"When faced with the evils of this world, happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, and anger gives you the strength to oppose it! So rise my friends, and BE ANGRYYY!!!!! " truer words have never been spoken. i hope you don't mind if i use this epic quote you just put forth.
I'll be honest, I forgot about it for the briefest moment, and then I heard Asura and I was instantly kicking myself. How could it NOT be him. It's like he said, it was no contest.
My gods, that finishing line is so damn inspirational. I'm gonna have to write that down. So I shall do so. "When faced with the evils of this world, happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, and anger gives you the strength to oppose it! _So rise my friends, and BE _*_ANGRYYY!!!!!"_* - The Green Scorpion, 2018
River Greystoke II Seriously that's like a rallying cry of a leader of beserkers before a final battle they know they're going to lose at the end of a movie!
Asura is my favorite original video game main protagonist. Angry and over the top, but passionate and caring. He embodies what Wrath truly is; the terrible reaction to calamity in the world, in this case the wrath upon the Gods that only take.
That ending, I was like "Oh this is gonna be cheesy" ...but then I was like "Wait a minute" "...Ah heck its actually really cool. ...gosh..darn it Oscar." fantastic video! Excellent work with it as always!
Yang: When faced with the evils of this world, happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, Natsu: Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, Asura: and anger gives you the strength to oppose it! Union: So rise my friends, and BE ANGRYYY!!!!!
Never I felt so profound and impacted by this countdown and the nature of berserkers. And like others already did, I must recite your outro quote: "When face with the evils of the world, Happiness can give you the foundation to bear it. Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it. And Anger gives you the strength to oppose it! SO RISE MY FRIENDS, AND BE ANGRY!!!" - Green Scorpion 2018
For those wondering, the song used at the end is "In Your Belief". Which, fun fact: is the main theme of the game and is used in other songs as well. In fact: i'd say the song highlights Asura's character and why he does what he does even more-so. Lines such as: "Even your smallest scars hurt more than the gods of this earth, and that is why you will continue to destroy everything", "You are the flame that burns the world I know, your kindness will burn this world and char the frozen time", and "what were your clear eyes looking at? what was echoing in your shaking heart?" just exudes Asura's character. He doesn't just fight for his daughter and family, he fights and continues to fight even against the God of Creation because of the scars inflicted by Gods such as Chakravartin. In a cruel twist of Irony: Chakravartin, in setting up these trials to make Asura the person who will guide humanity to it's destiny, does. Just not in the way Chakra envisioned. In setting up Asura and all the crap he went through, his wife being killed, his daughter kidnapped (twice might I add), and facing the Gohma and the Guardian Generals, he ultimately made his own downfall. And in a way, Chakra gave Asura a reason as to why he's so angry: control. Think of it like this, what if you found out that everything you had gone through, every tear jerking, agonizing, and unfortunate event in your life, was all directed by a God who claimed that he set this all up, just for you to supposedly guide humanity to that God's future? And note that this all what That God believes is the future for humanity. He doesn't leave it up to humanity to create it's own future, because as Chakra puts it: it's too short. You'll just have a small moment of peace, before you and your kind are thrown back into war and misfortune. So to Chakra, it makes perfect sense to have someone to guide humanity out of this cycle. But in doing so, he created Asura's Wrath. It is because of that use of control, that use of control by a God who thinks he is right, and as a result, has caused a living hell for everything and everyone on Gaea, that Asura fights. To give humanity, and his daughter, a future where no God can control your fate. A future, where only you can. Sorry about that paragraphed response, but I just love all the meaning behind Asura's Wrath and the final battle. Couldn't help but give my two cents on the meaning of the Game after you perfectly encapsulated Asura and why, to me at least, he is such a dynamic, interesting, and even tragic character. But anyway, GG Green Scorpion. Looking forward to your next video!
When blinded by the light, the darkness consumes you. When guided into good, unknowingly evil defiles it. Control is the foundation of evil, yet the discipline of good. Honor is what good strives for, when evil strives for horror. Anger is the biggest fear of evil, and good knows when to exert its wrath. Chaos is bound by the endless cycle, a cycle the gods will not permit to break. Yet, the gods fear mortals, for they have something the gods will never understand... Purpose, Control, and Wrath.
