Seamus: *pretending Sea of Monsters doesn’t exist*
I hope he’s just pretending, it’d hurt him to find out it exists so long after
I think that is the entire fandom tho
Yeah I kinda liked the first one (and I’ve read the books) but the second one was bad.
Its so bad even semus cant rant about it.
No, don't do that to him
Ok, who’s gonna tell him they made a “sea of monsters” movie? No one?
Hailey Hughes don't do that to him
Thats literally what I commented 😂😂😂 I don’t think he will be able to contain his angry when/if he does a video on it
Don't you dare * hits Kristoff's chest*
_no that movie does not exist_
Well, if he does find it then... SEAMUS RAGE!
Why the heck is persephone in the UNDERWORLD its fricken SUMMER
Ohh yeah
This is one of the 2 big reasons why i dont like this movie, they messed up actual GREEK MYTHOLOGY i think the hades and persephone myth is one of the more well known ones (correct me if im wrong) and honestly it would have taken like one google search. I also feel like it should have been Poseidon's pearls if they were going with this plotline so that they didnt change greek mythology, since in the original story it was given by a nereid who is under Poseidon's domain and rule
@@lotuscrystal6991 ya
I didnt even think of that💀😬 it really is ine of the most well known myths i learned it in primary school when i was like 10
And why does she call it Hell? It's the Underworld for gods sake!
The first time I saw the movie, they showed annabeth and I was like: “oh it’s clarisse!”
It was not clarisse...
She acts like daughter of ares but she’s daughter of Athena... 🤔
Movie Annabeth is Clarisse but badly made 😭😭😭
when they showed Clarisse in the second one I didn't even recognize her as Clarisse
Yeah i could never tell Annabeth and Clarisse apart
No, you were right the first time, it was Clarisse, they just renamed her, and tried to ship Percy with her for some dumb reason. Then in the second movie they introduced Clarisse, but the exact opposite.

Lightning Thief can’t be the worst movie adaptation when the sequel, “Sea of Monsters” is even worse
Does Seamus even know there is a sequel?
Jack Matias he said at the end he’s glad they didn’t make a sequel... I think he’s in for a rude awakening when he finds out 😂
IMO the only redeemable quality in Sea of Monsters is “get off my roof!”
Both of them suck 😖
artemis foul the movie the books were good and then the movie was crap
If you think the lightning thief is the worst, then you obviously haven't seen the sea of monsters
True
Yeah I can at least say Lightning Thief is somewhat enjoyable in certain areas but Sea of Monsters...ouch how did that even get made?
At least the got Annabeth’s hair closer but that’s about it
@@efc8467 Yeah but it was so noticeably forced. They might as well have kept her as a brunette, and in regards to the actress, Alexandra Daddario, I thought she looked better that way.
Yes
Not to mention how much they butchered Annabeth’s character. In the books, Percy probably would have died 100 times over without her. In the movies... She’s dead weight. He literally beat her on his first week at camp. She sucked. She wasn’t as smart and strong. She was even interesting. In the entire movie she was getting saved. They turned her into a simple love interest with the personality of a potato.
@Mickenzie McGraw Ouch. The sad truth. =/
@Mickenzie McGraw Don’t even let me talk about Ginny. I might just explode.
@Mickenzie McGraw No, but I’m disappointed in how they took a strong female character and made her a useless idiotic brat.

They did my Quidditch queen...REALLY dirty in the film....😭😭😭

Holy shit, I'm glad I'm not the only one and was thinking of commenting this. No joke, I thought she was Clarisse for the first 5-10 minutes that I saw her in the movie.

