Great Video! Was thinking... due to the added simplicity of building/setting up the vertical log grill in the video above, what if one were to add 3 more logs (to close each gap in the 3 logs that are secured by the 6 wood-dogs) then adding 3 wooden log legs secured with some wire!? A "6" log design would likely be faster and easier since one could skip/avoid finding, splitting and cutting out the center core of a very large log...plus...smaller diameter trees/logs are much easier to manage and also typically more common. Would be very curious to see how well a 6 log vertical grill of such design would perform with the metal pipe heater that was shown in in the finnish fire log video(!)
Absolutely awsome. Love this channel. For holding my Finnish stove pieces together I carry a 3 meter piece of dog leash chain and a heavy duty spring. I wrap the chain around the pieces 2 times and can use the hooks on the spring to attach the chain however the length is right. When done using, it goes into a leather pouch not much bigger than a wallet. Thank you for this channel. Your friend in Oregon USA

For 18 years have not been able to get out to the woods for many years. UA-cam videos take me to the woodsn forests. Thanks agian from Tampa Florida. 🇺🇸 USA
Max I about died laughing🤣 when you talked about gluttony with your potato and meat hunks on your vertical Grill that looked absolutely mouth wateringly delicious by the way. You have an amazing jovial disposition and a sense of humor, on top of all your astonishing skills. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Please keep them coming. Your country is magnificently beautiful.☺
I've been an outdoorsman my whole life, and this just goes to show that you never stop learning!! Totally awesome video, gave me some new projects to tackle! Большое спасибо!!!
I found it interesting when you said you weren't biased from your hunger as you had already eaten one shish kebab haha it's like going to the shop while hungry. In Irish there is a saying "Is maith an t-anlann an t-ocras". It means "hunger is the best sauce". It's why even simple meals become these incredible feasts at the camp fire. Great spiral idea, I'll be trying it, thanks!
You are so humble... two heads are better than one? It is obvious that all you need to do is maintain your health. You really don't NEED anyone else to thrive! And, that's awesome! Inspiring! 👍
As a scout leader, one favourite was a simple flour and water paste, rolled into a rope and wrapped around a green stick. Cooked over a fire, then filled with butter or jam. A lovely treat and easy to teach to kids. Great show bye the way. 👍🇬🇧
Sir, you absolutely must write a book with detailed instructions and step-by-step pictures of your projects while making them. I love watching your videos. I've said this before, you are some kind of evil genius and so creative. While I love watching you on our favorite UA-cam website, one day humanity may need the information you're sharing to rebuild society and I know of very few people in our time with the ingenuity to create the things you do. So simple and yet so vital to human survival. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and thank you for sharing all this with all of us.
Greetings from UK - excellent work, young man! You are also doing a good job at international relations! Vladimir Vladimirovich should give you a medal!
Every video is intriguing, instructive, fun and inspiring. There is so much to learn. Did you notice how Max supports the limbs for hand sawing with his legs? As a kid we watched Tarzan movies and then acted out what we saw in the forest /swinging from vines, building primitive shelter, fighting imaginary panthers... What fun it would have been to see these videos and mimic the bushcraft in our forest. I send links to people doing home schooling for their kids.

I know what makes primitive dyi tools attractive to me. I see elegance in simplicity & I'm draw to it. I love solving problems or make things without electronics. A geometric construction or some short-hand way of doing arithmetic or water level is fascinating to me. I admire this guy for his use of primitive tools & his creativity in solving problems & clever ways of doing fanciful things, like this cooking method. I don't think I'd ever be that creative.
This young man's vlog is very educational and inspiring to watch. You are a genius anyone watching your vlog can survive in any situations stranded in any mountain. Amazing!!! 👍♥️

Finally.......I am old and alot of this has been forgotten and lost. My grandparents worked and showed me how. I worked with the work horses, used wood stoves and out houses......I remember my grandparents getting electricity at there house. It was a 40watt bulb...and that was blinding. Compared to the kerosene and oil lamps. You can spike you meat and potatoes in the ground if you want over coals....your way is better with heat all arround for even cooking. Always have the meat at top of spice so the grease and flavor runs to the potatoes. You did good young man !!!!
Ever since I saw this video in 2018 I have been thinking about those spiral "kebab" skewers you made. They are not easy to find. I guess this just shows the convenience and quality that comes with being an expert craftsman (probably master, someday). I am a Mechanical Engineer myself, and I think you are living the dream many engineers share. Working with your hands, being able to make what you need, fix what needs repairing, and greatest of all; living in a house that you built with your own two hands (and some woodworking tools).
Richard Proenneke said "i just season my food with hunger" and he worked hard, much like you. You have experienced something few will get to, i am envious

Hey Brother, about the spot in the video at 10:47 where you show the smoke catching fire. Most people do not understand that wood does not burn ! When wood is heated to the temperature at which it starts to turn dark, the wood will begin to emit vapors (mostly carbon-monoxide) which is what burns. It is similar to the same thing with petroleum , as where the petroleum vapors burn, not the petroleum. Carbon-monoxide is a fuel and it will burn, and it can be explosive. Just ask any professional fireman ! Great videos and good information. 😁😃
