Life changing conversation. I'm 60% an optimist , 30% realist and 10% pessimistic. I love optimism , I feel like it's a very blissful way to live life HOWEVER boundaries are extremely crucial for optimism
“Expect the best, prepare for the worst” I like that. While optimism is great you also have to be realistic and know that bad things are going to happen one way or the other in life. I think there is a quote that kind of goes along with this that says, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.
I feel like most people are (or at least try to be) realistic in some sense. But imo the difference between optimists and pessimists is not wether you look at only the good or only the bad. The difference is more in the reaction to the real word and the realistic things that happen. Optimists choose to try to live with joy despite everything, and pessimists let the real things that happen get them down. The way I see it both optimists and pessimists have the ability to be realists simultaneously. Also as someone who has lived as both a pessimist and an optimist I know it’s not that easy to just switch your whole mindset, but being an optimist has made my life tremendously better. (Btw not trying to bash anyone’s way of thinking. Everyone’s mindset and opinions are valid)
I’m a realistic and it’s not easy interacting with either Optimists OR pessimists at times because each always sees you at the other end of the spectrum whereas, like Ryan says- were bang smack in the middle. We WANT good things and we think that’s a beautiful way to HOPE (optimistic), and we UNDERSTAND that bad things happen and think that there’s nothing wrong with accepting that (pessimistic) but we prefer logic rather than simply our feelings/emotions I guess and I feel like we take a bit of column A & B.
It's important to remember that realism doesn't mean cynicism and pessimism. I consider myself both an optimist and a realist. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but it's not devoid of them either. I feel blessed to live a good life, things aren't perfect and they won't always be this good, and they may be even better someday, but as I see it, life is 90% good times, 10% bad times. I love spending time with friends, making Sunday dinner sometimes and inviting friends and family over, but also I know that things like parking tickets, broken appliances, and more mundane things like taxes and bills are a part of life, too. I'm excited to see what the future with my boyfriend will bring for example.
You guys are so smart! I'd love to see you talk more about non-theatre things and political issues. You have taught me a lot about how to express my points and form a discussion, soo thank you! :)
The first time I was asked the “do you think the glass is half full or half empty” question I answered it’s half empty which is how I know I’m kind of a pessimist lol. Working on being more optimistic
I had never in my life heard anyone ask that question until one day in speech class I got asked to give an impromptu speech to that question "is the glass half full or half empty?" that was all she said, and there was no context behind it. She didn't even ask it like a question. Her voice was monotone, so I wasn't even sure if she was asking a question or making a statement lol. So, all I said was, "what glass are you even talking about? I don't see glass around here". She eventually explained it to me and I answered with "it's neither full or empty. It just is what it is. Needless to say, I felt like a dumbass that day lol.
13:50 oh my goodness yes I'm loyal to a fault and it's probably in part because I'm an optimist. I've had lots of friends who I thought were really good friends even though there were lots of red flags left for me to pick up on, I'd say I had a close friend when I was little who, as we grew apart, I came to see all the little things she'd done that had hurt me and she still tends toward insulting me to this day. I had a crush for 9 years and, along with a girl who was in my friend group for almost as long, I found out he actually really didn't like me or even hated me but was trying to spare my feelings (which on its own is kinda a problem because I would much rather you just block me out or something). And I probably could've realized it with both of them if I'd really cared to pay attention to that part of it but... Nope

I started watching sam on battle Universe back then she was my favorite I like cheering on for challenges want to win and such. As for ryan you was on my favorite Disney channel show at the time liv and maddie. Sorry if you guys want to hear me ramble but I want to say I truly love you guys continue to make some great content and hope you guys get that 1M subs mark
if you deeply analysed and think about it, you will conclude that being an optimistic dosen't work in all situation and same applies for being an pessimist and realist, so what to do, and what to choose with the best possible outcome, so i concluded that if you choose to be both realist and optimist in different situation , this approach will take you to best outcome with least cons, the reason i am saying this is that being an optimist will lead you towards hallucinations and pessimist will lead you towards depression and being a realist wouldn't work in all situations so i conclude this method with experience, research and deep introspection. (what do you think kindly comments)

I just think it's arrogant to truly believe that something is impossible, within certain circumstances. If we were all realists we would get nowhere. There would be no Musk. There would be no Beethoven. There would be no Van Gogh.
