Seems to me, that the reason why you can't place the pillars, is due to the debris on the ground ( rubble ). Once the miners have completed the digging, they will go back and clean up the rubble off the ground. Then you should be able to place the Pillars without being impeded
Likely just the regular adhd of his and 'steamer tax' reducing his ability to understand even less. It's something you have to just get used to from him or just never watch his videos. The old mini lets plays of his could get so infuriating bc of it.
I do enjoy Splattercat's videos to get glimpses of indie-games that may (or may not) interest me. That said - does he intentionally NOT read ingame pop-ups? "Does it have to be adjacent to a road for this to work?" (Big tutorial popup on the right explicitly says in big letters: "Buildings must be connected by Road...") "Wonder what's in this chest" (Big tutorial popup clearly says what the chest contains)
The man has excruciatingly high amounts of adhd at times. Along with the 'streamer' tax. Which means trying to talk and keep talking makes you lose like 30% of the small amount of focus available.
It feeds into his success though. There's been a number of times where I picked up a game specifically because I watched him absolutely botch it and it triggered my need to "do it right."
I love the games but this forced persona he's developed over the years is so fucking cringe. A lot of Americans seem to find it "entertaining". I can't stand it. I do like a lot of the games he plays but his personality is 🤯 🔫
Tried the demo last Steam Next Fest and it had a charming mix of Anno and Dungeon Keeper(ish). The Steamworld series quite often delivers on interesting games so looking very much forward to this.
I think by placing a storehouse up to a resource building results in resourses quickly put into the storehouse and storehouses share inventory meaning raw resources can be provided faster to resource refineries in a good storehouse network, and subsequently you get the right resource you need much quicker. At least that's how I interpreted the demo, I could not tell if Splattercat got this. I like it and look forward to the full release, thank you for digging into and sharing this, Splattercat.
I am absolutely unapologetic about my love for the Steamworld IP and with Against the Storm recently reinvigorating my love for the citybuilder genre, this is a must buy!
I am hype on this. Steamworld dig was the goat. Steamworld heist got me to enjoy a game style I don't traditionally enjoy. Steamworld build is right where I keep my heart. These devs make great games.
I wish they make a party-based, turn-based rpg in the world of Steamworld. The Hand of Gilgamech was fun, but it's more of a card game with some RPG elements and it was very linear in its progression. Thus far, Heist is -by far- my favorite game in the series, but I'll be following Build with interest.
I can fully relate to your ruby ptsd. decent games are basically forbidden to put any sort of gems next to any sort of cash in the UI because we all know what it typically means
Your production network is atrocious, I can hardly imagine a way it could be more inefficient. However, in the last few years I've come to appreciate it. Makes me feel better about my own awful city builder skills. Thanks for the confidence boost! :)
This game had me as soon as Splat said Dungeon Keeper-like. I _LOVED_ that game and its been hard seeing its legacy continue on in other games, but never have it hit home like those first two. I'm sure this game won't hit the nail on the head either, but DK 3 was _supposed_ to have surface-level gameplay and this does seem close to what I imagine that game would have been like.
I usually click through the dialogue as well. But in my adult life I am trying to experience more of the art thar was created. Especially for games on VR that have an involved story line. Horizon call of the mountain has an OK story and voice acting. Just being immersed completely is a wonderful experience.
Hey Splattercat! Love your videos and looking forward to this one as always! Definitely my favorite place to come whenever I'm trying to find the next indie game to scratch that itch! One thing that I think may be nice is if you added a tag on the video titles for games that are early access, just an idea! Thanks for the vids!!!
Thinks he put full release in the title of games he's covered before. It would probably be easier to put full release on the titles that are since 90% of the titles he covers are in early access.
I love the look and combi of the game, i'm definitely gonna try the demo. Also that double warehouse delivery would be like the first trade i would try to get. It looks really good, maybe even almost OP
any-and-all God(s) protect us from the "mobile", only EVIL pure-and-simple (possibly from the 8th dimension) comes from that dark path!, with you Splatty 100%!
I checked the steam page. Either they're not planning on having microtransactions... or they've not posted it on their steam page. We'll see when the game goes live.
i haven't disliked any of the steamworld games so far, they can end up on mobile and TBH were one of the few/only mobile games I ever found value in (steamworld heist, fair price, no IAP, well supported and decent ui)
Splat… you couldn’t build your support pillars because there was rubble on the ground, and you have to wait for your workers to clear it first… I’m not the only one that saw that right?
Yeah... the little "Wheatley bot" in the back of the wagon is ABSOLUTELY trustworthy... positively, totally no reason not to trust him with your life. 😂😂
Okay, I'm literally a minute 50 into the video and seeing the purple eyed bot for the first time. All I can think is "is that Wheatley from PORTAL 2?" I mean, he was yeeted into space so it isn't far fetched that he might make it to a robot planet..
Completely agree Splatt. I can't stand mobile games. I have to say I too clenched up when I saw those gems. Thank you for mentioning it and letting us know it's not slated to be one. whew. Kind of liking the looks of it so far.
5:30 I disagree entirely. I don't care one tiny bit which way something faces for any reason whatsoever. I grew up in a house with a door on all four sides. Where I come from, aesthetics is just the beauty of usability.
Hmm, I wonder if this game is their first step into a 4x game later. They've really expanded and built upon the brand. From something al ittle more than a flash game to 3d colony survival. I could totally see this turning into a Beyond Earth, totally NOT Alpha Centauri remake, type game. With it's going into space expansion.
After Portal, I can't trust round, big-eyed robots anymore. The first thing I thought when seeing him and how he acts is, that he will use and then betray them! Ah yes, Anno... Not fulfilling all their needs so they won't upgrade, wanting more crap... at least in the older Anno games. xD
Splat complaining about how much he hates mobile game. "LOL" Me, listing to Splat as I work at a company that makes mobile games: "Fair, but also (insert sad panda emoji here)."
bro, i feel you on the mobile hate. why are 99% of them so garbage about their monetary practices? just let me pay for a full game, ffs touring with my band for weeks on end, i really get jonesin for a game fix, but having a gaming laptop bouncing around in a van full of people and heavy gear isn't wise. sifting through hundreds of games for my phone only to find a handful that aren't plagued with microtransactions is frustrating as hell
Ooh, a more macro, Anno-style city builder? Got my interest. Stuff like this really stands out amidst the tide of Banished-style colony builders these days.
That purple eyed robot is definitely not going to stab you in the back. Nope.
He look like one of the cores from Portal. That is a red flag for sure. 😅
Spoilers, he looks like the main vilain from Steam World Heist.
the round "core", yup, with you on that!, he's got an "agenda", enslave the robots and conquer the universe or something!
@@godoftwinkies574 He’s definitely Vectron related.
@@godoftwinkies574 AND Steam World Dig. Not Steam World Dig 2, though.

