    As I see it, the Sony FX6 is three steps below the Venice 2, two steps below the Burano, and one step below the FX9, but the right tool for the type of work you do.

    I love how your brain works, man. I often think along these lines of efficiency/minimalism/essentialism. In 2015 I quit my ops management job, 2 yrs after graduating from college. I went back to school for video. I find myself applying lean methodology and continuous improvement strategies from my first career, now into my current career all the time.
    One difficulty I had early on happened after everything was fun and interesting. Scripting, storyboarding, shooting, editing, flying a drone - everything was fun until I realized I just wanted to have a camera in my hands and sometimes fly a drone. That still captures my interest. Now, I have a network of artist friends with different interests and now specialties, like photography, aerial cinematography, graphic design, and web design. For non-corporate/corporate-doc, non-commercial inquiries, I refer my friends. Or, I subcontract them if it’s a small part of the project, like 1/2 day of photography on a 4 day video shoot.
    Thanks for continuing to put out content like this. It sparks great ideas that get shared and benefit a ton of people. Hope you have an awesome day. 🤙

    Yep 1000%, people have way too much gear surplus to their needs (myself included).
    90% of projects I shoot require a very small amount of equipment.
    I was and still am definitely guilty of buying kit I dont need. It's a hard thing to stop doing 😅

    The advice I got early on was "get the type of camera for the projects you are working on now, not what you want to be doing." This way of thinking has saved me so much money over the years. Basically don't get the Red Raptor XL when the Sony fx3 will work just as well, if not better.

    • @davidmorefield
      @davidmorefield  23 дні тому
