Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- In this episode of the audionerds podcast the guys talk about music tech events and the bass or 808 being replaced. Are we seeing more hip hop music using just the 808 instead of the kick? Are we noticing a decline in our music tech events? Do people want to see more audio tech events? Does the song going bad sound better without the kick? Lets find out.

Three goats in da spot like we running a FARM 💯🔥🔥
Thank you for the funny sponsor. It was a good left-field. Also, great dancing Devvon😂
Lmao imma post the outtakes lol
"And stuff like that..." I declare Devvon says that 50 times per interview. LOL
Subcraft procured! Love the new sponsor announcement!
The Sony MDR M1’s are actually really nice. Closed back, with a really flat frequency response and nice soundstage, plus super light. Only thing is that the bass may not seem as up front, but the headphone feels natural and I feel like I can listen on them for hours. Translates really nicely so far.
Courtney Been stepping out lately I live to see it 🔊🔊🔊🔊
Yall got me sayin 'Im Not Gone Lie"..i been locked in for 2 months. but im not gone lie my audio "intelligence" has been heightened
I look forward to this show every week!! I guess I’m an audio nerd!! lol 😂
These longer episodes are essential
In Devons tutorials the lines that I hear a lot is “ long story short “ and “ stay with me “ lol
“Stay with me” is a staple.
“I say all that to say”
The way they popped up from the back was awesome🤣
Dev “ I ain’t gone hold you “
btw, 3/4 and 6/8 in music are felt differently, but it's genre specific
think it depends on the tempo also
Facts, Especially when looking at sheet music. I got cooked so many times by my professors saying its the same.
Devon "Just one second" when he's doin live reviews on Tuesdays!
SUBCRAFT!! Love the intro
Devvon McLeod - “And That’s It”
Everyone “THATS OD”
"Say less..."
“And remember clean your room please” 😂😂😂
He would say that while I’m cleaning my room too 😂😂
Great show guys!! Love it!! Keep it coming!!
I agree with Dev I need a kick with the 808. Most times when I hear a track with just an 808 it feels like its incomplete cuz there aint no kick.
I like that kick hitttin, hitttttttin like w motherfucker
Adding Big Motion on the chords vibe 🔥🔥🔥
I been saying this. We can't let them phase out the kicks!! Everyone uses these transient driven 808s, but cmon yall, the kick is the heartbeat of the song. We cant lose the kicks! You got Jack Harlow out here in interviews, saying how much he HATES kicks... 🤯🤦♂️😢😢😢
I think 21 savage said the same thing
The way Dev says bro “Ba Ro” when he rediscovers a plug in that he hasn’t used in for a long time 😂
Also the “shout out” anything is always hilarious 😂
I need that FL Studio Iced out chain 😂
BEST DEVVON PHRASE - "CAN I BE HONEST WITCHU MAN" 🤣🤣
"Say LESS!" LOL! Got you dude....
"THAT'S OD" is def one lmao
Wha gwan we deh ya... gwan bigup yuh self yute
Kourtney be like "whatchamacallit"
The snare typically hits on the 2 or 3 in 3/4. The snare hits on the 4 in 6/8.
So Courtney called Studio One lil 12 probably because Studio One 7 got that new weak launcher that we never asked for & probably wont never use but due to everything else in the new update especially the Splice integration, yall gotta know Studio One is DAM SURE the best DAW right now.
I’m finna comment everyday grinding for the Rosetta compressor
Yall always say "I'm not gon' lie!" Always
L Jean… “shout out to God” is the ULTIMATE conversation ender. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m using that!!!!!!!
Need a shirt with DEV quote: PROTOOLS ONLY 30 dollars
Dem bois letting Courtney shine my dawg really the Beyoncé of the group #noticeing