10: Sort of reminds me of the Nords from The Elder Scrolls! 9: The best friend you can have who happens to not be hesitant about mounting your bully's head on your wall. 8: The classic space marine shooter badass! Who needs a cover system when you can RIP AND TEAR through the opposition's HUGE GUTS with BIG FREAKING GUNS?! 7: It says something about how angry Painwheel is when the ONLY way to make her anything close to happy is wish for her to have a happy life while the person who made that wish is condemned to slowly become the new Big Bad of the game's world. 6: He's like the Anthropomorphic Personification of all the overblown side effects people think Grand Theft Auto has on kids. 5: Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women. 4: He's like a Berserker from Fate Stay. 3: Guys, we put Sans on a pedestal for screwing you over through Undertale's mechanics, but this guy doesn't let you get away with nuthin'! 2: What, did Kratos take death by irony lessons from Monokuma? 1: Dude doesn't care about your monologues, when the prompt appears, he WILL shut you up.
When faced with the evils of this world, Happines can give you the foundation to bear it. Sadness gives you the wisdom to aknowledge it. And Anger... gIvEs YoU ThE StREnGHt TO OPPoSE IT! SO RISE MY FRIENDS, AND BE ANGRY!!! Damm, that was one of the best ending for your videos. Didn't even think you made it up by yourself, at least not that i would have found a quote of it.
THAT. THAT was beautiful. That outro. That message. Tht unbridled FURY. *THAT* my friends is the EMBODIMENT of a berserker. Valiant. Honorable. Fearless. And 1000% PISSED. OFF.
Oscar about Doom Guy “When have you ever heard of demons having to seal someone away that’s something the good guys do” I guess the phrase “Acceptable Losses” has its limits even in hell
Holy crap Oscard o.o That last part gave me so many freaking chills all over! That was amazing! And now I am very inspired to make my next Pathfinder character a Barbarian.....
Now that you mention it, i don't know if it qualifies (because it's a Table-top game, and not a Video Game originally), but Amiri, the Iconic Barbarian for Pathfinder, is a character and possible Party Member in Pathfinder: Kingmaker (: Considering she starts with great strength, a magical Bastard Sword (Designed, in this case, for GIANTS), it doesn't matter if you have your own Barbarian in the game. Nobody else starts with something like that!
43:34 When faced with the evils of this world Happiness can give you the Foundation to Bear it, Sadness Gives you the Wizsdom to Acknoledge it, & ANGER Gives You THE STRENGTH TO OPPOSET IT SO RISE MY FRIENDS & BE ANGRYYYYYYYYYYYY!
You know what, Oscar? That outro genuinely moved me close to tears. There have been times when I felt a great deal of self-loathing for being such a volatile, quick-tempered, and anger-prone person. While I have come to accept it as part of who I am, I haven't necessarily felt good about it. But this list might just be the catalyst to another big change in my life. Long story short, thank you so much for making this list, Oscar. I really needed it, more than either of us might think. And many thanks as well to Eric Bergevald for giving Oscar this topic.
43:25 to end: Dude... That was the greatest thing I've seen in my whole UA-cam life. I literally joined in on the punch-fest and my god, I feel powerful. Not to mention the lesson was so beautiful and inspirational. I was thinking of using the lesson and punch-fest as a final fight in a story I'm thinking of where the hero's mentor calls beyond the plane and reminds him of that same lesson, which inspires the hero to flat-out go ballistic on the villain who has been nigh-untouchable the whole story and had a deadpan, cold and merciless look to him and this is the only and last time the villain is scared and outmatched as the hero does one of the most brutal, violent, flashy, relentless beat-downs ever.
That outro.....Righteous anger is a beautiful thing😭😭👏👏👏 I....I was almost moved to tears, man. Great job! On an u related note, that reminded me of one of my OCs On Deviantart.
Did any of us expect to hear the quite reserved Green Scorpion scream with fury? No. Am I glad he did? HELL YESS!!!! HOW CAN YOU NOT FOR THE LORDS OF FURY?!?! THE EMPERORS OF WRATH!!!!
Thank you, Green Scorpion, for taking it upon yourself to understand wrath. Thank you for doing such a perfect analysis of rage, wrath, and anger, and separating them into context. I, myself, have had anger issues for most of my life, but I've grown to understand that all things are tools, even anger. Anger becomes wrath, wrath becomes rage, and only when you rage are you evil. Modern society tends to forget almost all of that process, attributing even the most mediocre of violent actions as the first step down the dark path. In today's world, even to just be angry is seen as inherently a bad thing, and it is to the detriment of the world as a whole. Thank you for taking the anger into your heart, and thank you for understanding that it is nothing more than a tool.
