    Wow! Double Wow! These are perfect! I wanted to make some fresh bread to go with the soup simmering on the stove. I enjoy watching your videos. Your voice is clear and calming. Your videos are made well and feature exactly what I need to see in a helpful way. I'd saved this video months ago and decided to try it today. I only had active dry yeast, and so I was glad there were comments informing me how to substitute it for the quick rising yeast. I had butter sitting out ready to slather on one soon after taking them out of the oven. I'm looking forward to a fried egg sandwich in the morning. Thanks again for this awesome video!

    I make bread with spelt flour, just wondering if you have used spelt and what technique you apply if you have. I would like to learn more about using ancient grains. love your videos!

    Those rolls look great. I have a recipe, but want to try yours. Does the cast iron take a while to heat up? I use a metal roasting pan for my buns. New subscriber here, love your videos, and you lay out the recipe here or at your website. Great job!

      Thanks, I'm glad you like the videos! The cast iron does take a little while to heat up, but it's definitely plenty hot by the end of cooking.

    I’m having a hard time finding instant yeast these days. I have active dry yeast though. Is it possible to use that? If so would the amount be different? Thanks.

    • @TheRegularChef
      @TheRegularChef  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, you can definitely use that. Typically when converting to active dry yeast, you'll want to use 1.25x the amount that you'd use if you were using instant yeast. You'll also need to soak the yeast in water (preferably with a few pinches of sugar as well) for at least 10-15 minutes, or until you see some foam, to allow the yeast to activate.

      Thanks very much! That’s a simple conversion. So it would be 12.5 g of dry yeast. Would it make sense to add it to the water (heated) and honey and let it bloom there before continuing?

    • @TheRegularChef
      @TheRegularChef  4 роки тому +2

      Yes exactly, and yeah that would be a good idea! I couldn’t remember off the top of my head whether there was sugar or honey in the recipe.

    I tried this and my rolls came out dense and with no browning. Idk where I went wrong

    • @TheRegularChef
      @TheRegularChef  4 роки тому

      Hmm, well to make them less dense, they probably just needed to rise longer. For the browning, did you top them with melted butter before baking?

      The Regular Chef I have feeling my yeast might’ve been dead. How important is yeast to make this, because I let it rise for more than 2 hours before baking? Btw I did not add butter thx

    In the video you say 1/4 cup butter, but in the instructions you say 1/2 cup butter... which one is correct?

    • @TheRegularChef
      @TheRegularChef  4 роки тому +5

      Well it's 1/2 cup total, so 1/4 cup goes into the dough and 1/4 cup gets brushed on top before and after baking. Thanks though, I'll edit the description to make that more clear.
