Thanks for sharing your lovely memories of your Grandmother. How wonderful that she inspired you to create a glorious butterfly which would also be gorgeous on top of a parcel for someone special. I'm glad I did not purge my UTEE last time I purged my crafting supplies. 🦋🦋
So very pretty! I used a paint pen and labeled my versamark pad tops “dirty,” and “clean.” When I use the clean one mostly up, I put the top labeled “dirty” on it and take my “clean” top and put on the new pad. Then I throw out the old dirty pad and extra top and I’m set for another 9 months or so. I thought I was the only one who continued to use a dirty pad!
That is the most beautiful butterfly! When I emboss die cuts like the butterfly, I make a handle out of thicker card stock and tape it to the back. Keeps your fingers from getting burned.
It did cross my mind to do that that this time, it’s the heating from underneath which is trickier, but the butterfly was large enough to be able to do it half at a time. Great suggestion though 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing this. I know it was a while ago, but these tips and creative ideas that you have are phenomenal and thank you for sharing. Absolutely beautiful and your grandmother would be proud of what you’re doing.
My grandparents were very old school children should be seen but not heard but I got down on the floor and played with all five of mine and hope they will remember me fondly. I forget to put on the apron until I spill something on myself. Gorgeous card as always and you make my coffee taste better when you have a new video. Thank you
Hi. Those butterflies really do look like enamel brooches and they are stunning, a fabulous addition to any card or craft project. My Grandma always wore a tabard style pinafore and would whip it off quickly as she walked up hallway whenever she had to answer the door. Thank you for sharing your amazing skills and your superb card. I hope you're husband is getting better and that you have a lovely weekend.😊
What a beautiful technique. I love the colors you used on the butterfly and the stars and embossing powder just take it over the top. Thanks for showing how this is done.
When I saw the butterfly on your desk, it reminded me of grandmother's who wore enamel brooches too, so I was happy to hear of your memories. Just stunning is the Luscious powders, gold mirror card, stars and UTEE are together! Made for a stunning card as well. Hugs, Brenda
Beautiful butterflies so realistic looking, in fact I did think one was a broach the colours are stunning and love your ideas in putting it together. A lovely gift from your friend, my grandmother and mother wore the sleeveless over dresses you described, I can still picture them now. Thank you and take care.
That butterfly is so pretty, and the products you used to color it are just fab. When I was a little girl I gave my mom a butterfly brooch for mothers day. It was a massive green one, bestudded with rhinestones. I'm sure to me it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.😂 She did wear it to church that mother's day..not sure about any other day. ;) When my mom passed in 2017 there in her belongings was the massive butterfly brooch. ha Good memories.
Your Grandma obviously had very good taste. I think you did her proud with your make today Christine. I have the Nuvo glitter paste and now need the lucious powders. x
Gorgeous butterfly, Christine! Love the iridescence of the colors and enjoyed the memories of your grandmother. Mine always had an apron,as did my mom when I was growing up.
What a beautiful butterfly. You could easily fix a pin to the back of it and use it as a brooch. I love what you did with it. It’s stunning. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent. - Dawn 🌅
Beautiful butterfly! I love using UTEE, especially when I sprinkle a dusting of Perfect Pearls or PearlEx powders over the molten UTEE. While the UTEE is still "liquidy" I tilt the piece and let the powders flow with the UTEE. It looks almost like the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis.
I have to say I think this is my best video yet, I absolutely love 5is butterfly and I would be putting a pin on the back and only wearing it on special occasions. It is gorgeous. I don’t have all the products You have but I sure am going to try to come up with something. Thank You so much for sharing. I throughly enjoyed my coffee this morning watching this video. 💗
Gorgeous butterflies and card. I have a few of my grandmothers brooches and two of them are enameled butterflies'. I hope Phil continues to improve. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.
When I have something small I need to use a heat gun on I use a popsicle stick with temporary tape wrapped around one end which I then stick to the back of the item. Gives me a handle to move the item but keeps my fingers away from the heat.😊
Oh, I love this effect! It would probably look amazing on heat resistant acetate, like real seethru butterfly wings. Your tips are great! Thank you! 😇💖🙏🙌
Those butterflies are simply só gorgious! Thx 4 sharing! BTW especially with the ultea high powder, you can add the next layer right after you put on the first layer, it will stick fabuously without the versafine, like you do with the stars, and saves so much time and effort, works like a charm, also with regular powder if you are fast.
Hello, magnifique ! C est poudres sont superbes c est évident ! La technique est super et l envie de ces produits va me faire faire des commandes😅. Merci pour tout. Bon wk 😊
So beautiful ! I made some similar butterflies once with heavy cardstock and turned them into pins for Mother's Day cards. Have you seen Tim Holtz media mat? It is non glare, heat resistant - I have seen a few makers use it. Seems like there is always some new must have toy :) Thank you for sharing. Your videos are always a pleasant start to my day!
Fabulous, did you not inherit the brooch from grandma? Loved my grandmother, called her GeeGee. She loved me more than anyone ever has, grandmothers are the best!
the sad thing is I have a vision impairment. So I have a hard time seeing any shine on anything. I do it because I know it is pretty and the people who receive my cards will appreciate it. I used to know what it looked like, I only became impaired nearly 4 years ago. so I guess it is still visible after using UTEE? If I know it is, I will make the effort to do so. 😬😀 crafting has become really tiring, yet worthwhile and I refuse to give up. 🤣
Those Luscious powders, tiny stars, UTEE and gold mirror cardstock capture the essence of a butterfly. So beautiful! And your choice of the mixed font sentiment perfectly completes the design!
UTEE seems to have fallen out of favor recently but I love using it for things like this. I tend to do small flowers. I think it makes them come out so lovely. The butterflies turned out so stunning. Grandmas are truly a gift. Mine had an enameled jewelry set (earrings, necklace, bracelet) of hearts with a scene of Lake Tahoe that I still possess. Unfortunately, the earrings aren't for pierced ears and they hurt my ears or I'd wear them. It seems that with a little build up those butterflies of yours could be made into pins. BTW - I love Nuvo confettis and I also wait for bundles usually.
I add magnets to the backs of elements like butterflies. I then attach them to my card fronts with another magnet - either hidden under the card front or attached to an acetate disk so they can spin on a channel. They can then be detached and used as a magnet for the fridge or if I create a spinner card, the acetate disk can also be removed and they act as a kind of brooch. It's not very strong but could certainly allow them to be attached to a sheer curtain for example. I can point you to a blog posting of mine which has a picture tutorial if you're interested!
This is really adorable! I just made a couple myself, using some pages from one of my old Bibles. I was wondering if the shine of the.UTEE does not take away the effect of the perfect pearls? For now I have sprayed mine with hairspray.