Honestly, if a Fate-universe Berserker were to have been mentioned on this list, I think *Lancelot* would have been the better option, simply due to his backstory. After Lancelot's affair with Guinevere was exposed, he betrayed Arthur by going to rescue Guinevere from execution, killing several of his fellow knights in the process. However, instead of Lancelot trying to avoid the blame for his actions, he *wants* to be blamed for his betrayal. But because Arthur couldn't bring herself to condemn Lancelot for his actions, and thus forgave him, Lancelot was unable to forgive himself. And in the end, he sought to escape from his guilt by descending into madness. And yet, when Lancelot learned of Mordred's betrayal, and that Arthur was to face Mordred at Camlann, Lancelot attempted to join Arthur's side....but Gawain turned Lancelot away. And then, when Lancelot later learned of Arthur's death while fighting Mordred, Lancelot was overcome with guilt and rage. Lancelot is a case of someone who committed wrongs, yes, but he was still sympathetic, and actually made attempts to atone....but tragically, he was never able to do so. And even more than that, is Lancelot's "Eternal Arms Mastership", which allows him to retain the full breadth of his fighting skills regardless of any mental interference, such as the Berserker's Mad Enhancement. This means that no matter how angry, and no matter how *insane* Lancelot becomes, his fighting skills will not be affected in a detrimental way whatsoever.
Also, Lancelot's Knight of Owner (I know its supposed to be Knight of Honor, but a mistake with the kanji turned it into that) makes literally any object he can hold and choose to "wield" a weapon equal to a Noble Phantasm. He could no-sell Gate Of Babylon by grabbing weapons out of the air and using them with masterful skill to deflect others. Hell, he once used KoO on a fighter jet in order to control it. Yeah, Lancelot was both badass and tragic.
Holy shit man, the passion you put behind that ending, I'm actually in tears. That final speech needs to be in a fucking anime, movie, TV series, something. And say, I wonder if there are any cases where armor is a weapon, or at least shields
You ever see katana gatari long story short its anime in which a guy and a girl run around Japan looking for 13 cursed blades made by a master weapons Smith. One of said swords is a suit of armor that supposedly indestructible but also has blades on the sides so he can slice and dice while protecting himself at the same time so would that count
"When faced with the evils of this world. Happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, and anger gives you the strength to oppose it. So rise my friends!!! AND BE!! ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!" Green scorpion 2018 This quote sums up my entire life. It shall always be something dear to me and I thank you for this scorpion.
I waa bullied in school even by teachers i became a very angry kid it was hard i couldnt trust people anger is a big part of my life it was hard i hated myself because i exploded on people even friends for anything i thought against me but now in college away from that toxic place i have learned my anger can be controlled and i can be happy and trust again but that rage is still there but now from this list and asura i know i can use it for good and i can accept it as part of me thanks scorpion not sure how well i got this message across
Hank Nichols I was bullied by my freaking assistant principal. He threatened to get me expelled and straight up accused me for causing problems even though I come to the office for help. I was scared to even get help because I knew that Ass whole would get in the way.
MysteriousMrM dang thats rough did it get fixed somehow my parents had to go to the schoolboard who did nothing before she realized what she had done and changed herself tge staff at a school should help not hurt i had some teachers tell me if i wasnt bleeding they didnt care
I was bullied in middle school for 8 years straight and that is the reason i have trust issues and a anger problem and is the reason i lash out on people that i care about but i did learn to control my anger in high school and actually made some friends along the way thow i still have a anger problem i at least try to control my self so nobody can get hurt
Hank Nichols dude. I got a streak of shitty classes. I have been in a class with EVERY BULLY IN THE SCHOOL AT ONCE. I litterally wanted to strangle them one by one. But i kept my col for gym classes. Where i legit used my frustration to best the biggest kid in school at wrestling (FYI. The dude wss a foot taller and twice as strong as me)l
i totally knew asura would be number 1 his anger knows no bounds and what i like about him the most is that he used his anger to protect his daughter mitra
koji the dark that and the game is absolutely gorgeous. The animation is smooth, the action is off the wall, and the music. Oh the music. Is beautiful.
