This is what I like about weird Al, He does not make spoof or parodies with the idea to insult but to make it fun. The real thing that happen is that he called Michael, asked his permission and agreed to it and even sign some documents saying he co write it. Weird Al is being professional. even though he knows you don't need to ask permission to do so, but still he does because of respect to original artist
Michael Jackson absolutely loved Weird Al! He was all on board with him doing Beat It and Bad, but felt the message of Black or White was too serious for Al to parody, so he wouldn’t let him do it, with all respect given. Al thought that was kind of a good thing, and instead parodied Smells Like Teen Spirit. He always said it was the best move he ever made, because it reinvigorated his career. So, basically, Michael Jackson kickstarted Al’s career directly twice, and indirectly once. 😆
Michael even gave Al a small cameo in his video for "Liberian Girl" in the video, Michael has gathered some of his famous friends for a music video and they are looking for Michael, Al is first glimpsed from the back as a misdirect. Someone asks "Michael?" then Al turns around and says "No, but I think Bubbles is here" he reappears later playing his signature accordion.
Michael Jackson is the world's most expensive celebrity to work with during the 80s and 90s. Even if you had the budget, the chances are low because Michael was always busy.
So I loved Weird Al when I was a kid, but for years, I've had a vague memory of seeing this as a child and being super creeped out by it. I legit started to think it was some crazy nightmare I had until I finally stumbled across this video. At least I know now that I didn't imagine this!
Same here bro. The 80s were soo weird, Strange, and just so surreal and those of us that were brought up during the 80s at the time as children remember it as a creepy and again weird and strange era yet awesomely fun time, Ya know, with the "like a virgin," "sweet dreams," whams "everything she wants," "look at me now" Reo speed wagon and along with "Billie jean, "beat it," and of course "Thriller." Life at that time was completely strange but true..., yet in a somewhat serious, and again in a surreal sought of way..
In real life it was an instant thumbs up, and then the parody of "Bad" was automatic. In other words, Michael admired Al's music, giving him permission. Michael was also a co-writer of Eat It. Madonna actually asked Al to do a parody of her song "Like a Virgin," and turn it into "Like a Surgeon." She came up with the idea. Al always asks to artists for permission for his parodies. ua-cam.com/video/ENTDakiphP4/v-deo.html
Wasn't this from Weird Al's, "The Complete AL" VHS tape? I seem to remember former School Teachers etc talking about AL. I will always appreciate the fact that Michael Jackson did give AL permission to do the Videos. In the 1980's a lot of folk believed AL did the video's without permission. We Were Wrong! Al's Spoofs of Michael Jackson's videos were master pieces! High Five to Mike for letting him do it! Sluggo
That portrait of Diana Ross on the wall though after Weird Al walked in lol! I almost missed Muscles the boa constrictor on the Butler. To think Michael kept that damn thing and it never came to no harm, God forbid it would’ve swallowed whole of bubbles of Louie the lama.
What should've happened at the end was Michael Jackson would say a line, take off his werewolf mask from his music video and say, "This guy is weird, but I like him."
Wow this is rare. I ve seen the eat it n fat videos growing up when i was little but dont remember seeing this intro .....They should have done this as the full eat it intro to make it a mini shirt film in honir of thriller music video..when michael turns into that creature it shoukd go right jnto the music video for eat it.....
I dont know what this program was called as i didnt get the first minutes of the program when i recorded it back in 1987-88..but it was like a documentary and interviews and acting + music video's of Weird Al's life up to then..
Anders Vian This is from "The Compleat Al", a VHS mockumentary that is long out of print and very rare. I haven't seen it since I was a kid and was ecstatic to see this bit posted. Would love to see more if you had it!

This is exactly what went down as far as im concerned. Damn right michael was on that throne. KING
your username....wow...
Mrs MichaelJackson_Lover lol
Jackson was bent out of shape until he saw the royalty payments coming in from it.
@Mrs You almost literally stole the comment 1 thread down, posted a year before "yours"...

Al's face when he sees the tiger is just priceless.

This video has the 3 things that make it the best: a beautiful dude such as Al, 80s stuff, and Swedish subtitles.
This skit would've been perfect if he got Michael Jackson himself to be in this.

To think that this guy couldn't get michael cause of the budget, when few years later he get to Micheal's "Liberian girl" music video for Cameo
His hologram was probably there......
This is 100%exactly how it went down as far as I'm concerned.

Right
Just the creativity and effort that went into this depiction, it's a shame that there's nothing like this anymore.
I was asking myself "is MJ was going to talk?"

I remember this on MTV when I was a kid. Literally 35 years ago. So amazing seeing it again. Like a time capsule. 😂

That was a cute tiger.
Can anyone guess Michael Jackson hand signatures in this video while Al was getting permission?

The tiger part was hilarious!
The ending would explain why Al is a Werewolf at the end of the Eat It video.
Al reminds me of shaggy from the live action movies

Michael Jackson looked perfect in thriller. He should have never went further
The fire extinguisher right next to MJ 😂
Is there part 2 somebody can give me link for part 2?
If Michael saw this I’m sure he loved it
I remember my dad laughing out loud at the Grammy door knocker
I have a feeling when Al tried to asked Prince to parody one of his song, he just ended up being in a prison for 1 day.
From which VHS is this?
What is this from??
