Very soon No More TVs in all the Rooms. They don't want us to Stay in the rooms watching TV. They want us in their casinos day and night. I'm actually surprised they haven't done away with TVs yet.
Thats why i love to stay at the hilton Elara they have a full size kitchen and alot more for a great price

I remember the days when it was cheaper to stay in a casino than a motel. The Paddlewheel was $20 a night while the Sleep Inn was $65 a night.

I just got back from a two day comped room at Nomad! Lost my budgeted a** but sometimes you earn your keep. I ate well and had a top floor room all comped. Life and wins are not guaranteed, but as long as you have fun and don't dread the loss, you are in great shape. Thank you Jacob for your content!
Resort fees are bad enough but the taxes on the resort fees is insult added to injury

LOL, after the military I can spot a pube in the bathroom from a mile away. And I've never stayed at any hotel where I couldn't spot them. Cleaning staff are underpaid and overworked in my opinion. Leave a generous tip when you leave for the day for extra service. It's worth it. Plus, have staff replace the bed covering because most hotels don't wash them very often. At a Holiday Inn Express I saw cleaning staff walk all over one before putting it back on the bed. Plus, at that hotel the cleaning lady used the toilet cleaning glove to replace towels. Ugh!
We shouldn’t have to tip “generously” to ensure our hotel room is properly cleaned. Vegas is expensive enough as it is.
I live in Nevada and will never pay 275.00 for a room! Vegas has totally changed and these prices are ridiculous.

The good old days are gone. I'm glad I got to go to Vegas in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. The casinos were appreciative that you chose their casino to stay, and you could feel it. Comped or cheap rooms, always free drinks. Very good buffets at unbelievable low prices. Free show tickets. Coins clanging when they hit the pans. Slot players with dirty hands sometimes faces from handling the coins and tokens. What a cool place to go. Now. Not !!!
Less than 10 years ago you could get a good room for 50/60$ a night.
because now vegas is all corporate. Its all about returns. Its not as much about gambling now...they lure people in as a "destination" and know people will eventually have a drink or just be in vegas and say why not. Before everything was geared about getting people to the tables.
Las Vegas blows me away now! They want to charge you $300 for a room so you can gamble all your money away, but wait! The food is twice as expensive too! Someone tell me why Las Vegas is worth visiting, compared to other travel destinations? This is not the Las Vegas that I used to love...

It’s why we started to go to Reno instead. Free rooms, better comps. Food options may not be robust but you can still get some good meals.

@@openmindedillustrations7106 Yes, I have visited Las Vegas over 100 times in 25 years. The cost of the experience is too much now. Case-in-point, Uber will cost you $30 each way with tip. Not to mention that eating out will cost you $100 min for a nice dinner.

I just arrived at a milestone in my life. 57 and I realize I can’t stand crowds and being ripped off so Vegas is now off my list!! I am glad I experienced old Vegas with lots of food deals and cheap gambling without the house edge heavy applied these days!! 6-5 BJ triple zero roulette huge table minimums!! Always remember a fool is soon parted with his money!

Prices of hotels at las Vegas became absurdly expensive and that’s why I don’t go there anymore.
Yes, good times...cheap steak and eggs, good buffets, loose slots, and cheap and/or free strong drinks. 💯

I was under the impression that you weren't allowed to film in the casinos. Props to whoever does the camerawork! Nice steady shots without any of that shaky, hand held, vertigo inducing crap!
I stayed there on comped nights and really liked it. New and pretty. The food options were really good. We drive in from Arizona and getting around is not a problem. Station casinos have been more generous than other properties lately with offers. I have stayed at Green Valley twice recently.
Last time I was in Vegas, Durango was the only place I was approached by someone while I was getting a hand pay to ask for some "help" so that they could win their own hand pay 🤑