Most games, and media in general, shows rage as a product of hate. One of the best themes of Asura's Wrath for me was showing that it can also come from love: Asura loves everyone so much that it infuriates him to see them suffer, and so he has to act
“When faced with the evils of this world. Happiness can give you the foundation to bare it. Sadness gives us the wisdom to acknowledge it. And anger gives us the strength to oppose it. So rise my children! And BE ANGRY!!!!!” Those are true words to live by.
That ending was amazing! It actually gave me the motivation I needed to deal with the dickheads in work tomorrow, so thank you for finding a way to make me feel better, even inadvertently.
There's the possibility that a similar dichotomy of the beserker trope in the show RWBY between the main character Yang Xiao Long and the antagonist Adam Taurus. Both their abilities are centred around taking damage and dishing it out stronger; Yang's more passive (ironically) Rage semblance allows her to add the damage onto her own strength, although it doesn't keep her from getting hurt. If anything it turns her into a combat masochist. But sometimes moments of extreme anger can activate her semblance without the need for damage (like when her precious hair is slightly damaged). Meanwhile Adam 'edgiest thing on the planet' Taurus' unofficially named "Moonslice" directly absorbs damage via a conduit, his preferred method being his glowing red sword, and dishes it all out in one devastating attack. The main difference between the two is why they are angry. Yang, aside from serious abandonment/mummy issues, is moreso righteous anger. She'll defend herself, or more likely her family/friends, tooth and nail until they're safe and then go back to playing the fool so her loved ones can smile. Adam is a cun-Okay serious note. Adam uses the racism against his people to commit honestly hypocritical assaults on humans, innocent or not, and will kill off anyone to achieve his ambitions and claim that it's for the greater good of the Fauness...when it seems more like he's getting his rocks off as he get progressively more unhinged and angrier.
The Lannister's Banjo Bard Agreed! That’s my reason for liking Yang so much. If you hurt cut her hair, hurt her friends, or god forbid hurt her sister... You’re going to die. Painfully.
Personally I hate Adam as a character... But goddamn I love his fighting style, seriously, replace that horseleg lever action rifle with a shotgun and you've got me.
That outro gave me legitimate chills and changed how I saw berserkers. They were always that one simplistic, boring, staple class that were always there for just pure variety and nostalgia of other games. Holy shit oscar, this is by far in my opinion the best countdown or video you have ever done. Props guy, you outdid yourself. Ps did it take a lot of takes to get that ending scream right?
I usually record my voice in one sitting, but after such a long script, I had to record that scream during a separate recording session. And yeah, it took multiple takes, mainly because I had to control it in such a way that it didn't completely demolish the sound levels.
And if ya do these topics later, Dead Rising 3 should have some people to use, or AT LEAST their boss themes for prologues. Here are my guesses for what characters would be on those topics: Greed: Krew, Wario, Dr. Albert Contiello, Pigma Dengar, Gleeman Vox, Moneybags. Envy: Clockwerk, Hercules, Rafe Adler Gluttony: Kirby, Pac-Man, Darlene Fleischermacher, Guzzlord, Fat Princess, Yoshi Pride: Jherii Gallo Sloth: Komala, Theodore Lagerfeld Jr. Lust: Dylan Fuentes, Catherine, Morrigan Aensland, Kamoshida
@@nifinland I think for Sloth, we should also consider its apathy angle - not caring to make an effort or even try to change. The Church of Yevon has been especially guilty of this in FF10.
I think Necalli might be a pillar man. But other than that LIGHTING ROUND OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITES! Oswald - Odin's Sphere: Talk about life being tough because strap in and let me recount the sad tale of Oswald the Shadow Knight. His mortal life was exchanged to the queen of the dead Odette. For power via the weapon Belderever, by his SoB of a surrogate father Melvin. And well poor man was treated like a tool for war, before finding something to fight for in the form of Odin's daughter Gwendolyn. And boy does he put that power to use in fact going berserk is his mechanic in his section, as he speedily rends his opponents to shreds. Heat - Digital Devil Saga Ever wondered what would happen if the Beast from Beauty and the Beast had the ability to stay human turning into a monster whenever he wanted. But had an insatiable blood lust, and reveled in violence for every week? Or even better if Alucard from Hellsing was literally a party member in an JRPG? Good news Heat exists and he sure does deliver. Sure you can build him to manipulate and throw agi spells and repells with his avatar Agni, but his main squeeze is physicallcal attacks. Even in the novels he's an unhinged killing machine. But he isn't all heartless blood and reveling madness. He has a soft spot for Sera, and has some care for his comrades. Needless to say if you want to live never piss off Heat. Valkyr - Warframe You thought Painwheel had it bad, well technically she did but here's her drinking buddy. Blame Alad V for this one, but anyway Valkyr is a warframe built for rending especally Corpus fodder. With those claws on her, and many years of exparamental torcher she has for than enough to kill her anger on. Honorable mention: Heracles - Fate/ series Is it cheating to put an angry, buff, mostly in anime character here? Ok well I'll keep this short if you've ever played Fate/ Grand Order than congrats you have a VERY broken OP as fuck servant. Other than that ol' Herc here has an equally terrifying Loli for a master. If anything I would give him an official spot but uh I don't got any more Fate/ games other than Grand Order. So at least he can chill here.
