Draw io is great its fre and simular to visio for making icons quick or flow graph mind-tree etc, Inkscape is Great vector, gimp for normal texturing/painting/Photo edit etc :D
Inkscape is a very good program. The only downside is that it doesn’t handle CMYK colors. Otter than that I love it. A very good alternative to Adobe illustrator.

Hey Nick I have been watching your vids for a while. My pc isn't very good unfortunately and it takes incscape minutes to start. I love your vids. So anyways I have been using a very powerful app on my phone for both vector and photo editing It's like somebody merged photoshop and inkscape together. It even has a brazier tool. But I don't know how to use it. The only tutorials are in hindi since it is a very underrated app. Could you please make tutorials about it. Pls download pixel art.
I loved your tutorial. But I have a question- I played around with making my own border after successfully doing yours, same principles, same settings, just different size boxes and lines. In the final steps I placed it in four corners around a rectangle and brought the lines together, overlapping like you suggested. It doesn't look right when I zoom out, I can see a few askew pixels at the point that it overlaps. When I zoom in it looks fine. Am I doing something wrong or is it likely a resolution issue?
Hi you have a great looking portfolio of vids, I am completely new to inkscape which vid do you recommend starting with please ? I mean how to set up a blank page and go from there, your beginner playlist starts with ' inner shadow effect' I want to know how to set up a page and what size and shape it's going to be, also how do I work in pixels why not millimeter just to get familiar, I can't visualize in pixels ! or will all become clear...hope you can guide me...I shall just start watching...cheers.
Hey Nick, thank you for another tutorial! (How would you create a "sunburst chart"? it is in MS excel; circle with multiple sections or even multiple levels...) is there any way how to automate creation process in Inkscape...? Editing chart colors in excel is just nightmare.
Using latest Inkscape I can go to edit>select same and get various selection options except for "stroke width". I want to use the calligraphy pen and separate lines by "line weight" into layers. Any ideas how?

You can import files by simply clicking and dragging them onto the canvas. Or you can import them (control + i). It should be noted though that certain file types (like .xcf for example) aren't compatible with Inkscape. PDF is though.

An in illustrator could turn this boarder into a pattern brush an apply it with one click to any object.

I think that would have to be done manually unfortunately.

Haven't tried it. Web-based design apps usually lack a lot of the features desktop apps have though, with the exception being Photopea.