As someone who's played the demo, I can confirm that yes, this is what's going on.
That's exactly what's happening. Was expecting to see what happens when the mine collapses during this video.

Plaque on a desk from work.

Dude for real! It is especially painful when he's playing a game you know and you just want to explain what is going on! lol

Anno 😵💫

That's why we love you Splatty.
I am absolutely unapologetic about my love for the Steamworld IP and with Against the Storm recently reinvigorating my love for the citybuilder genre, this is a must buy!
Can vouch for Against the storm.
Boy they nailed the creepy evil feel on that AI in the back of the wagon
I am hype on this. Steamworld dig was the goat. Steamworld heist got me to enjoy a game style I don't traditionally enjoy. Steamworld build is right where I keep my heart. These devs make great games.
I've always loved the SteamWorld games, I played the demo pretty much immediately when it became available and I can't wait for the full release.
Love the SteamWorld games, glad to see another iteration of that universe in gameplay form.

you had me at dungeon keeper
I guess it's time to explain to Splat about the bots and the USBs. When a portbot and a jackbot find themselves compatible very much....
😎🍻😎
I can fully relate to your ruby ptsd. decent games are basically forbidden to put any sort of gems next to any sort of cash in the UI because we all know what it typically means
The cutscenes and art style got me instantly, then I saw the 3D graphics and my jaw hit the floor. This looks like it has promis
I loved SteamWorld Heist. Really satisfying turn-based combat.
The artwork in this game is outstanding. I love it.

So that's where space core ended up
Steamworld Dig 2 was one of my favorite games I've ever played! I'm excited to try this one
Love the series, they make unique and fun games.
Before watching this video, seen so many play it. And this game looks amazingly good, and I am certainly looking forward to it.
Gems are a pretty important thing in the steamworld series, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
Looks very interesting, definitely going straight to my wishlist.

getting a verry thick glados vibe with this one
ive been wondering what the next steamworld game would be, and this is a dream come true!
Love Steam World type games, this should be a good edition, thanks for the Video!
You may have sold me on this one. Enjoyed the first steamworld dig game, and the heist one. This might be a nice one to play to relax a bit.

The whole gem pay walls really killed any enjoyment out of mobile games for everyone. And your right the gem icon triggered my own ptsd =(
Always love the great content man!
Purple ball has huge Wheatly vibes- also, watching on my phone, and those gems looked WAY TOO FAMILIAR 😓
hey you played it, figured this would be up ur alley splatt
If it doesn't have a song by Steam Powered Giraffe is it even a steam world game?!? Lol
Glad it doesn't for once tbh
Please repent of your sins and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ!
4:44 i swear thats the simpsons
The disembodied eyebot seems very trustworth...
I just want more Steamworld Dig!!
I just completed the Demo... I WANT MORE... I am very intrigued by this title... LOL!!!
The last voice track of the purple orb dude in your video had a growl dubbed on top of the voice. Classic villain call out.
Im glad it is also very stylized.
Splat will never be satisfied.
Loved Heist, so looking forward to this.
Because of you my Steam wish list is too big.
I so badly want the eyeball AI to have Wheatley’s voice. I always wondered what happened to him after Portal 2.
Yeah... the little "Wheatley bot" in the back of the wagon is ABSOLUTELY trustworthy... positively, totally no reason not to trust him with your life. 😂😂
Love the steamworld games ^_^
The way that they keep making games in the same world but new Genres is so interesting ^_^
A 'WIGGLE AMOUNT' SLIDER!!!!
we need to mine for the flux capacitor. And that is one creepy robot overlord
This game looks like it would be right up my alley. Splatty, you never cease to drain my wallet. Good on ya