I'm conflicted on this. On one hand, the service at Station casinos is (in general), top tier, even at their more budget friendly options. Station service is what Vegas used to be like and what is, IMHO, sorely lacking in a lot of the Strip casinos. Red Rocks in particular is flawless; the service is incredible, the rooms are attractive and comfortable, the view is great, etc. - it's one of my favorite resorts in Vegas. Red Rocks a little pricier, yes, but what you pay is cheaper from what you'd expect for a resort of that caliber in other large cities (LA, Chicago, NY, Atlanta, etc.). Durango seems to be priced slightly higher, but if I looked at it on a nationwide scale, I wouldn't say the total cost is unreasonable for the amenities.
On the other hand, however, for Vegas the Durango prices are ludicrous, especially for the location. For a group that prides itself on appealing to and taking care of locals, I really think Station is missing the mark on this one with the high room price plus steep resort fees. If the total cost for the room, resort fees, and taxes were in the $160-220 ballpark (depending on the day of the week and time of year) this would be a great addition to the area, but the total cost for a Sunday in mid-July is just not reasonable. Hopefully after the year one shine wears a little pricing hits a better value; I'd love to check out this property but the cost just doesn't make sense.
Why would a locals focused casino want to give cheap rooms to locals who already live there and don’t need rooms? Hotel tooms are explicitly for tourists not locals.
whats up jacob im a vegas native, but i was forced to move to the east coast about a year ago im 17 now, and i miss home🤣 so thanks for the videos. i was raised on the eastside of town and lately after floyd mayweather bought the skating rink on boulder hwy its been poppin. the culture, and vibe there is crazy on saturdays, and sundays, from 6- 10 pm you shold give it a feature on the channel!!
Wife and I will be staying in August. We both received 2 comped rooms. We always stay at the Sunset Station and our rooms are always comped. We are lo rollers to boot. Looking forward to checking out Durango.
Put Durango in one of the larger cities in California or a major metropolitan area across the country (with or without the casino) and their prices would not be unreasonable. In Las Vegas, where there are so many hotel options, I wouldn’t pay to stay there.
If I wanted to stay off Strip, it would be at Red Rock or Green Valley, both have a better location. I’m also not paying that kind of money for a room without a soaking tub.
One thing I like about Durago as well as Circa is how it doesn't smell like a massive ash tray.

$275 is a bottle of wine at dinner. The Durango is great! Beautiful lobby, great Bel Aire bar, best designed sports bar too, great food court. The Strip is a whole other area, I’d stay at the Durango as a staycation.
We received comped rooms for 2 days but had to be Sun-Thurs. The room was very comfortable, bed was much better than most. I would love to come back and stay, if the prices were a little lower. We attended shows on the stip both days, was only a short drive, so to us that was not an issue, but if you use uber/taxi it could become expensive. When we visit Vegas, we like to look for local places to eat instead of the casino. Just because you are in a hotel, does not mean you can't feel like home. - Know where the local bank, walmart or drug store are.
I mean when I went to Bozeman, MT for a couple days in May, a simple AC Hotel was nearly $300. Other Marriott hotels around the same time were charging similar rates. I’d take this room over those Bozeman rates any day.

Stopped at Durango in May 2024 while in Vegas….ate at Summer House, which was gorgeous with very good food. The casino? Not my style - sure, there were a lot of machines to choose from…but there was no spark, no vibe that would draw me in to want to sit there and play. Won’t bother to go back but I would still revisit Red Rock or Rampart if I wanted a break from the Strip and had a car. Thanks, Jacob!💕
Hi Jacob, I just got back from Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage. I love the rooms in this Hotel. The rooms are large, and the bathrooms are absolutely beautiful. I get 2 nights for free Sunday thru Thursday. The Casino is very roomie in some places with the Slot Machines. I love this place now my relatives and I stay 3 or 4 days during the July month every year. I believe it is our 10th year straight. They all love it, it is a family tradition. Now we have a new generation that just turned one.

For smaller resorts like Durango, having higher room prices benefits them when they provided comp rooms. It provides the illusion of providing more value (higher room price) to the player. Most of the people staying in the rooms aren't paying for the room, so when someone does pay, it just offsets the rate of comp'd rooms. Like 1 payed rooms would cover the overhead for 2-3x comp'd room
I love that you went through the casino minimum bets. I wish you could do that at every property that you visit.
Last time I was in Vegas $275 would get you a suite at Encore (Wynn) incl. Breakfast.
While I wouldn't stay at Durango, I do think it's a pretty good place to go to gamble, since I like playing the Roll to Win Craps seeing as it's $5 with 10x odds, along with the good variety of slot machines. It's also a plus since I live relatively close to there.
If I HAD to go to Vegas, I would pay a premium to stay far off strip at a nice joint. I am old enough to remember when the Vegas strip had some class, a nice room was well below 100 bucks and a decent prime rib dinner was 9.99. And Vegas was happy to see you. Now they make you feel like you are lucky they are there to serve you, and you are gonna pay for any comfort or lux experience. Vegas is soo last Century. Yup, I aged out of Vegas.
I was in LV in May 2024, and did get to visit a few off strip properties for the first time. Never been to Durango.
Did stop in to Red Rock, M Resort, and Green Valley Ranch. All nice resorts! Surprised at room rates started at mid-$200s. Somewhat pricey for off strip properties.

