My high school crush was an amazing volleyball player and I remember admiring her a lot (we would play volleyball together even though I was eons behind her skill level). She made volleyball look graceful while scoring a bunch of points and to this day I will never know how.
I also had a crush on a girl that played volleyball, although i never had the guts to play with her (despite her inviting me once) bc i was just ashamed bc she would just OBLITERATE me. Exactly. I had a mandatory dance class in middle school (it was a cultural dance class) and the first thing my teacher told us was to bring towels and water because we were definitely gonna sweat a lot by the end of it. To this day I'm positive that was understatement since we were all exhausted at the end of each class, and still had to go to other classes right after.

with the whole thing about men calling women “females”, it reminded me of a book on greek gods i read. It was laughably bad too. “The creature did a mischief and blah blah blah put the babe in the fire to make it strong blah blah and threw the babe on the floor” (the story of persephone and seasons) anyways the book is laughably homophobic and misogynistic so thought i’d share that.

The most insidious part of the whole"swimsuit under shirt and shorts" thing is that, it's 4th grade. We all know it's not other children sexualising these children. It's the adults, their teachers and administrators. They don't look at a 4th grade girl in a swimming suit and think "Aw, she looks like she's ready for a fun day." It’s even worse when I remember that in fourth grade, I was acutely aware of it and refused to bend over to pick things up- I squatted down. I was 9-10. Not only that, but it’s pounded into afab/feminine presenting people from such a young for so long it’s just normal. My old church group leader was a woman, and when we went swimming, she pretty much said to cover up our shoulders and backs and not to wear anything that exposed even a little collar bone because ‘our brothers in Christ will stare.’ The whole brothers part made it worse. I wrote an essay back in high school about how back in the 1800's, many people genuinely believed that adult women had the same mental capacity as children. Even scientists of that time believed that. As I was researching for that essay, I thought to myself that it was so weird that people believed that adult women were basically children and I was glad they don't believe that anymore. “women don’t improve with use” i mean if you’re using them instead of loving them of course it’s gonna cause trauma and distress. however i know the point this guy is trying to make and it’s actually the opposite. every relationship is something that you can learn and grow from. you can learn a lot about yourself and about others. more experience makes communication clearer because people tend to know what they want/need, and first relationships usually don’t last because of it. but that doesn’t by any means make it pointless. love is a process that involves yourself and self discovery happens through experience
Well, this guy was obviously insecure about himself, which is why he needed an inexperienced woman who he could control and dominate. *That's* why he thinks experienced women are broken.
It's sad cus there are guys out there who have trauma too with their relationships. So they're basically kicking their own kind. Also Hades from Lore Olympus is a guy who has trauma learnt from his experience and treats people who love him with respect as he wasn't with his past relationship. There are other fiction and nonfiction examples of men going through trauma and becoming better, broken but not useless after it. Same goes for girls. Trauma is Trauma. As someone who crochets. the one about someone giving back a blanket just because it was rainbow and it was made from someone who was new to crocheting made me upset. They put all there work and time to make a big, colorful blanket and gave it to someone just for them to give it back because of its colors. I have made a quite a few crocheted things and I still have trouble with making things multi colored when it's all one piece. So I feel bad for that person.
My dad knew someone who took his wife’s last name because she was the last one in her family with it. They told the groom’s dad at the rehearsal, the dad was so upset about his son taking the wife’s name HE REFUSED TO GO TO HIS OWN SON’S WEDDING!
That dad is ridiculous. In related news, I've tossed out that idea a few times to my bf (he's got a sibling and I'm the last one with my name). He wants to keep his name, but I have secured the last name in hyphenation for any future spawn.
I will definitely be taking my girlfriend's last name. I _want_ this name to die out. It's the last remnant of my abusive prick of a father's influence over me and I'll be happy to see it gone. Granted, it's a bit less powerful a message when you consider I'm a lesbian, but also considering that he never accepted me as trans, he still sees me as his son, so I guess it cancels out.
On the "_Females_" thing: I have noticed that increasingly in fiction novels the characters will be divided into males and females, with all the dumbass masculine gender roles applying to males and feminine gender roles for females. "Man" and "woman" is barely used anymore and of course enbys are completely forgotten. At first I kinda breezed past it, since it doesn't have much bearing on the story. But appearently many authors don't want to use man and woman anymore because the "trans agenda" took those words from them and now they don't feel comfortable writing "His rippling muscles had every girl drooling" (which is already pretty heteronormative) because "girls" could include males and they don't want that??? Ppl are going all out on sexism and transphobia and have the audacity to cast themselves as the victims.
One of my favorite insults to describe a complete idiot (i.e. incels, alpha males, homophobes, etc) is _you must be one of those guys who refers to women as females_ for one, the insult usually flies over their head, but two, when they get it, they get offended for being called out for why they are big idiots, as it is the way they behave and talk that makes them miserable and unlikable yet they don't want to admit that they are the problem, they're the ones that need to change.