10: One of the mightiest warriors in the Freljord, and a Pain in the rear if you're unprepared... Until his ultimate runs out. And though Olaf is a Berserker as well... Hey, at least, he was recognized. 9: Well, here's a horned dude who's enthusiastic about giving an army a good thrashing... I know little about Dragon Age, and I'm not confident to try and install it on my computer. Specs are a hassle to follow. Though... That doesn't mean I won't give it a go, it's just... Backlogs. 8: Two things: First... RIP AND TEAR! Second... You put some footage from WOLFENSTEIN 3D, not Doom, Oscar. And in Wolfenstein, there's no Doom Marine, only B.J Blazkowicz. And finally... Yep. A plot in Doom? DOOM GUY DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING F?#@! Basically, it goes like this: You see Demons? YOU MAKE 'EM EXPLODE INTO LITTLE PIECES. 7: Brain Drain's "Magnum Opus". In a way that makes you want to PUNCH 'EM TO OBLIVION. I mean... poor Painwheel. Man. 6: Okay, this guy is a complete ball of anger and mad rage. He's the kind of guy who would INSTANTLY put the city in 5 Star alert for buying a drink. Because he probably flipped off the cashier. 5: Well, The Barbarian is back from the Axe Wielders list... Except not as Mr Barbarian, but... Well, Sonya from HoTS. Kinda cool. 4: When I saw Necalli for the first time, I thought to myself: Holy Crap, he's pissed, he has a lot of hair, he wants to DEVOUR... And he's kinda cool! 3: Well, now I'll remember this guy... For being a big jerk. And... I kiiinda prefer Velvet. Plus, she makes a pretty funny Dove impression... Coo-Coo. And Barbatos? I hope Velvet DEVOURS YOU UNTIL YOU ARE FOREVER FORGOTTEN. Yeah, I said it. 2: Well... Of course, he had to be on here. Zeus made his life a fair deal of a hassle, I tell ya. 1: Does anybody want to see Asura body a planet? You do?! Well then... WELCOME TO ASURA'S WRATH, AND... Why was UA-cam such a jerk to Maximilian Dood?! The Asura's Wrath Boss Rage was awesome...
DeadlockDrago Even further, he knocked out the husband of a bartender in his home town of Sandy Shores. No wonder she would say "You're banned" whenever he walked in.
32:52 FUN FACT: in Greek myth, Kratos, who was an actual God, was actually Zeus' cousin. What he also had as titles under his belt were the God of Strength and Embodiment of Wrath. He was a Holy Berserker.
That ending.....got me in tears. And the speech you made didn't help with that but I am so greatful to hear that. Let your anger surpass the most greatest of obsticals! 🖒
I would've been happy to see Velvet from Tales of Berseria on this list, she was angry at Artorias for sacrificing her little brother to Innominat because they hated the world as is. She was angry at Artorias AND Laphicet for betraying Velvet and not telling her the truth of things and decided to emotionally wound her. She was angry at Artorias more for giving up on the world after he lost his wife and his unborn child, even though Seres remembered everything and Phi learned the truth himself thanks to his mother's memories. Velvet used her anger to almost destroy the world, woke up the Four Elemental Empyreans, AND killed Artorias just because he was giving up. She also had something to protect while using that anger, her little cousin, even though she sacrificed herself by allowing Innominat Laphicet to feed on her and she feeds on him in return until they both disappeared even after the world changed 1000 years later in Tales of Zesteria, its her sacrifice that gave Phi the chance to become the new 5th Empyrean, the silver dragon, and the light of the world, Maotelus. Sorry for the long description about Velvet, Green Scorpion. I know I would've been happy to see her actually on this list, but the fact that she was even mentioned was enough to make me happy.
