I like to think the Loki show is the path to inner peace. If you let go of all words, time, and space, you can achieve enlightenment.
Mind you, you won’t have anything else left, so you might as well call the nothingness you will feel enlightenment.

I have stumbled upon several UA-cam shorts about Loki turning into the tree. The people commenting on them seemed genuinely moved by Loki becoming the tree, and wrote grand sweeping paragraphs about how amazing it was, and how well it concluded his character. Mainly because he had a throne, and he talked about thrones sometimes in the movies. This confused me then, and now that I have a little more context, it REALLY confuses me.

If this was a villainous Loki, I could see why that would be the case. It’d be like a dark inversion of the Loki we were first introduced to in Thor who went down a path of self reflection ending with his sacrifice in Infinity War, but now he’s gone the other way and become a malevolent autocrat with far more power than he ever could have dreamt of when he was merely the prince of Asgard.
But this show has gone to great pains to show that the character we’ve been following is a good guy who just wants to help his friends and save people, not conquer or dominate. So how is becoming a time god a fitting ending for this character? If anything, he should be more selfless than the “main” Loki who died to Thanos.
As they said, it’s just pure nonsense and by thinking about it, you put in more effort than the writers did. 😂

I genuinely cannot believe that “Infinite timelines are infinite” is supposed to be the dark, shocking twist that shows all our heroes’ efforts are in vain.
Seriously, I mean… SERIOUSLY?! You have only JUST figured out that the multiverse not only allows but *necessitates* infinite possibilities and universes once the artificial limits have been removed? That wasn’t something you were already taking into account - as if we also wouldn’t accept an “infinity loop” or something being added into the loom would account for this, there are absolutely no limits or consistency to this at all so there’s no reason you can’t just do that.
I have just been staring into space for several minutes at the stupidity of this revelation. There’s no way they wrote this and thought this was appropriate for a season ending twist after the travesty they put us through. Once again, I didn’t spend a penny on this and I still feel like I want my money back.

I know I'm betting against the odds here, but the end MIGHT be closer than anybody thinks. It could be that the showrunners are already contemplating slowing the whole saga down to a stop (or, more probably a trickle) IF profits don't rise back to a desired minimum.
They'll never publicly admit it's over, of course. They'll start by quietly cancelling various productions, and slowly let the released films catch up to what's left of the announced slate, hoping nobody notices the end creeping up on them before it happens.
From there, just to keep Marvel Studios open for a while, it'll be down to one, MAYBE two films every three years. Mostly isolated projects, very little in the way of continuity. And if even those fail to generate interest, the studio folds.

It's a fixed point in time. Silvie is meant to win, the only way to stop her is to kill her which Loki contemplates and even goes back in time once he's able to control the time slippage to talk to her and let her know that it's the only way to save the sacred timeline, and she tells him to do it if he can live with the fact that he'd be erasing free will and would condemn them all in the process, Loki decides to instead sacrifice himself by using his life force and magic to hold the timelines in place and freeing his friends but at the cost of never being able to be a part of their lives since he's essentially the god of time now. I thought the show made this quite obvious?

they really could've toyed with that more. its a really interesting story. maybe if it wasn't part of the MCU, it was just a one-off original story, and the entire film/show was about a character with spaghetti time abilities (spaghettilities, if you will) groundhog daying his life to try and stop the worst say of his life, ending in the sacrifice of himself. maybe have an arc of selfish to selfless, coward to hero, something like that.

This Loki is clearly regretful for what he did in Avengers, so, it would make sense for him, once he's free to do what he wants, to visit Thor and be like "Hey, uh, the other me died and I'm a variant of his and... look, it doesn't matter. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry and you don't need to feel guilty for how things worked out between us. I was a total brat."
It's weird that he's willing to go to such great lengths for OB, but won't even say hello to his brother. You can't give him a new characterisation that would make him into the kind of character that would want closure with his brother and then just not do that. Even just a mention of "I wish that I could see my brother. I wonder what he's doing right now," would be better than just not acknowledging it.
It's also weird that one of the only times they mention Thor is when Loki is like "Yeah, my brother's cool. Not Baldur, though, most people don't even know he exists, and he never got to say goodbye to Odin. That would have been an awkward conversation if me or Thor ever talked to that loser," and the biggest mention he gets is from that kid Loki who is apparently the best of all of the Loki variants because he killed Thor. That was kind of lame. Like, great, Kid Loki, you probably killed your brother when he was a weak little kid like you, that surely makes you the best Loki.

    • @mrshmuga9
      @mrshmuga9 2 місяці тому +2

The only way they could possibly explain it, is if it was “ever-expanding” but the _rate_ at which it does is different. Adding one sand grain to a pile every day forever would be “infinity”, but it’s also way different than doing it every minute. That’s the only way it could make sense because “infinity” is present in both scenarios, so it has to be a different variable.
They could still do this with the (albeit stupid) way the story is currently written. Loki’s decision at the end of season 1 gives everyone free will, which multiplies the amount of timeline branches. They then try to fix it over the course of season 2, and at the end Loki sacrifices himself so everyone can have free will like he wanted. Instead, the characters (and likely writers, lol) don’t know why the loom can’t handle infinite timelines when it did already, or even quantify how “infinity” is somehow now _more_ “infinity” than before. Then Loki is able to avoid being melted because [citation needed] or able to handle managing all these timelines, especially when like Thor he can die. He just lives longer than most creatures. Which means the problem will come up again once he dies.

