@@Pius-XI It's a impoverished ghetto mess, it has one of the highest murder rates of any city in America, it's just as bad as Detroit, cities like Phoenix, Dallas, and Seattle make St Louis look like a war torn 3rd world country.

St. Louis is a wonderful city! It's a shame this wasn't recorded in the spring of 2020. So much is changing! Today for example marks the opening of The St. Louis Wheel, a 200 foot observation wheel at Union Station! Opening with the wheel are also a carousel, mini golf, and an old time soda fountain/restaurant! By the end of this year, there will also be an aquarium at Union Station as well! Spring of 2020 will also mark the opening of City Foundry, a shopping and entertainment district in our ever growing central corridor! $8 billion+ is being invested in to construction projects in St. Louis, putting the city through a renaissance we have never seen before. This city is definitely worth a visit, or maybe a permanent move too, as we are city attracting young professionals from all around the country for our low cost of living, amazing (and mostly free) amenities and our growing tech scene.
Don't forget our Botanical Garden. One of the best in the country. And see our new Aquarium, Giant Wheel, and soon we'll have a world class soccer stadium. Exciting times.
I didn't see anything about the St. Louis Cardinals, the baseball or sports history that St. Louis possesses, nor did I see anything about the city museum, the Bowling HoF, or Six Flags. There's a ton more to see and do in St. Louis than this video shows.
I am not going to lie St. Louis is my favorite city so much to do there SOOOOOO under rated just went and St. Louis is not just the arch its SOOOOOOOO much more and totally recommend the botanical gardens.
St. Louis native here; yeah, I definitely recommend going. (If you have enough time; definitely call an Uber to visit Historic Downtown Florissant; it’s a local gem that very few outside St.Louis know about.)
It's a great city. I've been there several times. They weren't mentioned in this video but some places in the city that I like are: The City Museum, Union Station, Laclede's Landing, and, of course, Busch Stadium for the baseball enthusiast. 😊
You should, all Americans should! Go to the Arch at least, though it is extremely claustrophobic on the way up. One thing I was shocked by is that there's literally nothing on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. Usually with river cities, let alone the ultimate one, you'd expect both sides to be settled and lined with settlement, but the eastern bank of the river is literally just weeds and train tracks. I bet one day if Illinois gets off its feet again that side will be developed. STL itself was actually much more run down than I expected it would be, at least downtown and in the infrastructure. I never got to see a lot of the outlying things in this video like that amazing park, but I did get to see the core of the downtown.
@@smill1985 don't forget the Dred Scott Courthouse, which oddly is shown in the video from the inside but not actually explained. In their Memphis video like 1/3 of the video was dedicated to the Civil Rights sites, so I was surprised this courthouse so prominently-displayed wasn't touched on. It's a neat little museum, very Midwestern in its style. You'd think it would be a state capitol or something but nope.
Of course I find out I had roots in St. Louis, Missouri AFTER going there. Before I moved out of the Midwest, I knew I had to get there and cross the Mississippi. I did, but probably didn't get to give this place justice since we only spent the day there. I got to go in the Arch, go to an iconic STL BBQ joint, see the Dread Scott Courthouse, and even go to a local ice cream joint and The Hill. If you're coming from Illinois like I did, go to the Cahokia Mounds first, you'll see St. Louis in all its grandeur from atop the highest mound in North America and you'll never forget that sight! Plus you learn all sorts of cool Native American history. But the mounds are a must, it's the perfect way to illuminate the grandeur of the Gateway to the West! I'll definitely be able to take it in more next time, especially now that I love blues!

But thanks to food and travel shows I now see there's a lot of stuff worth visiting in places like St Louis. The 19th Century architecture by the riverfront looks gorgeous.
St. Louis is a great place to live, despite all the bad press it gets. Not mentioned here is that the cost of living is comparatively very low, it has four distinct seasons, and is centrally located in the country.
