and bisect option. Use Voxel size which retains the most shape. With some practice you will get better results
hi farrukh, i want to ask something, can you animate this cat?, because im new to blender and this is my first model and i want to animate it, but idk where to start.
Hi, sorry this is not optimized and designed for animation. I would recommend checking low poly modeling tutorials with rigging for animation. Better to start with something simple first. There are lot of good resources here on UA-cam. See grant abbit or pirreck picaut channel.
thank you so much, i've been wanting to learn how to model in blender. this is the best tutorial i found so far! how do you go to curve edit menu? i cant find the keys to open it.
Thank you for your comments! For curves, press tab to open edit mode and select any one point. Then you can move it or extrude with E. The process is same as going into edit mode for other 3d objects.
Hi, You can continue without faceset colors. Rest of the sculpting process is same. Blender sometimes may not assign any colors and this part can be skipped. Thanks.
Hi, This was my first model in blender and the tutorial helped me a whole lot! I am just wondering how do you get the display at the end with it spinning on the green background? thank you!
Hi, Thank you for your comments. For the spinning animation, I have used the turnaround camera addon built-in in Blender. It creates 360 degrees of camera movement around an object. Here is my tutorial if you like to check it. ua-cam.com/video/i1uaQQYlYy0/v-deo.html
Thank you for all your videos! They have been so so helpful. I am having an issue with my mask, I was doing the mouth and I didn't like it so I cleared the mask and now when I try to draw it again it will not show up on any part of the sculpt. I was following the panda video..
Thank you very much for your comment! For the mask issue, make sure the object is active (alt+q) and then clear the mask from it (alt+m). Check the mask strength it should be 1 to remove it fully. Exit the sculpt mode and enter again. Also the mesh polygons should be high number now very low poly for mask to show smoothly. Try masking other object to see if it works.

Hi a really love your video, but I have a question about the page down and up, is the "P" their shortcut? cause if it is, dosent work for me :(
Hi, Thank you! The shorcut is page up / page down to switch between different subdivisions. Important to note is that this works in sculpt mode. Other shortcut is ctrl 1, ctrl 2. Try it, hopefully it work.
@@Farrukh3D thank you so much, have a nice day :D
@@Farrukh3D Thank you for fast reply! Disabled the symmetry and got no holes or seam! Hurray! hahah
Wery useful, thanks ❤
Thank you!
hi farrukh, i want to ask something, can you animate this cat?, because im new to blender and this is my first model and i want to animate it, but idk where to start.
Hi, sorry this is not optimized and designed for animation. I would recommend checking low poly modeling tutorials with rigging for animation. Better to start with something simple first. There are lot of good resources here on UA-cam. See grant abbit or pirreck picaut channel.
@@Farrukh3D now i understand, thanks for the tip farrukh👍
@@Farrukh3D if i may ask, why it cant be animated farrukh?
thank you so much, i've been wanting to learn how to model in blender. this is the best tutorial i found so far!
how do you go to curve edit menu? i cant find the keys to open it.
Thank you for your comments! For curves, press tab to open edit mode and select any one point. Then you can move it or extrude with E. The process is same as going into edit mode for other 3d objects.
thank you!
😘😘
Thank you!
4:05 im using blender 3.4 now and i cant see the colourful things can someone help me
Hi, You can continue without faceset colors. Rest of the sculpting process is same. Blender sometimes may not assign any colors and this part can be skipped. Thanks.
@@Farrukh3D thank you sir
Hi, This was my first model in blender and the tutorial helped me a whole lot! I am just wondering how do you get the display at the end with it spinning on the green background?
thank you!
Hi, Thank you for your comments. For the spinning animation, I have used the turnaround camera addon built-in in Blender. It creates 360 degrees of camera movement around an object. Here is my tutorial if you like to check it.

nice tutorial man! thanks a lot
Thank you!
Wonderful tutorial!!
Thank you very much!
عالی😍
Thank you!!!
Guten Abend, ich bin leider beim Katzen Schwanz hängen geblieben, da ich das mit dem Raster irgendwie nicht einstellen kann um die Schwanz spitze zu formen vielleicht kann mir da ja jemand helfen
Hello, I will share another way for tail end, Convert it to mesh. Remove any polygons in tail end, Press F to fill the tail open end. Next select that tail end face press i to inset polygons. Move the mid face out. Other way shown here is selecting all edges on open end and using the grid fill function. Set the properties to adjust it. Hopefully it will work.
@@Farrukh3D Vielen Dank für die Antwort doch leider lässt sich alles Meshen nur der Katzen Schwanz nicht. Habe schon vieles versucht es lässt sich alles Meshen nur der Katzen Schwanz nicht.
6:10 remeshing
Face set colors is not showing for me, I have to manually add it and it's taking a long time
Hi, you can skip face sets. You can still follow the steps without them. Just enable the topology setting in the brush menu, it works same way.
