Should also futureproof your console by having the EEPROM backed-up in the event of a hard drive failure and a modern HDD is far more likely to last longer than those 17+ year old disks will currently.

ACL Processing can work for all games, but the recommendation has been to turn it off for Live enabled titles as it does cause issues there. If it's a single player game and having it processed allows the game to work, that's fine.

Okay, figured out you can change the top Autodetect Partition Setting and then you can toggle F and G. It's in the settings menu of dvd2xbox. Still not sure why it doesn't autodetect by default though.

I bought the first model of the XBOX (classic) at a Dell market used, then I apparently realized that it is modified, the fact is, however, that I really want to remove this mod, I don't need it, I have many original games (IF the problem is not a matter of chips or various stuff). I'll explain the problem practically if I turn it on using the eject button I get the error of sending the console for assistance, if instead I turn it on with the power button it turns on normally with the only exception that during the initial cinematic the writing "X Xbox " is red/orange after this you go to the date menu (from the normal green color) and then go to the classic menu always green. PS. no messages from some software above appear during power up.
It sounds like you could be running a chip of some kind, due to the color change you mentioned, but booting it up from the eject button disables the chip. It could be an issue of your hard drive not being locked, and/or not having the proper original dashboard files on there. I personally do not recommend removing a mod from an original Xbox these days at all, it would be better to figure out which mod you have and build up a hard drive to your liking. Tools like HeXen do that.
Enable HD resolutions, best place to do it is in the stock Dashboard. Other than that any 480p content will have to be stretched on your TV settings themselves.
following up on the method of ripping the game files through the cd drive and ftp client. i have a chameleon chip in my xbox, i read somewhere that you can swap any og xbox cd drive into these things and they will function properly. however i also read that you can use almost ANY cd drive with these xboxes and it will only read burned games and not official ones. is it possible to swap in a random disc drive and copy the files from the games this way you think? my drive still works, i just dont want to kill it by trying to rip games.
You can look into old, old mods people did swapping standard consumer DVD drives into the Xbox. That doesn't sound totally accurate, and there are modifications you have to perform on a consumer drive, but they can work. However, yes, any Xbox DVD drive can be interchanged between consoles. The hard drives are keyed to their motherboards, not the DVD drives.
@@MrMario2011 Following up on my previous comment....i commented on another one of your videos regarding upgrading my HDD on the hard modded Xbox. i think the reason i stopped playing this console was bc my dvd drive was dead... but i found rockys video for putting chimp on the HDD to clone. so im going to try that. my question now: i know its preferable to put the disc in the dvd drive and let dvd2xbox install on the drive bc it patches games that need it automatically. is there a different process involved with just sourcing my ISO files and putting them on the HDD via FTP? (do i need to patch any of the games manually?) Is there a list somewhere online that i can read up about any games that i have needing patched? i really appreciate your help, and your content is very well laid out!
Interesting Ford Racing 2 doesn't seem to be on that ACL list but the game won't play on my HDD unless i extracted it using DVD2Xbox with ACL Processing enabled.

Is there a way to run the XISO on the console? Some games, like GUN and Tony Hawks American Wasteland have filepaths that are longer than the 256 char limit for a FATX path, so they don’t transfer over with FTP at all.
Yeah there is. Just change DVD2Xbox to ISO mode and it should work. The most interesting solution should be Cerbios as BIOS and CCI as a compressed image format for xisos to save a lot of space. Psyvariar 2 can be a small as ~100MiB when converting it to CCI. check out repackinator and cerbios for more information.
As the person above me said, you can go into ISO mode but you don't really need to 99% of the time. There are less than 30 games that have that long filepath issue and most of them can be patched like Alter Echo, Enter the Matrix, TOCA 3, etc. GUN works fine even without a patch though, dunno why you listed it. Anyway, there are only 9 games that were never patched so you have to run them as ISOs or through a burned DVD. The C drive isn't needed at all for this.
3:20 ACL processing can also mess up some games such as Monkey Ball and GTA San Andreas and cause them to not load and crash.

Metadata would be updated, but as long as the files transfer completely they should hopefully be fine.

I do it with my old Win XP computer. Got a suitable drive and a specific software to rip Xbox discs.

USB capability on the original Xbox would be much too slow to play games from.

Sounds like you're booting into a custom dashboard of some kind and have a Xenium modchip of some kind installed.

Is your laser starting to go out? On my weaker drives it can take longer to detect the disc, and if it doesn't detect properly it shows up like that.
