Lost my 524 manual. So glad I found your video. I bought my machine in 1982 so this is an old model. I leaned so much new info from watching you. Thanks.

I’ve had my Superlock since 1987 and I’ve just got it out of the closet to start using again. This video helped me get familiar with the machine again. Thanks for posting it.

They deserve all the awards for this series! I've been gifted a frister rossman lock 3 and couldn't find any information anywhere. It's this machine only with 3 threads. How amazing to have a clear and intelligent explanation and guidance. Camera work is so crisp too. I hope 2021 is treating them well.

You guys are great!!! I recently got a White Super Lock 534 (long story) and did not know how to use it. I signed up for a 3 hour class at JoAnn Fabric on sergers for beginners. The main thrust of the class was how to thread the machine. By the time I left the class (there were only two of us in the class), I was somewhat frustrated. The instructor told me that it was threaded properly and needed service since the stitches were REALLY bad. They also told me the day their service guy comes in. I thought not. I came home and looked on youtube, and there you were. Oh, my gosh. I followed your instructions, and this machine works perfectly. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You explain things so I can understand, and the video shows exactly where I am supposed to be threading, etc. I also learned from you that the setting on the inside of the machine is the stitch length and not tension as the instructor today told me. I could have saved $40 if I had watched this first.

Perfect timing for me! My mom has this machine that's been sitting around for years, and she is going to give it to me, yay! I've never used a serger so this video is a great intro for me, thank you so much!

Excellent video. The best I have seen on sergers. I have a newer model but all the info shared on the older White is applicable to the newer model. Will look forward to the whole series on sergers. Thanks so much.

I can't thank you enough for this series on the White Serger 534...I purchased this machine in Jan. of 1988 & was never able to get it to work properly...Never used it at all...this past week, when cleaning out a closet, I brought it out and looked at it more seriously since my Singer serger has been giving me nothing but problems & sounds like a motorboat...I looked at all 3 videos in your series. From lack of use, my 534 was a bit sluggish at first, then roared into action. Because of your step by step walk thru of the threading, I now have a "new" serger that hums along beautifully...believe me, this machine will get a lot of use as I am an avid sewer and use my serger for sewing as I use my microwave for cooking........Thank you again for all of your help, Howard

I was looking at sergers online and came across a couple of your videos about the White SuperLock 534. I got my White SuperLock 534 probably around mid-1970's - a little older than you estimated. It is a very solid machine and I've never had any problems with it - my reason for looking at the new sergers has to do with ease of threading and newer features. I go through this exercise every 5 years or so, but then I look at the quality and durability of my machine and decide to wait.
The only problem I have is that the "hook" I have for threading the lower looper got bent and I can't straighten it to use it, and I haven't been able to find an equivalent one - the ones I've found aren't long enough. But it was great to see it profiled. It has never let me down.

I really need to know how to thread this machine. It was given to me as a gift so no instructions or tools to help guide me. I've downloaded the manual and followed the chart but no luck. I'm going to be tuned in on Friday to hopefully get this thing working so I can get working. Thank you for creating this tutorial. You make my life easier.

I picked up one of these from goodwill for $13. This video really helped me determine there was nothing missing from mine except the spool holders that I ended up replacing with generic dritz ones. One thing that always makes me sad when looking at white Sergers at thrift is how the thread "antenna" gets utterly mangled with rough handling. So many good machines lost to that :/

I just got it and was bewildered by the lower looper threader that manual is just about useless for threading the lower looper . The diagram just doesn’t show exactly where the thread guide are in there 🤨

Your videos are extremely helpful, I have a similar machine branded 'Frister and Rossman' Frister lock 4. However unlike the one you show, it has a choice of stitches and the normal 'serging' /overclocking stitch has two separate parts.
I wonder if you know what it is?

Hello: You mention that the HAX1SP needle is the best for this machine. Is that a good needle for spandex? or what would you suggest for spandex and knits. Thanks for the videos on the 534..I am enjoying these. Just found this fantastic serger for 40 bucks and it's amazing quality and so quiet ! Keep up the great informative videos you guys !

Your videos have helped me thread and become familiar with this machine. Thank you for that. I am having an issue though, the feed dogs seem to me running in reverse. I had a few people suggest the machine may have been repaired and the wiring switched causing the motor to run in reverse. Could this be the case? I'm at a loss as to what to do next and think having it serviced would cost close to buying a new machine.

I just got one from craigslist as is and have the same issue. I took the bottom off and removed the black rectangular plate (onlt has 2 screws). There are two nylon gears in there and a bunch of yellow goop (i think it is supposed to be there). One of the nylon gears is cracked. I would replace it myself but you have to remove a lot to parts to replace it and then you have to fix the timing. I would guess you might be seeing the same. I am going to be looking for a pro to repair it.

Thanks so much for this video! I recently found a White Superlock 534D serger at GoodWill for $50. It was almost 2 weeks before i dared to plug it in, i was scared to do so because i couldn't believe it didn't have a seized motor or something. I bought it because it was super clean looking and was still in its original box. Its just me being phobic and i've had too many run-ins with Murphy's Law. I plugged it in this morning and the motor sounds smooth. I'll be watching the next video then go over it and clean it up and check if anything is missing. One question though, does the "D" in the 534 denote that it is a differential? Or are there A, B and C series models before it?
