And this guy. This guy starts all witty about how I care too little about my personal hygiene to be a dryad to then add "not that I don't like your musk, I quite appeciate it actually". Sir??? I immediately fell for his voice and good nature. Then you learn he is super smart, romantic, and loyal. Then you find out he has a tower full of books that overlooks the sea and the sunset!! He has a good relationship with his mother! HE COOKS! God damn why does he still have to be in love with his ex and be a bunch of pixels on a screen instead of a real man.
I'm pretty sure if you ask him to say what else he likes about you, he compares you to Tara in what I think is a Durge specific line. "You remind me of her, sometimes... When she'd exhibit her more... feline qualities. Like when she'd caught a mouse under her paw."
Gale is definitely my favorite companion, along with Karlach, Lae’zel, and Astarion. Though the Gale, Astarion, Lae’zel dynamic is hilarious to witness.
If I was in my early 20s I'd be all about Astarian "~i CaN FiX hIm~" 🤪. But I'm 36 now and Gale is where it's at for me. He's got his problems but he's self-aware.
Gale does have some poor emotional regulation but he definitely gets better of the course of the game, aha. I definitely feel you though, when he talked about how great his home was, and the fact that he cooks, I knew that’s where it was for me. Besides the fact that his ex-lover is a goddess and she did a real number on him, he’s otherwise got so many good traits for a partner. I also love the fact that Tara and his mother apparently discuss his love life and, after Mystra left him, just want him to find someone who loves him and settle down so he’s not alone. You really get the sense that after the wild ride that Mystra was, he just wants to live a quiet life loyal to his partner, and begin a career as a teacher. Though he would also be super romantic, doing things like cooking dinner, going stargazing often…. The more I think about it, the better he sounds lmao.
And I thought he confessed he liked you! I got so worked up because it was the other way around in my playthrough. Damn it! I had to be blunt and confess that I wanted him! When I flirted with him, he got confused about it, and then blamed it on the drinking. But with a promise to talk about it later(in act 2, lmao). Of course, we're happily together now, he's alive btw. I made him choose to be alive and to live with me(in act two) and and I was so happy when he chose me over that witch Mystra(act 3). Plus, he easily chose, without dice checks, to stay as a mortal and return it to the Goddess then live his wondrous life with yours truly. Why did he have to be made up of pixels?! Why is life so unkind?! 😭

And at the party he proposed me to learn some magic and that's it. i've started to play BG3 thinking of only romancing Astarion but the more i play the more i fall into Gale, so smart, so delicate.. Oh.. Astarion is a doll but Gale.. This is the man i'd love to have in real life.

Late to this but at the tiefling party (after defeating the goblin camp) go with Gale and successfully pass the Weave checks, then do one of the 2 romantic options
After a long rest there’s a chance to get an interaction between you and Gale where he teaches you some magic. (You’ll know this when you see Gale holding a magical picture of Mystra before talking to him) Pass the skill checks and then you’ll be given the option for you can choose how you feel about him and for a romantic route, you have to choose either wanting to kiss him or handing his hand, both of wish he’ll become slightly embarrassed but happy. Then you just have to save the tieflings and have the party at camp