If you use a players card and do a reasonable amount of gambling, you can easily avoid resort fees.
Same here @johnwalkowiak2002. The strip is getting worse and worse with drug addicts, shootings, thievery, fighting, derelicts, hookers and panhandlers. Add to that the cold corporate atmosphere, the nickle and diming for everything to include parking now. Extortionary room rates and resort fees. I've had enough. GVR, Red Rock and the Durango are my go-to properties when I'm in Vegas these days. I was platinum level with MGM for years. But I've switched my play to Stations.
Great video. I’m a Vegas regular and I will only stay at the Wynn or Encore now. The luxury and service is top notch. I thought this room was average,but double sinks is always a huge plus.
The Durango is the newest and one of the nicest new hotels in the entire city. It’s owned by the ferittas family and they make amazing hotels. This place is packed every single night because of how nice it is . But let’s be honest the price is high cause of the popularity and “new” ness of the place

Went to Durango last week for noodles at Shang and the oyster bar. Good food but didn't experience anything else there. Definitely was very out of the way from everything else.
Always enjoy Jacob's take. The more videos of his I watch, the more I realize the Horseshoe is the best value in Vegas, by far.

I made a special trip to go out there about a month ago. And yes, while all new and sparkly clean, it felt a little warehouseee The entire casino roof is just flat. With ceiling tiles like you would see in a business office. The only place that had some character was the sports book that had 2 levels and one level extended outside. So unfortunately, with those prices, that would be a Giant NO...

I stayed at the Durango in June. I was there for two weeks for work. They paid for it.
It was the best hotel I’ve stayed in Vegas hands down, and legit one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at anywhere. Restaurants were amazing. Tables games were cheap and dealers were great. Pool was again the best I’ve been at in Vegas… wasn’t an annoying party. People having fun but not a club.
Can’t recommend this place enough… not sure if would stay the same if I was paying for it, but if someone else is picking up the tab… it’s really fantastic.

Back in the mid nineties I took a few days off work and went to Vegas with $1000. Checked into a fleabag motel and had a good run at Roulette at the MGM Grand. Was up around $20,000 by the time the pitboss walked up and asked where I was staying, when I tild him he said "Oh, you don't want to stay there, come stay with us... for free" I was a total Noob and didn't understand comps. Anyway the tag in the closet said the suite was $600 a night, nice room. Called the boss a couple days later, to ask for a few more days as I was up about 60k at that time. Few more days later left vegas up 130k quite a trip, got quite a few 'free' stuff... helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, Limo to the airport etc. Conps were so much better back then. Went back a few years ago and everything has changed, Vegas isn't nearly as fun and comps are really stingy now... you'll be lucky to get a free buffet 🤣

Went to the Bel-Aire bar there for a few cocktails it was pretty nice. Quality drinks at about $20 each and the bartender Jenna was attentive and friendly.

Yes, have 2 days booked in September. I love to hang by the pool while hubby gambles and the food court and Mexican restaurant are a must do. Usually we do Red Rock for a couple of days along with the strip, but this time trying Durango. Oh, BTW, only staying due to comped room/comped resort fee/ FreePlay/Resort Credit.
Even though housekeeping is unionized, they are not paid to clean the rooms, they are paid to finish cleaning the rooms as fast as they can. That’s as bad as paying truck drivers by the mile. You don’t get a very clean room doing it as fast as you possibly can
Wow - this sort of pricing actually puts me off travelling to Vegas. I always thought that rooms in Vegas were cheap, which then compensates for your spending around the city. At almost $300 per night, I'd reconsider my trip, for sure!
That said, the room does look gorgeous, but I'd probably rather one of the big strip properties!

Durango is the tightest slows in Stations. Stations are insane with their room rates even for their high status.

It's a darn nice looking resort to be honest. Yes the price is high but people must be paying the rates if they are charging them. I'd definitely stay here.

