I do like how the reactions to the pepper box go in two directions. 1. Holy shit what the fuck is that? 2. Doesn’t hurt, shoots little arrows. Not impressed.
To be fair, even when it's a nuisance, the enemy still notices it more than other attacks. Such as when he shoots the dragon and it's visibly annoyed, whereas every other attack it just ignores entirely.
As Talisen said in I think an interview in that moment Percival knew the second he pulled the trigger there was no turning back, but in that moment he didn't care
Its not that strong normally. He uses the hex spell to imbue his bullets with necrotic damage, hence why it basically acts like a 357 magnum sometimes.

Cannot overstate how much, coming in to the series totally blind, Orthax influenced Percy kept giving me "what the HELL is going on?!" reactions, way more than even the Briarwoods, their lackeys and even the Whispered One... It's instantly clear that something is very VERY off the second smoke starts pouring off him the first time Vox Machina lock up with the Briarwoods and it just gets 'worse' from there. So brilliantly done.

Yeah i love how ignorant kids would just dismiss it as "edgy" or others "too much a cliche" but most people with a strong will would end up like Percy. Driven every single second of every single day working towards that fateful day they can meet their family's murderers face to face and inflict every agony they likely fantasized over the years their they've had that trauma buried inside.

@@AzureMoebius22 I can only assume he didn't do so for some age ratings sake, like even shows such as the boys or invincible which are known for their gore and lack of fucks given to censor most things don't overly elongate torture scenes showing every detail of the process slowly Only time I ever saw such things were on sites (like back when this one existed) live leak where you'd be able to see actual.... Torture and other various sorts of videos like people being struck dead by lightning or workplace lethal accidents that would never make it to any normie site like UA-cam.
That's all well and good...until you find out about the smoke demon feeding on Percy's negative feelings as well as the souls of the people he kills with The List, and is on the verge of taking over Percy's mind.
@@deathbykonami5487 It really isn't a tale encouraging revenge, but using the corruption in The List as a metaphor for why you shouldn't seek revenge. The demon inside the gun is just the demon inside you called revenge, and in both Percy's and real life cases, it's very fortunate when vengeance doesn't make a villain out of the seeker.
After looking up when CR first started (and from the vibes of the Briarwood story arc), part of me wonders if Matt and Co were inspired by Bloodborne, since the video game came out around the same time - or something else similarly Gothic, like Castlevania. I wonder this since No-Mercy Percy feels like a Bloodborne boss through most of S1, except he survives.
@@samhill7817 No he is a full class Fighter, the magic he has was from the Magic Iniate feat he got under the variant human rules. Orthax was something Mercer added as plot point as Taliesin left it open on if Percy was inspired by an outside source to make The List or not.

Percy does more damage than anyone else when he attacks. The show lets you visualize it with the List’s bullets blowing people to bits.
Like a hand grenade going off everytime.
Mind you, this is after the enchantments. The ones that add lightning and fire.

I am so happy I've met Taliesen. Percy is badass, I miss Molly, and I LOVE Deucy.
But stonefell was not his tudor but captain. His tudor was in the Window at the end of this episode.
