I loved the intro. Too funny. The topics in this video resonate with me as I'm an artist. Not a genius by any means though. 😉I like the suggestion of reading the books close together.
thank you for letting us see something quite personal. you look lovelt together. I’m so glad you picked Moon and Sixpence up, I’ve been curious about it since I’ve read Maughams famous book ‘something with a bondage on the title’.
There is a little-researched Booktube effect - when you are recording, other people in the flat/house will bang a door, suddenly return - in one of my videos, someone laughed upROARiously in a separate room. Your husband was hilarious and has a latent talent for writing absurdist/surreal short stories. Thank you for keeping this in, for a bit of real life around the edges of the direct-to-camera delivery in a neat home.
I think you raise some interesting questions re genius..they do say genius is a burden..having read biographies of Proust, Van Gogh and now Joyce it seems with these people there simply was no other way with their lives..they had to get it out..I think an interesting question is the concept of genius today..are there any real geniuses in today's world?? Great review..when I've finished Ulysses(700 pages in) I'll get the Blue Ruin book..looks interesting..read a few Maugham books and enjoyed most over the years..great writer
Yes Ulysses is a slog but in a good way..after reading a book like this one needs a moment to gather ones thoughts..at first blush it was brilliant and frustrating, gibberish and sensicle, nonsense and plain sense, bizzare and yet not..I'm glad I've read it and it has to be read..it leaves many more questions than answers...

Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. We need more artists in the world. I don’t know if we need more geniuses though. 🤣
LOL LOVED your intro, more please 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 Maybe not too much. The review would never get done.
You two are so cute.
Thank you. Sometimes. 🤣

Thank you! I thought to leave it in. He makes me laugh but doesn’t “get” the books I like to read. 🤣

I cracked up with this observation. Yes that’s exactly what happens. 🤣

How’s Ulysses going? Is it a hard slog?

"I saw Nijinsky fly over the moon eating Diaghilev on a platter with a spoon."
"La lune ne garde aucune rancune"
"L'imitation de Notre-Dame la Lune"
You got me down a rabbit warren reading about Nijinsky!! 🤣
@LifeLessonsFromBooks Nijinski was awesome, Henry Miller loved him. Certainly very flawed, taraumatised, as we say these days. A Man on fire.
Caligula cries for the moon. He demands the moon. When Caligula demands of you that you bring him the moon, nothing good could come of it.