When I read the books and then got to know that there were movie adaptations of the books, I was SO excited. When I saw the movie I did feel like crying and during the movie I was continuously complaining (like "no, that's wrong"). Never saw the film after that
I haven’t actually seen the movies, but I want to watch them JUST so I can point out the wrongs and stuff..I like to torture myself don’t I? 😐
Even Rick Riordan hates the movies, that should tell you all you need to know about them 💀
The woman who wrote "I Know What you Did Last Summer" hated the film adaptation, the film is a cult classic. The woman who wrote "Mrs. Doubtfire" hated the film adaptation, despite is being hailed as a hilarious comedy. The woman who wrote the "Marry Poppins" books hated the Walt Disney classic. Roald Dahl didn't like the "Willy Wonka" film! A good film or not, NO! The fact that that guy who wrote the books hates the films doesn't tell me anything!
@@RossPitSharkHunter Here's why the point you made is invalid because the authors of all those films had reasonable points to latch onto the film that they would not like. For example, Roald Dahl disliked the musical aspect to the film believing it took away from the story, your point would only make sense if EVERYONE in the community that read the book enjoyed the changes made to the movie and/or the director didn't make ANY changes from the original novel which as you can clearly see with all your answers is not the case. The fact that Rick Riordan, an author who painstakingly crafted an alternate universe and enjoyed other adaptations of the novel readily despite a lack of professionalism (ahem the musical) shows a lot about Rick Riordan's likes and dislikes. The authors you mentioned disliked the changes made to the movie (however minor they may be) and not everyone likes those classics you mentioned after having read the novels. Also, people very much have preferences about whether the book is better than the movie, so that's another reason your point is invalid because people prefer some of the books in comparison to the movie because they believe the book was written better (giving another reason for the author to have a stance on the movie). From Rick Riordan's favorable comments on the musical, you can tell it wasn't the changes that off-putted him but the utter lack of regard for Greek mythology as well as casting choices looking nothing like the actual characters in the musical. He also hated the characterization of Grover as they completely changed his personality. In all of these cases if the author hates the movie it means something was off-putting about the movie to them, and tell me have you ever actually read all of the books you mentioned before watching a movie? The author hating the work shows a) change from the original novel and b) a concept that IS off-putting to people. Furthermore, your lackadaisical statement relies on the evidence that no one knows who Rick Riordan is as Rick Riordan has rarely shown disdain for a work of fiction or anything related to his book and even encouraged authors writing about it to continue their work. An author so famously acclaimed for finding the good in every work of art hates a movie based on his own, this should tell you everything you need to know. Perhaps a little more research is required on your end to understand the meaning of what an author hating a movie based on his work means. That too, all I said was "it should tell you everything you need to know", the movie is nothing like the books, how is this any new information, and how does this contradict the examples you gave? All the movie adaptations will not pertain exactly to the book, but coming from an author who disregarded changes to the medium or format of something as bad the statement that the movie was horrible tells you that the movie wasn't just changed, it was changing that disregarded past events and changes that resulted in less character development with the characters, plot, and the building of the world. Your examples showed acclaimed authors who disliked changes to the original work, my example was about an author who didn't mind changes but hated the movies due to its lack of effort in making these effective ones.
@@doodleproductions7552 Well, fair enough. Sorry if I sounded harsh or anything like that in my original reply, when I read it through I thought it sounded fine, but reading it again it could come off as aggressive, which wasn't my point. Frankly, those are well thought out arguments, and clearly, you care about this a lot since you've written a thesis on it here, far more than I ever would, so I commend you on that. I suppose a difference in our philosophy might also come into play here, personally, it doesn't matter to me what any author thinks of an adaptation of their work, to me it just gets in the way of enjoyment, so I've just stopped caring to look into a lot of things, and only really know about them through whatever passing conversation I have with someone, or a video I watch, or something like that, and I like it this way, personally. You do care, and you seem to like that. So I understand and agree with much of your argument.
I should also say that I don't know anything about Rick Riordan other than he wrote the PJ books, he dislikes the films, and apparently, he's a cool dude, so yes, I am indeed ignorant in some of this, and to me, he is just another author, but I also feel like someone who doesn't know anything about the guy should also be allowed into such a conversation, I think it creates a nice split of opinions.
Quickly though, there is one thing I do want to point out, not to argue or anything, I just find this one interesting, in my first example the author who disliked the film for "I Know What you Did Last Summer", Lois Duncan, actually has a really sad story for disliking the film, so the book had about 1 to 2 deaths total in it if I remember correctly, and the film was made into a total slasher film, and the author apparently disliked how it glorified teenage violence, which was not helped by the fact that(I believe after the book was written) her daughter was murdered, and they never found the killer, so yeah, terrible tragedy, I just thought it was interesting.
@@RossPitSharkHunter That last story is very interesting, I think I may have come off as aggressive and I apologize (I'm actually very passionate about theatre and basically movie adaptations so heh got carried away)

Right? Like he'd been at camp for y e a r s, and was such a role model for everyone. IKR. She was and always will be my favorite Rick Riordan character and they disrespected her so badly
And Grover he was shown to be the "cool guy" in the movie but is very shy in the book

They didn't make a sequel...? Are you saying The Sea of Monsters is so bad that you are just going to deny it's existence?
Yeah, hope so he is or it would hurt him to know.
The sea of monsters is the movie where they introduce stuff and all. Because the plot demands. It's all so bad.
Unfortunately, against both better judgment and Seamus's headcanon, Sea of Monster is indeed a movie (using that term very loosely) and somehow manages to suck just as badly, then spill a little extra sour sauce all over its climax catastrophe.
@@chromoglv7103 I don't know. I mean I want to see his take on it. Especially since it defies his expectations, and managed to retcon the previous movie, and tell a different story along the way. Hell the plot is even more rushed. Plus, if you hadn't realized sea of monsters exists, wouldn't you be too curious to not investigate. Like being unable to turn away from a car crash.

And now we just need you to talk about the Percy Jackson musical it was recently released it for public schools to preform the musical
My school must perform. I audition for Annabeth. I will be Annabeth. I do not care if someone else is Annabeh. I will be Annabeth.
What is with me and Annabeth?

