I've never had that in my life, as somebody that fancies himself as a songwriter. I was born in 1982, I cried a bit about Dimebag, but the Rev was my John Lennon. While it might not be so savage, I thought about what Jimmy would've contributed to music. He could've been the next Frank Zappa, FACTS!!!
Same. I'm an amateur drummer and I'm really in love with Jimmy's style. He has an amazing and unique style, same for his voice. This gaved Pinkly Smooth a sound that reminds a Tim Burton movie, something just dark and a little bit creepy and I love it. I just think that he was an amazing musician, one of the best, really underrated. And I wasn't expected to hear his voice in this masterpiece. I'm a religious and I believe in the afterlife and I just hope one day I'll can meet him just to see if he finally become the knife master and to say "thank you, you've done really much for me". For now, all I can do, is send him prayers for his soul, he was a religious guy too and I hope he's finally free, hope he's making a great concert with someone like Jimy Hendrix, Freddie Mercury... And, honestly, I think he's watching Brooks with all his pride because he's a badass too, the only one can really be like Jimmy. I'm from Italy, so, I'm a little bit distant from his grave, but when I'll travel in USA, I'll bring him some flower and some prayers on his grave.
It’s probably because he wasn’t around to record a final version, I like this but quality wise those vocals would so sound out of place with the rest of the final version, he doesn’t even say all the words correctly here lol, he was always known for making up Melodies before even having the final lyrics done. If he never died we likely would’ve gotten a final version with this Rev bridge in it, it’s a demo for a reason and that’s why Matt’s vocals are different on the actual song too. If Jimmy didn’t pass his vocals totally would’ve been on the final version

He simply mumbled, common for demos, so it wasn't usable. Fiction is an exeption and even there he mumbles quite a bit sometimes so I think it would have definetly been revisited had he been alive but they left it due to respect (my guess)

The amount of people who I’ve seen who think Jimmy wrote most of their stuff is absolutely mindboggling especially because Jimmy literally didn’t write a single fuckin song for A7X until self titled. He was an awesome musician but alot of people I see got some weird obsession with him and love giving him credit for things he didn’t even do.
Yes he is. This demo was recorded during the making of the Nightmare album. This was probably recorded in earlier 2009 which was before he passed away.
Respectfully those lyrics are not the ones from the demo. Some of what they are singing isn't even coherent likely because they don't write lyrics until the studio.
Portnoy studied the demos to get it as close to the demos as possible. He did add things here and there, but for the most part, he played what the Rev did.
