I'd say if you had an 8 string, just try to tackle then entire song XD
You can play it on a 7. Just do an inversion of the Tritone. Instead of E and Bb you'd do Bb and E.
Interloperofficial, could there be a way to do it on a 6 string, or will I need a 7 or 8 string? I know I'd have to tune down low, but then I'd lose all the higher notes for the leads. Is it still possible somehow?
Kerbe The Metalhead sure. Instead of playing the breakdown on the low E on your eighth string and the first fret on your seventh string. You would play it open on your Estring on a six string and first fret on your a string on a six string. This would be an octave above what it normally is, but it would still be the same notes

how are you playing elixir strings on an 8 string? on their website they only go to seven string (10-56), I'm interested because I've wanted to play elixirs for awhile, but I just play 8 strings exclusively now.

Hey Miles, what do you think about the Banshee Elite 8?
Is there anything else in it's price range ($800-$1100) that you would recommend? I'm digging the 28 inch scale, neck through construction, woods, and overall look of the guitar, but I'd like to get some info from an owner of it.
I highly recommend it. I love the neck on it. It's super thin and the finish is incredibly fast. I'd definitely recommend the Banshee Elite's. I had a standard Banshee, but the Elites take the cake for sure.

What's that technique called at 1:54, and how do you do it?
I call it a 'saw tooth' scrape. Don't know if there's an actual name for it, though. Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, and a whole bunch of others from that era used it quite often. Anyway, just hold a finger lightly over the entire third fret marker (just enough to get the harmonics as if you're tuning up) and drag the pick upwards along all strings. Of course, this technique always sounds best with a high-gain amp/setting, but play around with it and find what works best with your particular tone.

It's actually not that hard to sweep. After about 8 years of guitar playing I realized I don't utilize alternate picking and sweep picking which makes it nearly impossible to play this. It took awhile to get use to but it comes naturally now after two years of learning how to use alternate/sweeping picking