That "no child should receive a plate before the man of the house" one got me. My dad has always held pretty traditional gender roles for my family, but my dad does most of the cooking. Because he loves it. And I cannot think of a night where if more than one person was eating he ever made his plate first. He usually told us that dinner was ready and had everyone else get their food while he went outside. He never eats first. He always makes sure that his wife and kids have enough before he takes any.
My dad cooks most things together and then if it has a bunch of choices he lays out the plates so we can choose what we want, so at the very least everyone gets their food at the same time
Dancing is fun, and I think most people should try it. Dancing and Yoga are how I got enough PE credits to graduate from high school. They have a sense of purpose to them that most of PE didn't. Dancing also helped me to meet more girls, and have normal conversations with them, which was a really good thing to return to after puberty.
As a dancer, we absolutely get super sweaty and dirty, so saying that dance is somehow different from all other sports is BS. Dance is competitive, emotionally exhausting, physically taxing, AND you are supposed to look “pretty” or “handsome” doing it.
I do a little tap. My teacher at the time and I actually joked about this a lot while working on that one Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell jukebox dance number. In the original video, Eleanor is like "Simple!" And we're just sitting there dying and out of breath watching that bit back like "..."
As a dancer as well as former cross country athlete, I would even go so far as to say that dance is more difficult than any other sport, maybe with the exception of parkour.
Not to mention bruised and sometimes bloody depending on the dance form! (ballet and lyrical/contemporary dancer over here, pointe shoes and any dances that involve rolls/jumps/deliberate falls to the floor can be *brutal*, hoo boy)
As another dancer, thank you for making the comment that I was too lazy to type out. The whole reason that people sometimes think dance is easy is because a dancer's whole job is usually to make it seem fluid and effortless. Professionals are professionals for a reason.
I always want to show people who think dancing isn't sweaty the movie "Staying Alive" (the sequel to Saturday Night Fever, directed by Sylvester Stallone!). It's got athletic men and women dancing and being sweaty for like an hour and a half. With lots of 80's music (it was made in the 80's).

It might be because the fact the blanket is rainbow and it could have to do with rainbow babies. Which is a term used to refer to a child born to a family that previously lost a child due to stillbirth. That or homophobia.

On the subject of that "Man of the house gets food before the kids." My dad was a great example of how selfish that is, by doing the opposite. My dad cooked, he always gave my mother and I portions first before he took any for himself. He was also the one in charge of handling the finances, and the way he prioritized things was Necessities > My recreational wants > My mother's recreational wants > His recreational wants. For the last 5 years of my time in grade school, he never once spent money on himself. That's not man's job or anything, but that demonstrates how much he valued his loved ones.