I have no idea what tree Loki does. The options were ditch the loom, multiversal war, or keep the loom, no free will.
So somehow Loki must be doing the good parts of both. He's keeping free will, but he's stopping the war. My only guess is he's seeing all timelines forever and if one becomes a danger to other timelines, Loki snips it or tweaks it or does something to stop the threat. So long as a timeline doesn't make itself a threat to OTHER timelines, Loki let's them be. So if Thanos gets the stones and snaps half the universe, Loki leaves it to the Avengers, but if Thanos gets the stones to fire his laser at another timeline, Loki destroys the timeline.
That's my biggest brain guess, cause they don't actually explain shit. The problem with that is.
THERE'S ALREADY A CHARACTER IN MARVEL THAT DOES THIS!
He's called the Living Tribunal, he oversees every timeline, he's the One Above All's right hand in the multiverse, and he's incredibly powerful. If he judges a timeline is too far gone, he can annihilate it to protect the rest of the multiverse. Generally he doesn't do anything and it's the people living in the universes who need to handle their own shit. He's the impetuous for people doing it themselves. Either do all you can to beat the bad guy, or god's judge will just destroy everything.
Why is LOKI doing that? Does this mean Yggdrasil doesn't exist? Like Loki is the world tree now? Well that fucks up some more cosmology! They've never even glanced at the comics.

With the bullshit in the first episode about Loki disappearing from all time lines unless he was retrieved, they easily could have made up some equal level of bullshit to delete all the Kangs. Or for an evil Chad Loki finish, intercut a growing, evil smirk with different versions of Kang disappearing (they have enough footage of him to poorly CGI that), maybe even replacing him with extra Lokis.
If they wanted anything meaningful for Sylvie, Loki could have proofed her to Asgard, to find a family that might care for her.

The visuals of Loki, the God of Stories, becoming the one who guards/nurtures the various timelines in a giant tree-shaped web is pretty brilliant. The name Loki likely originates from the Germanic 'luk-' which has to do with knots or loops. A cobweb/spider web is also known as a 'lokkanät' or 'lokkenet' (Loki's web) in some Scandinavian languages. I mean, it makes sense, and then the Yggdrassil imagery on top. Sure, why not. Branches and whatnot. But...
I just wish the two seasons leading up to it were better, and that this Loki had actually earned his glorious purpose. This is 2012 Avengers Loki who just invaded New York, killed a bunch of people, and then escaped to another timeline with the tesseract. This isn't the Loki who redeemed himself and became a hero - that guy got his neck snapped by Thanos in Infinity War. This Loki was a villain a couple of weeks (and a century?) ago. He hasn't earned shit.

Why did the timelines die when the loom broke when timelines existed before the loom was created? How is it possible for all timelines to die, and the tva still exist even if it’s “outside of space and time” considering it requires people from the timelines to form the tva? To Loki, or not to Loki? That is the question-
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of Kangrageous fortune,
Or to (literally) take arms against a sea of timelines,
And, by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep-
No more-and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache and the thousand natural shocks
That watching the MCU is heir to-’tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished! To die, to sleep.
To sleep, perchance to dream-ay, there’s the rub,
For in that sleep of death wet dreams may come
When we MCustans have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long a continuity.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
Th’ TVA's’s wrongs, Ravona Renslayer’s contumely,
The pangs of Miss Minutes love, good writing’s delay,
The insolence of Disney, and the spurns
That patient chat of th’ unworthy takes,
When Whedon himself might his justice make
With a pirated Final Draft Pro? Who would MCU fans bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after the MCU's death,
The undiscovered country from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought,
And Secret Wars of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. -Soft you now chat,
Here come the unfair Marvels! -Nymphs, in thy orisons
    Be all my sins remembered.

Legit question.... what does this entire narrative have to do with Loki?
What about this nonsense makes it so that Loki has to be the center of it? None of it deals with his magic power, heritage, inter galactic inter pantheon conflict. It's literally just Loki cause he was popular.

Brand recognition, Tom Hiddleston was fine continuing with the MCU (unlike some actors with Endgame), and they needed Disney+ content. How any of that works is tossed onto staff who don’t know or care what they do, and unfortunately, neither does the audience as simply, existing is enough for a lot of them. Or was anyway.

Groundhog Day stories are a really great trope to not only explore your protagonist, but also put him through hardship, setbacks, and loss, to push them to their limits. It is also a trope that does not need a lot in terms of setup, location, or even characters. This should have been the focus from the get-go for Loki, setting up the idea in the first episode, paying it off in the second, and then repeating it throughout the season to reach this point. Instead it felt like they kept the looping part hidden until the 5th episode, while teasing different time traveling tropes (see Loki pruning himself). This really felt like a mess of ideas, with some of them actually neat, that just does not make even a lick of sense.

Season 1 fucked everything up. Season 2 pretty much put everything back to the way it was before season 1, including restoring people's free will because Loki is now keeping the timelines going instead of them being pruned by the loom.
As a whole, it's complete nonsense. But at least season 2 tried to undo the damage that season 1 did and more or less succeeded (?)

    • @Necromancer4267
      @Necromancer4267 2 місяці тому +5

In what way is Loki needed to keep the timelines going...? He's the *new* loom. If the goal is for the timelines to be free, then he isn't sitting there wrangling them. They are already free. That's the entire concept of a multiverse. That is how time existed immemorial before Kang. Multiversal free timelines is the DEFAULT.

If Loki is the centered of literally everything, can he not view into infinite timelines to amuse himself? Also, why can he not move from there? He just needs to be a center point. Wherever he moves, can it not? And can people visit him? Is the radiation still a problem? Will the shits not protect them from radiation?
