It depends on the circumstances of the breakup. Typically, if he did not meet my standard as a man, he most likely will not meet my standard as a friend... a friend does not Lie, Cheat, Steal, Abuse, Manipulate etc. I am friends with all of my ex's because they were good guys... we just grew apart or were not compatible. Our relationship was built on a solid Friendship. We do maintain boundaries, however... we don't hang out as those are sliperry slopes ... just a Happy - Birthday... Father's Day... Mother's Day ... text here and there.

I agree with Dave when he said people know who they are before marriage based on their religion if they want to be monogamous, polyamorous, or in a open relationship/marriage too. Its based on your age, life experience, lifestyle, how you were raised, and what works for you. You can't force anyone in how they should maintain their marriage or relationship unless they're committed to organized religion too or their version of their faith/religions. Lol. Me personally I don't like burning bridges with woman. Why because it bad personally and business wise women are the connection to outside business hook up they know people.
