@@mark1A100 Elves was fine and almost always keeps one landers in pauper. The deck only runs 13 lands. You just want one to get the mana dorks to board
Part of me was hoping Elves would win so the finals would be a rematch of that one time Andrea and Toffel had to build budget decks in 20 minutes at an event
I like how the semifinals consisted of 2 old decks vs each other and 2 new decks vs each other representing the best of 2 eras of pauper. There is something wildly satisfying having the oldest pauper deck in the tournament and the newest facing off in the finals.
I could watch Felicia and Thoralf having fun playing Magic for hours. They're both radiating excitement thoughout the whole video, it's an absolute pleasure to witness; also great chemistry! :]
Felicia is a GREAT addition to the channel and I'd love to see her more often. I know she's primarily a pauper player but I'd love to see her doing more things on the channel since she has great screen presence and chemistry with with the rest of the crew
I know I say this a lot but I LOVE Goblins so much. Many of the cards in the deck were among the first Magic cards I ever owned when I got into it last year, and it was the perfect tribe to get into the game with.
We'll unfortunately probably never going to do a legacy version 😕 we are not experts in that format in the way we are with modern/pauper/pioneer/standard. We'd probably missplay through most of our rounds and you all deserve better than to have to watch that :P
I mean it's the classic creature matchup. So much of a classic that the very first match of the Gathering duel text they did involving creature types was elves versus goblins.
@theelectricant98 The two foils that came with them were Ambushed Commander for elves and Siege Gang Commander for the goblins, if I recall, and it came out in 07 during Lorwyn. I actually remembered my LGS pointed out that they were not standard legal. Although the real first duel deck was the Champion versus Creator deckmasters, which was a product that had World champ John Finkel v. Andrew Garfield. It's actually where the only foil version of Necropotence with the original art came from. Just some fun facts for you.
Fantastic battles. Completely called it wrong, thought elves would smash it. Very entertaining and love the strategy aside chat to help explain the reason for the plays Go goblins and Felicia in the final!
Probably not, unfortunately. We are not legacy or vintage experts the way we are for the other formats, we wouldn't want to publish a tournament with a bunch of missplays :P you all deserve better than that
It's possible my old Elf deck is still sleeved up in storage somewhere... My childhood stompy deck... good times. Almost a shame to see them run-over by the red tide. Good games though.
This elves deck reminds me so much of the kitchen table elves deck my friends would play when I was in elementary school! I remember thinking wellwisher was a broken card that shouldn't be allowed. I mean it's so much life! How are you supposed to beat that?!
Not sure why people voted for Elves in the poll. I hear Elves don't like removal. And i hear Goblins have lots of removal. This match justed proved that.
Please see game 2 of this match. It was all about the fact if the gobos can stick a spark smith on the field before the elves get a timberwatch elf or a hydroblast.
Interesting how no player faced each other twice yet didn't switch decks, because each player won exactly once in the quarters. Guess the finals can't happen because we ran out of match-ups.
ok prediction then I'll post after watching the video: I'd say it will be pretty close but I'd give a slight advantage to elves. One thing for certain though, it will be lightning fast games :O ... thinking about it I thinks this favours goblins ... Okay I'll say goblins.
right, so yeah, those little gremlins ... pretty strong :) Again, and I can't stress this enough, consistency is key in these matchup, and the goblin deck is very consistant ... not to mention veerrryy straighforward to play. See you next week to see if it can measure up to all that glitters. This will be another close match up and I think we can expect a 2-1 win. ( I'd give a slight advantage to all that glitters because I think it is slightly more consistent that goblins and still pretty quick ... also some card drawing abilities and the unblockable golem which can kill pretty quickly).
I'm curious about the unkicked bushwhacker in game 2. I feel like going all out would've been the best play, even not knowing Thoralf's hand at the time. Cause it seemed like that turn was do or die. Was it because of the Timberwatch + Quirion?
It was already over, but they make a point not to scoop until it's very clear to the viewer (who they assume is fairly new to the game) that it's over. Saving the team for blocks at least showcased to the viewer why even then it wasn't going to be enough to survive the elf onslaught, vs. him just attacking and dying on the crackback (which would have left some newer viewers confused why he didn't leave up blockers). There was no ideal play pattern here, so they showed the pattern that clearly demonstrated why elf was going to win the game.