Brick from Borderlands is a Berserk. Heck, in Borderlands 2, he smashes everything with just his fist. Including shields that reflect ALL attacks. Edit: I JUST thought of someone else. Red Magnus from Disgaea 5. He always wants to fight instead of doing things peacefully. He can turn giant with his Overload, he can use axes as well. And his specials are just crazy.
on the subject of borderlands, if this video was made more recently, you could have mentioned the brrr-zerker from wonderlands (though Brick would likely still be the one to make the list) Kind of like how Fl-4k from BL3 could have been on beastmasters or on a followup video like weapon masters.
Berserkers are my favorite kind of characters, the kind of characters that hold back there emotions and unleash there anger and fury onto the bad guys. Also the moments when a main character goes absolutely nuts and destroys every enemy in his path is really satisfying.
I sincerely hope that Oscar decided to mellow out after recording this, like herbal tea, a scented candle, bubble bath *anything* he got really heated at points
Your discussion on FPSs brought to mind the time my little brother perfectly described our strategies for Borderlands (and pretty much any shooter I've played) during a round of the BL tabletop game with our D&D group: "I'm either sniping or running and gunning. There is no in-between."
That was the most hype outro to a video I've ever seen and likely will see. Never thought I would get goosebumps from a top 10 list youtube video. Kudos
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this enough times already, but that last bit was just absolutely inspiring! I was genuinely moved to tears hearing this. I don’t know if it was because I was seeing clips from Asura’s Wrath, one of the best games in the world. Because the music was, and still is an incredible work of art. Or because your speech was just that amazing. But I can proudly say that this top ten was a absolute masterpiece.
I love Asura and I loved the game, but his anger is nothing compared to the wrath of anyone who played through the whole game before knowing the real ending was behind a paywall.
Yet he never mention fate in any of his list. And Fate (even tho it was an eroge) comes from a Visual Novel, which is a type of video game… and don’t come saying that it is too sketchy, since he took a danganrompa character in his Edgelord countdown
You could also make the argument that a lot of characters debut in Fate/Grand Order which is a mobile game, but I doubt Oscar knows much if anything about the Fate series.
Even though he’s not a video game character, I think we all need to pay our respects to Guts. He’s such a quintessential berserker, his series is literally called Berserk.
43:33 this became the inspiration and personal mantra of my newest D&D character, the barbarian Kruz Thunderscar. Though with the addition "fear gives you the solace to survive it"
And with 2 videos, yes Im counting your colab video about best siblings, You've got a subscriber. This one...while it touches on a topic most write off as "Oh I know that one, the one with anger issues" this shows how some have used that anger for more than anger itself. They way some protected, the way others sought fame, and the way some let it consume them, there's more to these characters and their lessons than just "IM PISSED OFF! EVERYTHING DIES" as most would believe. Also P.S. seeing asura at #1 was 1 not expected since most used their weapons along with abilities, and 2 still expected since you were aiming for their anger and reasons angle. The line at the end after your analysis on asura himself was breathtaking as well, cause I've never thought of things that way before. Bravo GS, bravo.
Fun fact: Doomguy also has a more tender side to him. In the original games, he had a rabbit named Daisy...had, as in the demons killed her. Then it was personal.
I don't know what it is with those video's of yours, but it's always awesome to see you do them and talk about them with your own oppinion. I do have to ask something: All of your countdowns are about video games, and while you know characters that originate from other media, you "can't" make a video about them because they don't originate from video games. That leeds to my question: Will you ever make a countdown/s about something not from video games or a video with people that you would have added to certain countdowns but couldn't because you specified on video games?
i seen a few people do this but screw it its too awesome and choked me up When faced with the evils of this world, Happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, and ANGER gives you the strength to oppose it!! So rise my friends!! AND BE AAAANNGRYYY!!!!! 43:33
Referring to number 1... If it had been anyone OTHER than Asura, I'd have called you out on bullshit. Asura more than deserves that spot, hell, he deserves a spot amongst the biggest badasses in gaming. Definitely one of my favorite video game characters of all time. LONG LIVE ASURA!
Such words to live by 👏👏👏👏
Maybe, but JESUS! That. Was. LOUD!!!