😢😮😢 Usually you are right on with your info. But the Venetian comment is way off unless your talking about some players club deal. A upgrade suite at Venetian is $250 on top of your regular room price. So regular rack rate of over $200 would make it $450 for the upgrade room. We just left The Venetian on Tuesday. So my info is very current. 👍
Spot on, just got back yesterday. Around $220 but with resort fees and parking rental car over $300 easy.
@@yuji0078 was that a regular suite?? They offered us the upgrade to the hospitality suite with patio and bar entertainment area. Thats $250 extra per night. The best suite is The Presidential. Its about 8k a night and we have been offered 2k per night. The Venetian is by far one of the best on the strip and there for is not cheap. They take good care of you. We like the Cruise comps. 👍
If one buffet is worth $90, then that room is a bargain for what you paid. However, neither of those statements is true, so no, it wasn't worth the price you paid.
I stayed here just last month 2 nights comped with a $75 slot play but some of the restaurants were kinda high on price the Hawaiian bbq place I ate at in the food court charged $4.50 just for a can of Pepsi 😂 food was good but a little overpriced. Forgot to mention eat at the restaurant by the sportsbook as their food and staff is really good and great service you get more bang for your buck eating there
Looks like you did just as 'well' as i did at the slots in Durango. Fastest $40.00 i lost in a casino! But we were just there to visit and see what it looked like. We didn't stay but from what i saw of the property it does look very nice. As you said the casino floor is packed tighter with the slots but the outer parts leading to the food hall and sports bar are fine. We drove from the Cosmopolitan to Durango and also hit Silverton and South Point. The drive was worth it for us to see it but we probably won't come back there again.
Always wanted to stay at the cosmo but can’t bring myself to do it for a room. I can afford it but it’s ridiculous to spend $300+ on a room. Plus I never stay less than a week. I figure I’m better off spending the cash on things to do while I’m in Vegas, maybe one day if I win the lotto.
Lol, I hate the double diamond slots. When I was 21 and before I lived there, I won my first jackpot at Excalibur there and in the last 30 years I've gravitated to it but haven't won a dime 😢

I got one better. Booked a room in the Bellagio last month. Was checking in the front desk, room wasn't available, she made a call, and she told us she could upgrade us to a room with a fountain view on the 36th floor. Oh great a room with a fountain view, no biggie. Went to the guest elevator bank with less people and hit the 36th floor button. Didn't notice there were only 8 floors to chose from. The elevator door opens up to the hallway, and the ceiling was so high and it just felt so open for a hotel hallway. That feeling of open space continues to the room. Maybe 20ft high ceiling. My sister-in-law comes in the room 'Oh my fucking gosh'. She swears all the time at my brother but never to other people. The 36th floor was the top floor, and we were able to figure out which room we were in from the Bellagio painting on the wall. Over the years I've seen the fountain show outside, different floors and even from a Caesar Palace suite. Turned on the TV synced up to the music with American themed songs that night. Whitney Houston National Anthem paired with the fountain was ever so powerful. When 'Proud To Be American' played it just brought me back to Basic Training in the Iron to Steel ceremony. The sense and value of what being an American means. My gosh that Bellagio Fountain is so beautiful.

I got the Nobu Hotel for 8,300 Alaska Miles I got as service recovery and $56 resort fee upgraded to a Luxury Room in November. I am getting a complimentary room at NYNY with My Vegas
iv'e been there since it's opened, I don't think it will survive. to expensive, all by itself. I can't see the locals spending this type of money
It was June of 2018. We had booked our room as normal at the Venetian for our anniversary week . The same time my brother had booked a room at the Mirage with his now wife . He is in the Air force so when we got in at 10;30 am from New York he was coming in at the time from England at 6pm . Crazy thing is lol we get to the Venetian 5 hr before check in and once we arrived no questions and no extra charges , We went to our room and the wait was like 10 min . My brother arrives at the Mirage at 645 and didn't make it to his room about 8pm . We met up the next day because being in England and travel let them rest so we met up 4pm . He said we have to go see the pool at the Mirage and his room . The pool was great and as for the room he booked total was like 1800 at the time for 8 days .. We walked into the room, told the price and I said get your shoes on and come with us to our room at the Venetian for our 8 days , Showed em the hotel , pools and the room . The look and the wow they made in our room was like no other lol. he said wow this was like 3000 for the week or 2500 I said nope w tax we paid 1486 . 16 yrs going we only stay at the Venetian . We went on our honeymoon and since then for the size of room , the bathroom , my own vanity for make up , 2 55 in tvs , tv in bathroom , the sunken living room and being about 800 sq ft no place comes close and we have stayed at the Wynn w friends and we still choose the Venetian . The size of room for the dollar is not even close you ask me . The service , pools , security to rooms , food Love the Venetian . This room is half the size compared to the Venetian not to mention bathroom .
Crazy how expensive it is without being close to the strip I wonder if most guests stay with a comp.
