    Victory / Legend Tournament 7’3 MH has been the dream spinnerbait rod for me. 1/4-5/8 with trailers, up to 7/8oz without trailer. The slower tips that Croix usually makes fit these moving baits perfectly. The 7’1 and 7’5 lengths are basically the same too

    I have a older levante spinnerbait special. What are your thoughts on the rod? I like the action, it just feels a little short at times since my casts on spinnerbaits tend to be longer as bass seem to follow them a long way and attack too

    Been using a 6ft pistol grip ugly stik for about 48 years.I have an Abu reel with a 6:1 ratio....use 17lb trilene xt green mono.I pour and tie my own spinnerbaits from 1/8 to 11/2 versions.I have tried longer rods with mh actions,but that medium ugly stik keeps them pinned better than any I've tried.I wish that Shakespeare still made them.

    Love your content guys. I live in North Carolina and fish primarily brackish /saltwater. Throwing topwater, mirrolure and a lot of half ounce to one ounce spoons . Spinning rod wise daiwa ags or nrx plus. And pair it with 3,000 spinning reel exist or Stella. I wanna pull the trigger and can’t make a choice 😂

      @thehookuptackle_usa  2 роки тому +1

      You cant lose no matter what you choose! If you need your reel to be super strong - get the Stella. If you want it to have butter smooth drag for light line - get the Exist. On the rod, Either way is solid, but Steez doesn't really have a heavy rod for those weights, so I guess I'm going NRX 3 power.

  • @christinesaukam714

    I have literally a dozen or more preferred spinnerbait rods since the 1999s, with the GLoomis 3-4 power MBR IMX-GLX as a good standard for most 3/8-3/4 oz spinnerbaits.
    Today, my favorite with copoly/mono/fluoro 1/2-3/4 is a Megabass LWL Super Diablo II, if the bait is 3/4-1.25 and with a bigger trailer, I like the Evergreen TKIC Super Stallion...drop down to 1/4-3/8 and I really like a medium power mod/fast in a shorter length, like the Legit Design Wild Side 6'10" Med.
    Then there are long range spinnerbait rods, specifically with 3/4-1.25+ baits + trailer...long casts also benefit with braid + leader for distance, better hooksets, and sensitivity on a line line. I like powerful crankbait type blanks, and something like my custom MHX907 CB is a good option.
    For power cranking 1 oz + tailers like the Strike King Bottom Dweller on windy days and long casts with a copoly that stretches, I like a long & powerful jig/flipping type rod with a fast taper. I actually do very well with a rod like the Phenix Ultra MBX Classic 707H (Gen I and Gen III).
    A good value everyday rod for 3/8-3/4 would be a rod akin to the Daiwa Rebellion 7'3" MH...
    It's endless man.

    That is such a valuable perspective about how spinnerbait and chatterbaits require different actions due to the inherent nature of how each lure is designed. I already knew the fundamentals of this and I already use 2 different rods for the spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, but I didn't know why or how to explain the reasoning until now. Great information!

    I only throw my own designed spinnerbaits in 1/4 or 1/2 ounce baits with 15lb braid and mono leaders...regards B.J.sCustom Baits Australia..

    Ben, how come almost all spinner baits that I’ve tried, end up being heavier than what is listed on the package? I’ve put many different brands on my scales and they always end up being a 1/4oz to 3/8oz heavier than the stated weight. For example those Megabass SV-3 Spinnerbaits in 1/2oz size, actually weight a little over 3/4oz… then when you add your trailer most 1/2oz spinner baits end up being over 1oz in weight. For that reason I usually swap between two rods. I like the GLoomis Conquest 843MBR MH Fast action for 3/8oz spinners with a trailer or 1/2oz without a trailer, and then I use the Shimano Poison Adrena 7’-4” Hvy, Reg Fast rod for the 1/2oz with trailer on up to 1oz+ spinners.

    The Megabass SV-3 is a fabulous design. However, The quality of the bait itself is in line with the cheapest spinnerbait available at Walmart. I've been fishing them for the last 18 months and so far I have (8) SV-3 spinnerbaits that have lost their outside blades. I've never had this happen to ANY other spinner bait. Megabass needs to fix their quality issues.

      Tie/wrap some braid around the loop that holds the blade until it fills the gap, and seal with a dab of super glue. Unfortunately lots of spinnerbaits have this issue with the rear blade working loose and coming off on the arm due to the slightly open wire loop that holds the split ring/BB swivel/blade.
