    Could you please share what automation you’ve done to show the camera view when it detects presence for the doorbell? (Minute 7:31)
    Thanks!

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  12 годин тому +1

      Sure, in the Aqara app set up your automation like so;
      in IF, select the G4 and select the option 'motion detected'.
      In THEN, select the Panel Hub S1 Plus, and select 'Enable video casting' then select the G4 from the subsequent list. This also works with cameras, and the IF section can also include additional parameters, like 'the doorbell is pressed'.

    Is it able to control devices which are part of my HomeKit/Matter installation? So non-Aqara devices?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  10 годин тому

      You can control non-Aqara devices via HomeKit (or other platform) with the use of the six wireless buttons. You might also be able to control third-party matter devices if they’re connected to an M3 hub, as long as the hub and the panel are on the same Aqara account.

      @ okay but the other way around would be more important: if i have already light switches, windows shutters and stuff like that, which are part of my HomeKit installation: can i show control panels for theses devices on the display?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  10 годин тому +2

      No, only Aqara devices, and Matter devices connected to the M3 will be able to show up on the panel.

    • @antonburdin9756
      @antonburdin9756 3 години тому +3

      Unfortunately, this is not a matter controller (only Aqara hub M3 was promised such capabilities). Matter bridge could only expose some of non matter devices to matter fabrics. To control other matter devices you need matter controller capabilities which are not offered here. Instead Aqara is offering a work around with virtual switches (you can assign various automations and scenes).

    Thanks for the detailed review. Another downside of the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus is that you can’t choose which side to install the back box on. If there is a door frame to the left of the light switch, it can’t be installed.

  • @RafaelSwit
    @RafaelSwit 5 годин тому

    I’ve recently added a few non-matter temp/humidity sensors to a matter enabled bridge (Switchbot), which in turn should allow me to see these sensors in Home app. Unfortunately this resulted in all sensors reporting their readings in Home app as a single device in the room where the bridge/hub is located. This has made those sensors unusable through Home app, and has forced me to use the app native to the hub. Do you find similar behavior with Aqara hubs and sensors?

    Hi Simon, really nice interface on the hub. It does look like a new stand alone eco system that would add significant time and effort to set up and maintain. Also, would it be possible to activate Apple Home scenes?
    Maybe? I do have several wireless Aqara switches that control scenes in Apple Home so if those switches can be controlled via this hub then it would indeed be able to set scenes in Apple Home.
    Great review!

    I saw this, and/or something akin, from those at CES. As a screen for a replacement of light switches, these seem like an area waiting to be flooded with options. It would be great, albeit difficult, to make the screens flush with the wall (clearly, this is not a ding for Aqara). Can the audio be used to act as an intercom as well?