@@gethinblake4826 It's in the aero/ace spectrum. That in-between of a romantic/plutonic affection and friends-with-benefits/ace. For myself I see it as a relationship anchored in emotional support and physical closeness vs romantic and carnal pursuit.
"The more heartbreaks she has, the more damaged she is. Unlike man who gain experience from heartbreaks, women get trauma" Funny cause so far I've only met women who still trust and love even after many *horrible* experiences and men who blame the girl that didn't like them back when they were 11 for having trust and commitment issues.
I'm so glad you said this. Processing trauma is so important for preventing the spread of abuse. I wish more men felt safe to work through stuff instead of looking for human binkies/punching bags.
2:39 Someone cheating on you in a dream can actually signal that you subconciously don't fully trust your partner, so maybe the girl who told her partner they "dream cheated" should maybe have a talk with her partner and discuss what they can do to build trust in eachother. “Women playing sports is a huge turn off for men.” Well, as a lesbian, If there happens to be an athletic woman, this is not an issue for me. Don’t even worry about it. You do you lmao. (Seriously athletic women are incredibly attractive.)
Athletic women are good tho and most of my male friend agree so idk who would think that like all you need is like 25 min on UA-cam to see like 6 videos of men thirsting over them
Crocheter here, that blanket would have taken so much time to complete with the intricate eyelets and designs. Probably a lot of frogging (undoing crochet) in mistakes, which takes even more time. And since this was a GIFT, there was love put into it which only creators (writers, artists, designers, crafters...etc...) can understand. My heart hurts for that crocheter who put in so much love for that kid and it just got dumped on by that woman.
Me too, literally so annoyed, I wish I could find the person who made the blanket and tell them how beautiful it is, and possibly Jen..... And tell her what an ungrateful pillock she is 👀
It might be because the fact the blanket is rainbow and it could have to do with rainbow babies. Which is a term used to refer to a child born to a family that previously lost a child due to stillbirth. That or homophobia. Tho the person did was not cool.
I'm impressed by the texture pattern and the corner-to-corner color pattern. If the recipient didn't like the blanket, she should have graciously accepted the blanket and quietly passed it to someone else. She should be banned from receiving homemade gifts from now on.
RE: "female". IMO, when referring to people, female is ok as an adjective but not as a noun. "Female astronauts" serves to specify a subcategory of astronauts. "Females" as a noun meaning women is weird and no. The exception is that when you're writing from an alien perspective, using such weird word choices consistently can highlight that they don't think about things the same way we do; at least for me, it having a purpose makes it less uncomfortable.
I thought that behavior was just edgy internet stuff until I encountered in the wild. Well, not really wild it was a Walgreens and I was buying deodorant and other stuff and the cashier was called by a co-worker and told her he would be right there. He looked at me and went "Females? Right." ... I am like no, that is just a co-worker wanting help.
That's kinda how I use the word homosexuality. I'm okay with it being used in a serious talk about sexuality, but when people start talking about "the homosexuals" or something like that, it tends to get my goat.
IMO, "Males" is equally creepy, though I actually don't see it used in this same weird way. Lately, I've seen a lot of movie summaries that feel the need to say shit like, "female assassin", "male nurse", "female firefighter", "male artist"... IDK, maybe it's just me, but I think it's entirely unnecessary to designate a person's sex before their occupation only when it's "subversive". Kind of ruins the intended subversion by framing it as an anomaly - and I mean, even if it _is_ unusual, specifically pointing it out really seems to influence how people react to the character, and by extension, real-life people. Movies are proven to have a, quite frankly, _terrifying_ amount of power over people's perceptions of reality, so I would bet it's not exactly helpful or inspirational so much as awkward and othering. (It helps even less that in most movies like this, the character's life is depicted as a failure due to their "unbecoming" career choice/interests.)

My dad is actually someone who cares a lot about gender roles (and we get into fights about it as well) but he would always let children eat before him.
Because that's the responsible thing to do - it shows that you as a parent prioritize making sure your children have enough to eat over making sure YOU have enough to eat.
@@scapegoatmiller9110 Everyone on my dad's side of the family thinks the exact same way. When I was younger, I would steal his leftovers all the time. He got mad and scolded me, of course, but he never punished me for stealing his food.
All of these younger “traditional” men just want to have all of the benefits of a patriarchal society, without taking any of the responsibilities. They’re just entitled and narcissistic. Those days sucked for everyone, women weren’t allowed to do shit, kids were expected to be seen and not heard, and men were worked to death while disallowed to express any emotion but rage. It’s depressing that some people just see a rainbow and be like: “LGBTQ+, pride, etc.” in a bad way because 1 it’s being disrespectful for what others want to do and 2 Rainbows are not just a symbol of that. Rainbows come after the storm, just like they can symbolically after a hard time ^^

"Are the straights OK?" Me being straight: Seeing as my plans for the next year depend on my acceptance into college or becoming one with the pavement, no. Not in the slightest.
It sounds like you need a better plan B. Perhaps something in construction- you could be an ironworker, and put down rebar for concrete. Or you could learn to weld- the only reason I'm trying to become a programmer instead of a TIG welder is that I want to wear frilly dresses. The precision of TIG welding makes it almost as engaging as a good SHMUP is for me, and it's beautiful to look at. If you're wearing a welding mask, that is.
Hey, you got this. I just wanna say that no matter what happens, it's gonna be okay. I'm not sure where you live, but there are plenty of college pathways. You don't necessarily have to do college college, just starting in an entry level position or doing some type of relevant course is enough to get started, then you can apply for college college later and use your experience towards learning credits.
“Females deteriorate” Here’s a very interesting fact: once a woman has been pregnant, cells from the baby will be present in the mother’s bloodstream. It is believed that these cells can prolong a woman’s life. I wanted to share because it’s very interesting.