Got that right
I imagine someone badass saying this before facing a final boss like enemy
Even after hearing these multiple times I still get chills
God I just got the biggest smile right when I heard “sci-fi Buddhism”
Jacob FoxFires964 same here.
I'll be honest, I forgot about it for the briefest moment, and then I heard Asura and I was instantly kicking myself. How could it NOT be him. It's like he said, it was no contest.
I thought it was Hinduism
I was gonna say "Green, if Asura doesn't show up here, Josh will have some very choice words for you."
"Can you ship a guy with his own wife?" Makes more sense than most couples the Internet ships.
TheHeroOfTomorrow like the RWBY shipping community
White Darkness let's not for SEVERAL reasons friend
I was just thinking of that community. I like to make them mad with a ship absolutely nobody there wants.
there's people who ship Enabler (Ruby x Yang). Nothing is sacred to the RWBY fandom
Evan Scott Farshadow If it's lesbian, they ship it. My latest video is actually a response to that kind of shipping.
RHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
River Greystoke II Seriously that's like a rallying cry of a leader of beserkers before a final battle they know they're going to lose at the end of a movie!
Aye. A final manifesto before battle ushers them to Valhalla.
ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!
Wrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
“Anger is a virtue disguised as a vice.”
-Me trying to sound philosophical, 2020
Every man is a philosopher the difference between you and Aristotle is how you explain it.
Asura is my favorite original video game main protagonist. Angry and over the top, but passionate and caring. He embodies what Wrath truly is; the terrible reaction to calamity in the world, in this case the wrath upon the Gods that only take.
Yeah, Aasura's my VG hero.
I mean Asura.
cronos4040 he’s definitely one of my favorite protagonists and one of my requested characters for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate!
That ending, I was like "Oh this is gonna be cheesy"
...but then I was like
"Wait a minute"
"...Ah heck its actually really cool. ...gosh..darn it Oscar."
fantastic video! Excellent work with it as always!
Yang: When faced with the evils of this world, happiness can give you the foundation to bear it,
Natsu: Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it,
Asura: and anger gives you the strength to oppose it!

Never I felt so profound and impacted by this countdown and the nature of berserkers.
And like others already did, I must recite your outro quote:
"When face with the evils of the world, Happiness can give you the foundation to bear it. Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it. And Anger gives you the strength to oppose it! SO RISE MY FRIENDS, AND BE ANGRY!!!"
- Green Scorpion 2018

And now I am very inspired to make my next Pathfinder character a Barbarian.....
Amen
It's kind of funny, A Class that is stereotyped as the Mindless just kill everything class can really make you think.
On this day, many Berserkers where born into D&D and other games across the land!

43:25 to end:

That was the greatest thing I've seen in my whole UA-cam life.

Holy shit...That ending was amazing. Amazing job as always, Oscar.
"He won't lose to anyone...Cause Berserker is the strongest there is!!!"
Nice reference!
I was hoping we'd get a shoutout or honourable mention but he probably doesn't know much about FSN to begin with.
Actually it would have to be Hercules Berserker because Fate Stay Night was a visual novel which is a video game. Fate/Zero wasn't
Holy shit man, the passion you put behind that ending, I'm actually in tears.
That final speech needs to be in a fucking anime, movie, TV series, something.

The reason I was worried if Asura wasn't on the list was because I was worried that Green Scorpion never heard of Asura's Wrath.
I never thought of Asura that way. I loved your bit on him.
I got chills at that ending. Great fucking list man! side note, we get a lot of HD Remasters nowadays, anybody hoping for an Asura's Wrath remaster?
as long as it doesn't come with all the triple a bullshit that comes with everything else
If the ending is not behind a paywall I'm happy.
Most games, and media in general, shows rage as a product of hate. One of the best themes of Asura's Wrath for me was showing that it can also come from love: Asura loves everyone so much that it infuriates him to see them suffer, and so he has to act

There's the possibility that a similar dichotomy of the beserker trope in the show RWBY between the main character Yang Xiao Long and the antagonist Adam Taurus.
Both their abilities are centred around taking damage and dishing it out stronger;
Yang's more passive (ironically) Rage semblance allows her to add the damage onto her own strength, although it doesn't keep her from getting hurt.
Painfully.
This is a part of the reason why i like her, the rest being that her personality is exactly mine!
Personally I hate Adam as a character... But goddamn I love his fighting style, seriously, replace that horseleg lever action rifle with a shotgun and you've got me.