The only people who like this movie, haven’t read the books.
Yeah I actually kinda like the film as I watched it first which I really regret but when I read the books I realised how bad the movie was
Darth Maul same
While the movie wasnt great, it wasnt really that bad. It was an enjoyable kids film if you forget about the books. The second one though... cannot be enjoyed
I used to like lightning thief and sea of monsters
And then I read the books

Rick Riordan received a tweet from a fan saying that the Lotus Casino scene was censored on Disney +. (They sometimes black out inappropriate scenes)
He responded by saying that he would talk to them about it, and that it was a mistake.
He had requested that the whole film was censored.
All hail Uncle Rick!
The main thing on my brain when you showed Luke was "wait, where's his scar!?"
That scar, or well how he got it, was one of the main reasons (if not the tipping point) that made him turn to Kronos. It was fucking important for his character arc, and they couldn't be bothered to use some make up? It might LOOK like a minor detail, but it absolutely is NOT.
True
Yeah
Me and Avatar the Last Airbender fans: you ain't the first.
The scar is always left out for some reason (in most of the adaptations of differwnt thing i watch). It's so FRUSTRATING!

I’ve recently got into the books (so hello new fandom!) because Percabeth fanart kept coming up on my fyp cause I was looking at character fanart for another ship who looked very similar to Percabeth (it’s Bellarke if any of you were wondering), and I thought why not give these a shot cause they look fun. And I really like the books so far, they show realistic reactions to situations, that suit the characters’ established personalities and ages, and they’re just good fun tbh.
But when I asked people on the website if I should read the books first or watch the movies first, they told me not to go anywhere near them. And tonight morbid curiosity got the better of me and I checked out the first movie.
What in the hell did I just watch?
The plot changed so much! And the Annabeth thing REALLY annoyed me. She didn’t even call him Seaweed Brain! (I mean I couldn’t even get past the first half an hour so idk if she calls him Seaweed Brain at any point in the rest of the movie) But why did they feel the need to change her appearance! And her age!
I liked the books because, even though they were facing fatal threats, they just seemed like a few kids having fun, while saving the world. But I loved the Percabeth dynamic in the books, cause it showed a good friendly rivalry that I can relate to. But from what I saw of the movie, it didn’t seem that way at all, and she seemed more like Clarisse in the CTF game.
I didn’t finish the movie and now I’ve watched this video I now know I don’t need to. THE BOOK IS THE ONLY CANON I ACCEPT!
If you’re going to discuss/rant about anything with me in this comment then please be aware I’m currently only reading book 3 atm so no spoilers! (I’ll try to remember to edit this comment when I finish the books so you don’t live in fear of spoiling things 🖤💚)
To be honest with you, I went into Percy Jackson pretty blind and thought he was going to be the son of Zeus.
To be honest:
Who didn't? Like we probably could have figured it out if we looked at the book cover, which has a bunch of sea symbols but who pays attention to the details?
Annabeth: 👁️👄👁️
Hermione: 👁️👄👁️
In my defense, he was also holding a lightning bolt.
Also nice Luna pfp.
They actually made a second one and THEN cancelled the "franchise".
sacrcasm
@@JWCurry I mean it doesn't count as a franchise if it just has two movies and is meant to have five so yes.
Seamus they DID make a sequel and it was WORSE sadly we didn’t know that when we bought the dvd
The worst part is that the director read the books before filming the 2nd movie but it was much worse than the 1st movie (he supposedly didn't read the books before the 1st movie)
Muahahahaha! I never bought the dvd! I watched the movie for free and didn’t have to give them any money for that terrible film!
We don’t speak of that movie you fool
I saw it in theaters as a "birthday" present (it came out two months after my birthday). It was horrid.
I think the second movie is better than the first because it has the main villain in it... and Clarisse as well I guess. But it was still horrible
The Percy Jackson movie looks like it was written/produced by someone who read a memo from someone who read a memo from someone who read an 8th grader's summary of the Sparknotes of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
I think that the people defending this movie by saying that the adaptation doesn't matter is so stupid, because these movies suck by themselves anyway. If you separate the movie from the book you get a bland, boring, generic fantasy movie with annoying and boring charcters, a really contrived and nonsensical plot, a completely horrendous villain, nothing funny, nothing emotional, and nothing fun. I dont understand how people can defend it when it's just a fantasy movie that you've seen a hundred times with nothing good added to it.
“I’m glad they didn’t make a sequel to this!” ...uhm is someone gonna tel him?
I did the deed
okay you can tell at the end of the video, he's just pretending that sea of monsters doesn't exist. He can tell it does, but it's so much worse than even the first film no one wants to acknowledge it's existence

My mom literally was suspicious about Luke being evil since she first watched the film. So was my dad and grandma. None of them had read the books either.
Is bugged me so much that Persephone was in the underworld when the movie takes place around the summer solstice. Like, isn’t her whole thing the fact she make the flowers bloom and stuff so she’s in the mortal wrold during the spring?
I know! It's not accurate to the book OR the myth
So the Lotus Casino is like the Lotus Island that Homer describes on the Odyssey, where the habitants are numb and mindless because of the Lotus seeds that they consume.
The modern representation would be something that sucks your soul and makes you forget the real world by gambling. Pretty clever. (Maybe it’s obvious but I just needed an excuse for talking about how awesome Rick’s representation of everything, even the smaller details)
one of the things that annoyed me so much was that its was explicitly said in the books that having gadgets for a demigod is like suicide because it'll act like a beacon for monsters, then in the movie that was yeh, luke had atleast 2 screens there and percy has a phone
Fun fact about Hades, he had the best marriage out of all the gods. Despite the way it started
