old content, but just picked up the pack to make a new wallet for my wife! My first project was a long wallet for her and it's time to upgrade after the last 3 years of small crafts! Thanks for keeping the pattern packs alive!
I picked up your pattern for the last womens wallet you made with the zipper pocket and it turned out great!!! I've only been leathercrafting for about a year now, and i have to say thank you for making these videos. It really helps us noobies. Helps give some guidance, and its much appreciated!
Made one of these with the zip pouch for the Mrs. She loves it and has gotten compliments on it out and about. She sometimes just carries it as a clutch too. 👍🏽 Love it!
You are good people and great teachers. I was trying to decide on remaking a 25 yoa long wallet I had purchased. But it used cardboard liners for CC slot slits . Will purchase your pattern and learn more about wallet making. Thank you
Those video is from a while ago but I totally feel that this is actually easier than the bifold. I made the 9 pocket bi for my brother. Then his wife had a wallet and asked if I could make her a longer one. Thanks for the content and support.
When you stitch up that center line... how did you get your prickling iron to punch the holes evenly. Like it didn’t fall in a weird position on the pockets.
I will make this wallet without a pattern. It is enough for me to look at it and I will make it according to the size of the currency of my country. Thank you for the video
¡Excelentes patrones!
Thanks a lot for this. I notice in the final shots some puckering at the fold line on the inside. I've had that problem too in the past, when I've lined the inside of wallets. Any advice for preventing that? Your glue up seems super thorough, and like it covers the entire area very well. So is it a case of getting the two sheets to fold only very progressively? Thanks.
We just used pretty thick lining leather - you'd want to go thinner, possibly use a french skiver on that 2" center. You can also glue it while it's slightly folded to clue in that bend as well, but as it is that puckering should wear in and go away over time :)
The solution is to glue it on a curve. Remember, if the lining is glued flat but then the pieces are bent, the inside piece will create a smaller radius curve from bending then the outer because it is traveling a slightly smaller distance (tighter curve). But since it's glued, it can't create that smaller radius curve (it's stuck to the outside), so it just puckers. Glue on a rounded 45 degree and you probably wouldn't have this issue. A cheap solution, when glueing, make contact with a 1/3 of the item flat, then the second third while wrapping around a rolling pin or can of Pam, etc. Then the final third flat again. Cut excess off inner piece.
Take a trip to home depot`s tool section and find an oscillating spindle sander. This should be a cheaper option than the ower slicker with the drum sander. I use one and it works great.
I am a little confused which is pretty normal, what is the Measurement of the outer shell?not good with math. A downloaded your pattern and I'm just trying to figure that out. With metric I have 20 mm Please help.
Great tips, good looking wallet. Will have a go at skiving practice and I think it is time I replace some clunky Tandy tools as well (edger beveled for eg). Subscribed👍🏻
I was hoping to see how you come up with the measurements, like taking the size of bills and cards adding ease and seam allowances. So one step before this. Nice video even though it wasn't what I was hoping.
is anyone here got tips to avoid the wrinkles at the fold? should i put reinforcement paper on the other side or maybe i should glue the outer shell while folded? thank you..
Great job, you explanations are crystal clear. However, if it is possible I would enjoy that you offer an edit with just the making and no narration, the old way sort of. Don't get me wrong, I really like your tips and tricks, but it is a little long sometimes and it's nice to just see a work well executed without anything else in the way. Have a good day if you happen to see that comment.
@@Corter Thanks. I've always enjoyed your videos and I'm getting ready to begin working with leather... I work with fabrics and always use leather for the bottoms of tote bags and wantin' to expand.
I know you previously mentioned that you don't reallw use sewing machines. Have you ever thought of trying it to improve production speed? cool video BTW I really like the videos where you speak and go through the project.
If we do contract work that's machine sewn we outsource to a factory, I've got no interest in machine sewing because I love hand sewing :) We have streamlined our process for most of our stock items with cutting dies that we can spend the time hand sewing to keep the cost down
I bought some veg tan bellies from weaver, but the inner side looks really rough for any project. Just wondering how do you deal with this kind of problem.

Fenomenal piece. Keep doing marvelous pieces and video for us. I love it
Wonderful work, very clever idea. 12 patterns on one.... Wow that's amazing. Well done. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷... :-)
Fabulously informative!
I love this pattern. Made so many wallets with this. Still need to do a lining yet. Tried once but wasn’t very good

Which is the optimal leather thickness ??
I’ve never found it in the material list.
Thanks
Thanks a lot, your video is great as always
What can I do to combat those wrinkles? Or is it going to mostly depend on the leather?
Love the wallet, could not find the pattern in the link. Help!
Great content😍 can you do a skiving tutorial of your best methods???
Great Video!
Can you tell us how thick the leather you used was ?

Bought it 🖤

Beautiful pattern. TY. I want to make this as a double zip wallet. Twice as big with two sides exactly like these.
that'd be so much storage! Go for it!

Do you make anything with Sheep-nappa instead of veg-tan leather ?? I really look forward to ....

How many xacto blades do you go through in a project like this one?
usually just 1 :)