I never really thought about that. I especially like the small moment in 5-13 where she shows control of her temper.
I think Nora and Hazel fit the "berserker" mold better than Yang or Adam.

The outro quote was one of the most inspirational things I've ever heard.
Now that Wrath is basically outta the way, ya might as well make the remaining 6 deadly sins. Some other year maybe.
And if ya do these topics later, Dead Rising 3 should have some people to use, or AT LEAST their boss themes for prologues. Here are my guesses for what characters would be on those topics:
Greed: Krew, Wario, Dr. Albert Contiello, Pigma Dengar, Gleeman Vox, Moneybags.
Envy: Clockwerk, Hercules, Rafe Adler
Gluttony: Kirby, Pac-Man, Darlene Fleischermacher, Guzzlord, Fat Princess, Yoshi
Pride: Jherii Gallo
Sloth: Komala, Theodore Lagerfeld Jr.
Lust: Dylan Fuentes, Catherine, Morrigan Aensland, Kamoshida
@@nifinland I think for Sloth, we should also consider its apathy angle - not caring to make an effort or even try to change. The Church of Yevon has been especially guilty of this in FF10.
You can't have a berserker list without Kratos >:)
I think Necalli might be a pillar man. But other than that LIGHTING ROUND OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITES!
Oswald - Odin's Sphere:
Talk about life being tough because strap in and let me recount the sad tale of Oswald the Shadow Knight.
Heat - Digital Devil Saga
Ever wondered what would happen if the Beast from Beauty and the Beast had the ability to stay human turning into a monster whenever he wanted.
Valkyr - Warframe
You thought Painwheel had it bad, well technically she did but here's her drinking buddy. Blame Alad V for this one, but anyway Valkyr is a warframe built for rending especally Corpus fodder. With those claws on her, and many years of exparamental torcher she has for than enough to kill her anger on.
Honorable mention:
Heracles - Fate/ series
Is it cheating to put an angry, buff, mostly in anime character here? Ok well I'll keep this short if you've ever played Fate/ Grand Order than congrats you have a VERY broken OP as fuck servant. Other than that ol' Herc here has an equally terrifying Loli for a master. If anything I would give him an official spot but uh I don't got any more Fate/ games other than Grand Order. So at least he can chill here.
I’d say Kreg the Psycho from Borderlands 2 if you saw his trailer you’d understand
You mentioned valkyr ,now im happy

Regarding 6: No, he'd flip the cashier over and beat him with a bar-stool..... nah probably just his fists or a bottle.

That scream at the end. I need that Pacha meme.
I have never played Asura's Wrath. Yet I have watched it a dozen times. The character really deserves more attention and love.
*FLIPS ALL THE TABLES!!!*
That had to be the most badass ending to any video ever.....

So 11 would have been Legion from Fire Emblem. I see you’re a man of culture.

Barbatos Goetia, huh? Time for a little bit of mythology trivia! Barbatos is a demon in the Ars Goetia, who is a great hunter.

Top heroic spirit from each classes? Anyone?
Saber: Mordred
Lancer: Karna
Archer: Possibly Tesla
Rider: Iskander
Caster: Shakespeare
Berserker: Frankenstein's Monster
Assassin: Honestly unsure. Possibly King Hassan?
Even though he’s not a video game character, I think we all need to pay our respects to Guts. He’s such a quintessential berserker, his series is literally called Berserk.
with that anger, you can be a reviewer at channel awesome
43:33 this became the inspiration and personal mantra of my newest D&D character, the barbarian Kruz Thunderscar. Though with the addition "fear gives you the solace to survive it"
Hears the the green scorpions last speech
This man deserves an Oscar( no pun intended)
You guys had way too much fun making this list didn't you Oscar? Especially that ending part that's equal parts inspirational and hilarious.
Holy shit that ending Oscar......
That leeds to my question:
Will you ever make a countdown/s about something not from video games or a video with people that you would have added to certain countdowns but couldn't because you specified on video games?
i seen a few people do this but screw it its too awesome and choked me up
When faced with the evils of this world, Happiness can give you the foundation to bear it, Sadness gives you the wisdom to acknowledge it, and ANGER gives you the strength to oppose it!! So rise my friends!! AND BE AAAANNGRYYY!!!!! 43:33
Who else is going to live by the words from that outro?
YEAH! Asura is NUMBA OOOOONE!
I hope Asura is on this list
