One comment about the design of large mountains like this, I've begun using Doug Wright's notion of making structures into dioramas, in this case I will attempt to make the entire mountain into a removeable lift off allowing for unrestricted access to the track work. The paper Mache is similar to sculpta mold which I've used successfully for years. I suspect the base around the front of the mountain may be a challenge to loosen. Be a good place to put wax paper down and let the paper Mache harden without sticking. Bases of cliffs and walls are great places for under brush and I use pieces of red rosin paper at the edges of lift offs and seams so the overlay the edges and hide the seams.