Yall met the Legend himself???? GEORGE MFN T MUSIC!!!!!! 🐐🐐🐐
LOl awesome new intro!
Yall gon stop disrespecting Studio One like this. 😂 it’s literally the best DAW ever made and we only in 7. S1 Mob!
Only thing mp3 is good for is for emailing ideas back and fourth to artist for playback (but that’s getting killed by OffTop and a few other companies) however. For me. Emailing quickly from my Mac is super easy. Most my wav projects don’t fit in an email. So they never receive the file.
Only reason I think having mp3 files is still important. But not necessarily at all
Same here
That Glorilla "TGIF" song is another bop out rn with no hi hats
“And things of that nature..”😆…
I'm a big UJAM fan, and am heavily considering Subcraft after using SublabXL and Akai's SubFactory (Which I can use on an MPC and as a VST plugin).
Oh we going crazy this week! 😳
“My fault og” 🤣
WE SHOULD BRING BACK THE HDMI CORD ON THE POD!!!
Yoh a Courtney episode?🔥😁😁
LJ u my dawg but I gotta tell u 3/4 time is different from 6/8. Mostly, because of the feel/swing being much slower. 3/4 has a drift like Weeknd's Earned It vs. Future's March Madness, which is a 6/8 (because of the triplet style melody and vocals) but still has the feel of a 4/4 record. I've used 3/4 in trap beats and have had people be unable to catch the count because they were not used to hearing it (until drums played and/or i began to rap indicating the emphasis on what beats to count from). 6/8 on the other hand is much easier.
Not sure when y’all filmed this … but the Hurricanes been raising the hotel prices
"Yeah" def had a hi hat lol
LJ: One got go....
hey i never heard Courtney music . where is link
Hey fellas. I got a random question. How often and for how long do you normally give your ears a break between sessions? If you notice your ears getting tired and you know you need a break. I normally take a day or two off. What's the suggested time to take breaks from loud sessions?
Court Court! Leave that man Courtney speak!
"And things of that nature!"
I aint' gone hold u.
Studio one gang
Courtney grows stronger by the episode
Nic Nac made "Loyal" by Chris Brown if that's the song you are talking about.
Ooh thats OD
I can't like lie man this plugin is fire
Right Right, Ohh Woooaw !!! I see Damnnn
That thing bro ? Game changer I prommess
Yooooooooo ...... You forreal ?
STOP IT!!! 3/4 is not the same as 6/8 rhythmically. The snare clearly goes on the 4th beat of 6/8. Which beat does it snare go on 3/4 . . . . . .??? I Dare you to say the One. lol. Great episode. Keep it up.
... and stuff like that... as far as ...
“and brooo 👀”-dev
Got an ad talking bout the illuminati....confirmed
Two episodes in a week 👀
MEMBERS!!
You be helping… make … the clips. 😂😂😂
Why is this so accurate? I was just replacing the kick with the 808 LOL
Not exactly, 3/4 is not the same as 6/8. Meter in music does not always translate in the same way as math. Music has a completely different set of rules. Hey, My Audio Nerds! I enjoy your podcast and appreciate everything you’re doing for the community and industry.
Here’s why 3/4 and 6/8 meters are not the same between music and mathematics:
As previously mentioned, music does math with its own set of rules. In music we’re talking about meter, rhythm, and feel. In 3/4, one measure/bar is divided into 3 quarter notes (3/4). Rhythmically, we have the kick on the 1 and the snare on 2 and 3 giving 3/4 the feel of a Waltz presented in songs such as “Voices of Spring Waltz” by Johann Strauss II or “Tennessee Waltz” by Les Paul.
On the other hand, in 6/8, one measure/bar is divided into 6 eighth notes (6/8). Rhythmically, the kick is on the first eighth note and the snare is on the 4th eighth note. It feels like a half-time 4/4. Examples of 6/8 would be “If Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, “End Of The Road” by Boyz II Men, and “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.
What's more, there’s also 9/8 that can feel like both 3/4 and 6/8. This meter is most common in Gospel music exemplified in songs like “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power” by Andraé Crouch. 9/8 is broken down into nine eighth notes with the kick on the one and snare sounding on beats 4 and 7. In meter, the top number is the number of notes in a measure/bar and the bottom number is the subdivision of the top note.
So, remember that subdividing beats/notes can trick us into thinking that dividing music meter is the same-it's just doing math. However, music (meter, rhythm, feel, and dynamics) focuses more on time-feel and emotion, therefore, forcing us to deal with the math elements of music much differently than basic arithmetic. I hope this elucidates the difference between meters 3/4 and 6/8.
Thanks for taking the time to hear me out!

jus convinced me to only ever export wav. idk why i thought i needed an mp3 export too 😂
Shout out Jrose!! There is a difference between 3/4 and 6/8
With The Way 808's Get Misused Or Are Simply Repetitive Nowadays, A Nasty Bass Line With A Solid Kick Is Irreplaceable!
I'm still confused. So what format is everyone bouncing down a reference at the end of a client's recording session? Ya'll wetransfering wav's?
"Modern" 808's are exhausting to the ear. How about just make a good song.
Facts
They never talk about studio one!
Devon we seen u eating up the snacks at the Studio one 7 event bro, then u wanna give us that lil slight mention, yall better stop playing like we aint the best DAW out right now. Ask DJ Jazzy Jeff 💪💪💪🤣🤣🤣
I'd love to work with y'all guys. Have y'all ever thought about reviewing people's music on your show
My girl (math teacher): how they saying “it’s simple math and they got it wrong
Me: Wym?

25:17 😂😂😂 I'm producing in 36/48 from now on
Court!!!!
"I will say this..."
I’ll always stay using a kick
When is SOUND CHECK next episode????
Sweatshirts is 🔥
I honestly don't see a point of mp3. we have the technology and power to send and save wav files. its not like 20 years ago where you needed to save space bc your harddrive was only 1gb. I get mad seeing producers sell mp3s and upcharge for the wav file.
Where is the convo for Studio One 7?
🗣"We're not bad people. We just treat eachother bad." /DECAP/ 9th Wonder / Mitch! / It's the FL god/ The God Particle/ It's 12 / Can I get this off? I have a UAD interface and the high end is plastic and crackly
Similar to blowing into a paper bag.
yeah definitely has hihats lol =)
90% of 808 samples have a "kick" (transient) in them already nowadays
Alight the main difference in the type of music that's popular now. If you need 2 measures to finish the phrase... It's 6/8, you'll have to add a lot of ties or slurs to your notation if your song otherwise. If you can finish the phrase in one 3 count measure then it's 3/4. Period
what are you guys bouncing too?