re: "woman" vs "female": "woman" is a noun, and "female" is an adjective. for example: *that woman is a pilot* can also be written as *she is a female pilot*. "female" is almost always used as a noun when referring to animals - "the female leaves the den to go hunt", etc. I think incels started referring to women as females in order to 1) pretend that they're smart/smart enough to "study the female specimen", and 2) degrade women to be viewed as creatures/inhuman edit: I've clarified more extensively in replies to this comment, but for those who don't feel like searching, I'll say this: I primarily meant this in a layman/everyday communication context. I know that female is used as a noun, but it is almost always used specifically when talking about science/biology/the difference between gender and sex. basically, when talking about a woman or a group of women, it's respectful to call them a woman or a group of women rather than "that female" or "those females".
Well.. I have learned english on my own and I never thought of it that way. So many things are changing and the language is evolving.. I still struggle translating "they" as a singular to Spanish because we have 2 "they" (one for girls and other for boys and it doesn't make sense that is a genderless person if you give a gender) But as I have seen, eventually everyone gets used to it.. it will happen, it just needs a bit of time

Preferences are for each individual person regardless of gender and their sexuality, however, if people use this to be transphobic, now that’s a whole new story.
Yeah. As a trans person, I can confirm that genital preferences are in NO WAY transphobic.
But... constantly saying trans people are "fake" (men, women, etc.) or that "I would never date a trans person because *insert stupid transphobic, not even realistic reasons*", means the person is.
Yeah, and the fact that they literally steal and "edit" preexisting pro-LGBT+ comics (especially the pro-trans ones) is incredibly insulting. I've even seen them steal and "edit" some Aces Wild comics and it pissed me off. It's even worse that they don't even cover the artists' names or the original comic titles because it shows that they genuinely do not care about the intended audience for those comics nor do they have a shred of respect for them or the artists.
There's nothing worse than someone's wholesome work being taken and manipulated to support bigotry and their name being left on said work so that it gives the impression that it was done by that person in the first place.

The most insidious part of the whole"swimsuit under shirt and shorts" thing is that, it's 4th grade. We all know it's not other children sexualising these children. It's the adults, their teachers and administrators.
They don't look at a 4th grade girl in a swimming suit and think "Aw, she looks like she's ready for a fun day." Nope, the first thing they see is her body 🤢 and the first thing they think is that it produces 'unconrollable' sexual desires, that are so intense that the little girl herself must take responsibility to stop it.

Wait, thats exactly what my dad does too-
My grandfather was the same. The kids ALWAYS got food first.
My dad cooks most things together and then if it has a bunch of choices he lays out the plates so we can choose what we want, so at the very least everyone gets their food at the same time

You disgusted with biology?
Why'd you dated a girl then? Go with other men then. Since guys don't have periods.
And if you can't then buy a fricking mannequin and do it with that then.
The men who finds periods disgusting are the saddest bunch of people.
I (MtF) hadn't seen my alterous partner for two weeks, and when she came over she happened to be on her period. She just wanted to cuddle and sleep over, but was embarrassed of potential leakage. I pulled her in for a hug and let her know I don't mind cleaning up as long as she felt safe and comfortable. Then I showed her where I kept spare pads and tampons.
Why straight men get bent out of shape about their partners body during that time of a cycle is beyond me. It's a little thing, but its an easy way to show your compassion towards your partner.

@@darththeo ew wtf? I hope he doesn't treat his female clients this way
That's kinda how I use the word homosexuality.
(It helps even less that in most movies like this, the character's life is depicted as a failure due to their "unbecoming" career choice/interests.)

re: "woman" vs "female":
"woman" is a noun, and "female" is an adjective.
for example: *that woman is a pilot* can also be written as *she is a female pilot*.
"female" is almost always used as a noun when referring to animals - "the female leaves the den to go hunt", etc.
I think incels started referring to women as females in order to 1) pretend that they're smart/smart enough to "study the female specimen", and 2) degrade women to be viewed as creatures/inhuman
edit: I've clarified more extensively in replies to this comment, but for those who don't feel like searching, I'll say this: I primarily meant this in a layman/everyday communication context.
I still struggle translating "they" as a singular to Spanish because we have 2 "they" (one for girls and other for boys and it doesn't make sense that is a genderless person if you give a gender) But as I have seen, eventually everyone gets used to it.. it will happen, it just needs a bit of time
@@sofiacaldera2232 También pasé por lo mismo, sólo que es un poco dificil de entender el contexto porque "female" realmente puede ser usado de forma científica (Como podría ser "hembra").
