Jimmy really was such a beautiful and progressive songwriter, I love hearing demos of songs we know he exclusively wrote/originated

Don’t delete, i miss Jimmy Voice, all the demo is prove that The Rev is multitalented, Drummer, Pianist, composer, Song writer and etc… Love it

This song was actually written a long time ago. In an interview, Syn said he and Jimmy wrote it together during Pinkly Smooth-era while drunk off vodka

I figured this demo was out there somewhere and I'm glad it is because I don't think I heard this when it was originally leaked in 2016 and I was always hoping to listen to the very last vocal track Jimmy ever recorded before he died just 3 days later even if you can't make out most of it apart from the clear lines he sang that are on the album version since it's a demo

Makes you wonder how the song would've turned out to be if Rev was still here.
There isn't any room for guitar on the verses except playing a chord. Syn did add some guitar on the live performances wich is interesting

Shadows wasn’t wrong when he said the demo had a lot of words that was hard to make out, they definitely kept the best parts of this
Yeah it's even been said by the band that he did a lot of vocals for the entire album, probably even more than he did on the self-titled since he had so much material but the vast majority of it couldn't be used because they couldn't figure out what he was saying as most of it was him just mumbling the vocal melodies nor could Matt replicate those when he tried them himself, so they just had to use whatever Jimmy recorded that was discernable like in Fiction or Save Me. He apparently did so much for the record that he kinda lost his voice a bit towards the end of his life and couldn't properly execute some of the vocal parts he did the way he likely intended to if what Syn said on the breakdown videos for Save Me is any indication, so he really put all he had left into Nightmare but unfortunately didn't live to see it get completed.
wow. he recorded this exactly how he would’ve recorded a pinkly smooth demo. sometimes i wish we got more from jimmy… matt did a good job figuring out the right words to say for jimmy throughout the song though. such a beautiful mind gone too soon
Jimmy was a genius, Matt perfectly complemented this masterpiece with his lyrics and vocals
Apparently he actually had parts of this song written as far back as 2001 during the Pinkly Smooth days but never used any of it for the longest time until he decided to finish writing the whole song for Nightmare supposedly knowing he might not live to see the album's completion given the pain he was in. Of course he only finished it 3 days before his untimely passing though and the parts of his vocals in this demo that are clear were used on the final version, so he never got to properly record it and Matt had to improvise the rest of the lyrics after his death as you said
Literally with a little more of work can sound like the real next Pinkly Smooth song...sadly it wasn't like that but his own principal band complete it in his honor in the Nightmare album

I was genuinely over the moon when I saw this leaked. I was honestly happier then I've ever been in awhile. I've waited over 10 years to hear this. It's so weird to hear the extended version of 3:36-4:08.
A little sad that they took out the lyrics "How we all would give our lives for you" and "I'm one step behind you." But honestly I think they did the song justice even with all the autotune.

That 4th line, I hear "How we all would give our life for you" As for the rest, I hear some random words sometimes, but a good chunk of it is definitely just scratch vocal type stuff. I genuinely think he just goes "nanana" at one point which is standard for scratch vocals lol

I disliked this a lot at first, but anyone who's heard Pinkly Smooth knows Rev would just throw shit into a song to make a melody. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted this to be his friends tribute to himself, for closure