Licking the hydro blast and sticking it on your forehead is a power move
I had to laugh so hard when he countered with his head 😂
The graphic overlay changed to "revealed card". Love the details.
Elves vs. Goblins is such a classic of MtG.
I'm not surprised it took 12 minutes to get resolved
Yes that was the long one - good game.
Goblins and Elves are here for a good time, not for a long time.
@@outputcoupler7819 Good things, when short, are twice as good.
it took 30 yrs and it's still not resolved
You know Pauper - and these two decks - are a wild environment when both players keep a 1 land hand and are happy to do so.
I mean elf wasnt happy there he just did it
@@mark1A100 Elves was fine and almost always keeps one landers in pauper. The deck only runs 13 lands. You just want one to get the mana dorks to board

One of the best videos they’ve ever made
Oh my god
Yeah, that video is a classic. "I'm buying 4 sol rings."
I like how the semifinals consisted of 2 old decks vs each other and 2 new decks vs each other representing the best of 2 eras of pauper. There is something wildly satisfying having the oldest pauper deck in the tournament and the newest facing off in the finals.
Scripted!
I really like the entire cast of this channel, Felicia's been such a good addition
I could watch Felicia and Thoralf having fun playing Magic for hours. They're both radiating excitement thoughout the whole video, it's an absolute pleasure to witness; also great chemistry! :]

That Hydro Blast play.. that right there is why we love Thoralf.
12 minute Best of 3... I feel like I know how this one is going to go.
Avenge those squirrels, Felicia!
the excitement these two have is infectious!! i had a smile on my face the whole video. really hope we get to see more felicia in the future!
I know, right? They were having lots of fun. Loved the video
I knew it was an uphill battle for Elves but WOW that game 3 hand for Goblins was good for keeping the early stuff off the board.
Huge fan of this series - I’ve been wrong about every matchup but have loved seeing each match!
How could you be correct?
There's a 14 years old deck, with no banned cards, that is in the finals now ...
I really want to see this series with Legacy.
We love lighting bolt in this house
babe wake up card market posted another pauper tournament video!
Again 1 am in Japan. After the gym watching card market has been a great end of the day. Thank you guys, rooting for the goblins!
Is it me, or Felicia is in every video very adorable :-) Great series as always. You are doing great job guys, keep going please! :-)
She is! It's a mystery how she effortly does it :)
Thoralf is too funny. Love him man and thanks for all the joys guys!
I know I say this a lot but I LOVE Goblins so much. Many of the cards in the deck were among the first Magic cards I ever owned when I got into it last year, and it was the perfect tribe to get into the game with.
Felicia and Thoffel have great chemistry. Best match so far.
GO FELICIA!!! Super excited to see her getting to the finals.
Finally, magic as Garfield intended
Excited for the Legacy version next!

It's clear they are both playing their favorite tribes.
And so surprised that those decks are old and still pack a punch.
I mean it's the classic creature matchup. So much of a classic that the very first match of the Gathering duel text they did involving creature types was elves versus goblins.
Very neat, i didn't know that

