The woman in the wheelchair was surprisingly good. I didn't expect that because it's very difficult to project your voice from the diaphragm when you're in that kind of seated position. Kudos to her. I don't think she was good enough to get a recording career out of it, but it was heartwarming and well done.
Of course, it is. Is that something shocking? Pop music has ALWAYS been as much about looks at it is about talent, in some cases more so. Especially these days with Autotune available, if a person has the right look and attitude, they can get a break with far less talent than some other gifted singer with no visual presence. So yeah, they always admitted it was about the look as much as it is about singing. Simon always said as much, especially for the talent under 25yo. It's been that way since the 1980s really.
What do you mean be real? Everyone understands that image is a large part of being any type of successful performer. Well, maybe not everyone, apparently you just figured that out and thought you needed to inform the rest of us.

I can understand if u can sing ,and they say no,why you would cry.but most of these ppl just can’t sing.plus josh was wearing bloody eyeshadow, but he got upset when he was told he could be a drag queen.
Not to mention the simple fact that if you stand in front of simon and ask his opinion, which is what you are doing by going to these auditions, you should expect to be insulted in some way or another. Its how simon got his name behind these shows. People audition to try and prove something to simon and people tune in to watch simon tear them up. Thats entertainment at its best.
@@piasophie267 fair enough. They still shouldnt make such a scene over a 'no' because if they are serious about a career in singing or show biz they will get a 1,000 no's before they get one yes.

No, looks are a big part of it and if you don't have at least a decent look you are far less likely to make it in pop music unless you have an out of this world voice, which is rare.
You are right, about looks being fixed. However, you can't have someone come in with no personality or stage presence who doesn't at least somewhat look right.
I would have let the Jack Russell through. He had talent. I love this show, but sometimes they are just a little bit TOO superficial and pass up true talent.
I think they actually made a mistake with the jack Russell kid. I actually thought he had a pretty decent voice. If Clay Aiken can be made into a superstar, why not that bloke?
Clay Aiken as far as I recall had a uniqueness about him and a personality. The Jack Russel kid just didn't have the look or even much of a personality. At best he would have got to the second stage of bootcamp and then be sent home.
You can have some that sound the part, but don't look the part. Then you get some that look the part, but don't sound the part. The X Factor at the end of the day is not about who sings the best, but who has that certain aura and charisma, that makes them stand out.

you know, telling someone they're too fat, or they remind them of a drag queen, etc., COULD be decent advice, as in, they're giving their immediate impression. But that isn't what they're doing - they're saying right out, "you're too fat so you can't be a singer", "you should be a drag queen". The one guy even came back to specifically say he was offended by that. If he reminds Simon of a guy that might wear a dress, fine. But don't order someone to "be a drag queen"... just, no. There's a difference. Regardless of what Simon says he meant, he's still responsible for the delivery - like what he's supposed to be judging in contestants. Judge the fucking singing like the professional you're supposed to be, and keep your opinions on the direction of people's lives, the job they 'should' have, what kind of clothes they should wear, how much they eat, and their taste in music the hell out of it.
