As I stay in a city with no Hockey Stores I have had to get a lot of stuff online and I have been following guides online for sizing and taking a risk on some equipment, I'm not trying to boast but here's what I could find online.
    Reebok Pads - £36
    Reebok Chest - £31
Bauer Catcher and Blocker - £10.50 (for both)
    CCM Ribcor Skates - £20
All above needed some real TLC and elbow grease but came up looking great.
I didnt want to buy BRAND new as I'm still learning and I might be garbage in net so didn't want to break the bank to find out I cant catch a cold.

Love that my pads got added and that you like the colors even if they are Pittsburgh yellow.

They grey and touch of yellow really make the set stand out! Thanks for your patience! I know you sent that pic a while ago!

My first pair of skates was Bauer Vapor 1x Pro 8D. Worse them once and they killed my feet. Couldn’t return them because I sharpened them and wore them once. I overnighted a pair of Vapor 1x Pro 8EE, and they hurt my feet too. I didn’t sharpen them so I could return them. Talked to the salesmen and he convinced me to get the Supreme 3S Pros 8EE. Those were manageable and have gotten better with time. Since then I have purchased CCM AS3 Pros in a 8.5EE that didn’t work out and had to use the 90 day guarantee which took about a month to get resolved and now have a pair of 7.5EE AS3 Pros and not 100% sure about them and might return them unsharpened. It’s been “fun”. Makes me want to open my own skate shop here locally because our rink’s pro shop is horrible.

Have you thought about getting custom true skates? They are a bit pricey but are custom to your foot. They are a lifesaver for my weird foot. They do cost a fortune tho.

@@rrryn I’d love too. But my nearest True dealer is several hundred miles away.

@@OldFogeyGoalie so you might be in my shoes. I also upgraded to 2x ee from my old 11k e skates and it didn't work. I went custom because I had too, none of the new ccm skates fitted either. Went custom ccm as3 and very happy. I think it's your only choice.

@@mycrease8936 I’m making plans this summer to go to the Hockey Monkey headquarters in Dallas this summer to get fitted for custom pads. I may look into custom skates too. Unfortunately, it requires either a several hour drive or a flight somewhere to get custom anything.

I feel your pain. I have wide feet and I live in Honolulu. The one rink we have has a lame pro shop. They have 6 stick choices and only 2 of them are goalie sticks.
After several tries to find a good fit buying online I'm in an older pair of CCM tacks 10.5 EE. The fit is ok enough but I still have major hotspots in my insteps. Custom True sounds like the way to go but with the closest hockey store 2500 miles away that probably won't happen anytime soon.
Then there's the mask. My head is ridiculously large, size 8 hat. My helmet/birdcage combo is on it's last legs and I want a proper mask. Gonna buy an Otny XL1 and cross my fingers. If that doesn't work I'll try the Sportmask X8 in XL. If that doesn't work I'll need a second job to pay for a custom mask. Not sure my rec league level of play is worthy of custom mask and skates?!?

Just got a small pro warrior C/A unit and it's almost to big, once it breaks in it may settle but I'm loving it. I have warrior pants but do not tuck my C/A but may lace the front down to get my neck movement back. If I had known it was so tall on me in the shoulders maybe would have gone with non pro model and just beefed up the rib protection.

#TT Do you think you still would want to do an all goalie skate in the future ? You mentioned it in the past and if so I would totally fly across the country to do this Wayne 🤘

The best tip (sarcasm) is to lowball the seller on SidelineSwap or eBay using a sob story. The latest story used on me was a gal told me she needed a set of gloves for her son. Back story with the gear, I refurbished the gloves by washing them, fixing broken internal parts, new lacing, new skate lace pocket. I knew I couldn’t ask a lot for them once I put them back together so I set the price fairly low but still gave me a little coin for my pocket. I fell for the story and sold the gloves for 50 less than what I had originally asked. I receive a message asking about a 3-4mm cut in part of the catcher. She said the gloves need to last two years and that they felt stiff. I asked her what her expectations were with used gloves and she said her son wasn’t sure if he would liked them. Sadly at this point I had to become rude and tell her I wasn’t going to accept a return and that she needed to lower her expectations concerning used equipment.

Luckily, I’m in an area where there’s a bunch of goalies who will let you try their pads for fit. Great group of guys.

Safest way is to go to the store to try it on before ordering it.