nothing but clean and classic play. your channel is so lovely, please never stop.
I wonder if anyone's ever done like a lore video about the history of Goblins in magic? And if someone has, perhaps Elves someday?
What a blistering game of creature combat.
Fantastic battles. Completely called it wrong, thought elves would smash it.
Very entertaining and love the strategy aside chat to help explain the reason for the plays
Go goblins and Felicia in the final!
Bold move playing a “None of Your Business” in the main deck there Thoralf
goblins vs elves is the oldest rivalry in all of MTG! Love to see it
8:51 "and I'll play another bushwhacker, unkicked." *Goblin music stops*
This right here is the true final for 12 year old me. I was obsessed with Elves vs Goblins, still love to play EvG using only pre-8th Ed cards.
I want to make a non mtg comment. Felica's top is amazing and i want one myself now.
Pretty crazy for such an old deck to perform this well
I could watch Thoralf and Felicia play any time. They have such good chemistry
Not a pauper player but love this series, and love seeing Felicia! Definitely have her on more. Does anyone know if she does MTG content of her own?
She does not, she's just a friend of ours that we invite on the show, not an official content creator of her own :) maybe kne day
Was not expecting a 12 minute 3 game set, I thought this would be a one way stomp because of how short it is
Well played! This will be an interesting finals for sure!🎉
Ah the classic matchup of the first duel decks.
I'm curious, when you do the cut aways to explain your plays, do you film them after the game? Or do you step aside during the game to film it?
They've talked about it before. They shoot those after the match, but I think they take quick notes during the match to record their thoughts
Wow this was over so quick 😂
Can't wait for the finals !
Heck, since month youtube stopped giving me your notifications !
The double aggro "Im on the play therefore I win" matchup
very nice match, I loved it
Yay, Felicia! I love Toffel but she's my favorite to win it all now!
Dude watching Goblins vs Elves... a freaking CLASSIC match up. This was even a duel deck set up at one point wasnt it?
Not these exact lists, but yes :) it's one of the most classic Duel decks
I absolutely love this series.
I'd love to see more tribal vs tribal duels!
Goblins vs Elves! It's the magic duel of my childhood! :) #teamGoblins
I saw the video time first and was suprised it was soo short, then I saw Goblins and was soo long.
Red deck wins!
It's funny that you show colossal dreadmaw in the intro when we know that it's banned in pauper or every deck would just be 60 of him
My money's on goblins- can't wait to see how this game goes!
Edit: wow, that was BRUTAL. I love how aggressively these pauper games play out!
Oh boy here we go
more best deck ever series please!
I have a feeling Toffel likes MTG quite a bit. He seems to be enjoying himself :)
i love how all that glitters affinity is ATG which is so close to ATOG
I love this series
Toffel is such a delight. That forehead hydro blast lol
Will yall ever make the best Legacy or Vintage deck series? That would be very fun.
Probably not, unfortunately. We are not legacy or vintage experts the way we are for the other formats, we wouldn't want to publish a tournament with a bunch of missplays :P you all deserve better than that
Great games and great players!
I'm so happy to see the deck i hate so much lose !
i feel like this is one of those scenarios where the finals was in the semifinals, i think affinity will roll the floor w/ gobbos
Loved this whole series! Does anyone know where I can get the decks lists, as…dare I say it…I’m going to start playing pauper 🎉🎉🎉
NOOOOO!!! I was hoping Elves would take it. Oh well, we can only get so lucky.
It's possible my old Elf deck is still sleeved up in storage somewhere... My childhood stompy deck... good times. Almost a shame to see them run-over by the red tide. Good games though.
Let's go, gobbos!
9:00 the biggest disrespect ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the series!
Let’s go! Goblins for the win! I’m rooting for you guys.
Great games can’t wait to see goblins take down affinity kinda like the modern games
LETS GO FELICIA!!!!! My favorite part was when you slaughtered all those poor elves 🤪
gobbbbo! i saw more people voted for elves but i knew smol li'l uglies would win!
Great series!
thoralfs instant speed concede game 1 was hilarious
This elves deck reminds me so much of the kitchen table elves deck my friends would play when I was in elementary school! I remember thinking wellwisher was a broken card that shouldn't be allowed. I mean it's so much life! How are you supposed to beat that?!
Wellwisher was one of the cards that taught me every deck needs removal, still can't play a deck with a solitaire plan.
That's why I removed Sylvan ranger, island and Distand melody for Winding way and Jaspera sentinel with side 4 blue elemental spell and 3 hydroblast
Thoralf licking his cards hell yeah
I'm so happy ❤
Felicia ran that like all the best red decks that have rushed me down over the last 3 decades.
I’m going with goblins on this round
How is this goblin deck so strong wtf ITS A DECK FROM 2010 WITH NO BANNED CARDS I DONT UNDERSTAND
Goblin Sparksmith seems like a completely reasonable card thats not at all doing a 3 for 1 every time it hits the board.
Goblins were always gonna beat elves, I mean, it's practically what they are for
Ah forgot about Sparksmith when voting. Shoulda stayed with my initial vote 😅
Goblins vs elves really are like either the goblins overwhelm you really quick or the elves stabilize after turn 4 and overwhelm the goblins lol
I love these tribal duels also shes great love to she more of her(sorry I forgot her name Im commenting at start of video lol)
At least it was over quickly, so my sadness can be short-lived
its pops, like a popper. some elves are 2/2, green for usually 1+1mana.
I thought there might be more elves than removal but sparksmith and sideboard put pay to that idea.
@marcocamposaguilar9681 I saw all 3 games. Goblins lost game 2 mostly because they didn't have removal.
I didn't expect Elves to win, but I voted Elves because I wanted them to
both are good archetypes.
I keep waiting for Thoralf to win with his Pauper Elves...
Interesting how no player faced each other twice yet didn't switch decks, because each player won exactly once in the quarters. Guess the finals can't happen because we ran out of match-ups.

Spoiler:
Aaaaaand the full cast of CARLmarket are out of the finals!
It's OK :) we'll come back for revenge in the next series 🥳
I can’t believe Goblin’s are going to finals they gonna be stomped
Goblin is very good against creature based decks, in every format I guess
