Finally a review of my holy grail (since October 17). Kicked Claymation out for this. Thanks for mentioning the girls. This is perfect for short haired girls. Robin, everything you said about this product is so true. Oh and your haircut looks sooo good 😍. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. I thank my boyfriend on a regular basis that he found your channel
Nice surprise to have you review Northern Lights! And my best compliments for the room decoration, I do love your taste in interior design and notice you are upgrading and making your space more beautiful month after month :)
How is this matte paste hold wise compared to gray ghost? I know the matte paste is a bit drier and more matte versus gray ghost being more on the natural finish, but they both are high holding products.. Just wondering 🙂
I am going to apply product the same as robin and see how it holds for the day, also got my shear revival matte paste from my dad on Amazon for Christmas, so good
I have the Arcadian matte paste at the moment, I really like it, but I'm getting this Northern Lights matte paste next for sure! Heard many great things about it 👍🏻🙂
Hello Robin as allways great vid! Please make one video of a compersion of all Shear Revival Products... there are so many and are expensive for try all.. we need your guide! Thanks! Cheers from Italy.
Great review Robin. It’s good to see you’re bringing the great home brewed products to people’s attention in the UK. You need to have a look at Flagship cream pomade. Creams are fairly new to the home brewed market, but it’s a fantastic product.
hey robin i just watced one of your older vids on a fringe hairstyle, back then your vids were still awesome and improving every time, got some lovely inspo for my hair
I used to use the anchors aweigh products before covid but now can't find them anywhere. Is there anything like them on the market? I have a comb over shaved sides style and I like a product with firm hold, great channel, keep it up!
Really digging the longer sides. Think I'm getting over fades. Finally found a barber that didn't make me bald when she put texture. Thanks robin Edit: bring the handle bar back!
Love this product great hold and texture good feel not to oily or dry my kne issue with it is the smell is a little too strong. Love the smell itself citrus herb smell. But it lingers and stays forever. I like when the smell is there and then fades about 30 minutes after it's in the hair.
Loved your review! How is this product for longer hair? Currently growing my hair. The front of my hair is around 8 inches and my sides are around 4 inches or so.
Hey Robin, have you seen Morris Motley's Lunar New Year collection? They've released a hair thickening tonic and a new treatment styling balm 2.0. I think they'd be cool to review on the channel.
Have you tried the new Arcadian clay pomade formula for this year? Im trying to decide which one to purchase out of these two because i have not yet used a high end natural clay paste or pomade before..only the box store brands with all the junk in it, which i want to get away from
I'm late to the party, but you didn't mention what prestyler you used. Normally, or at least in the last review I watched of yours, you mentioned using it as both a prestyler and a poststyler, as well as just a poststyler. And we got to see the difference. This video didn't have that, so I'm just wondering, did you use your fave aveda tonic spray or did you also use this paste as a prestyler?
arcadian has the most hold out of all of them but for me, it's insanely hard to apply. Flagship gives the most volume because of its lightness. Shear revival i felt was the perfect medium and it wasnt too dry. Odouds was pretty dry but had a perfect medium in terms of hold and volume
Hey Robin, great Video! Have you ever tried Kevin Murphys Thick.Again? I consider buying it, but since I am on a budget I am somewhat reluctant at the moment
@@ManForHimself I would really like to know your opinion on it (if you have it, I would not want for you to buy it just to tell me your opinion). I am just really self conscious about how thin my hair is getting ( I turned 20 last year) and I am looking for something to help with that
Hi Robin, are there any chance that you could do a review of the Reuzel Extreme Hold Matte Pomade? Thanks Other products that look interesting are: Stickmore Clay Fiber and Flagship Cream Pomade
@@ManForHimself also look into Flagship cream pomade. A very versatile product for textured looks or clean looks. Very light weight product for thinned hair people.
Not sure what to do. Need some help. Alex Costa is supposed to be coming out with a new product, and by the sounds of it, it's supposed to be a crazy high hold clay, which I'm interested in, but I'm running out of my current product(which is a clay) and don't know when his will come out. So if it doesn't come out before I need a new one, then I'll have to go with something else for now. This is one that I've been really considering, Blumaan said it's one of his top products, Robin seems to really like it, and it sounds like many others like it. I personally am looking for something that has a REALLY strong hold, is matte, and gives good texture without being crazy heavy. I do a messy/textured forward quiff and once I get it how I like it, I don't want it moving at all haha(With the use of a little hairspray obviously). So does anyone have any suggestions, whether that be the Shear Revival Matte Paste, or something else that they know is better?
@IlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIl I would say normal. It's kind of on the thinner side. It's thick in the sense that I have a lot of it, but the actual hair itself isn't thick, but it's not super fine either. As long as my hair isn't WAY too long for the style I'm going for, then I don't really have a hard time styling and controlling it, but I would still like to improve my post styling product.
Templeton Tonics Oasis clay is extremely high hold. I have dense thick hair and two small scoops post blow dry is able to tame and style it. I also have lockharts matte clay, but the Oasis is definitely more about the hold and is less "greasy" or oily. Look into it, it's great stuff
Amazing product...BUTTT. This product works soo well with my new longer hair style, i have thicker but straight darker hair and do a combover with a skin fade on the sides. Never used a clay pomade type like this and it works so well all day and has greattt texture and good hold, workable through out the day. BUT this stuff irritates the hell out of my scalp and gives me dry, itchy skin bad. Ive given it a chance on and off to see if its something else but it flares up almost always day after using it even if washed out and gets worse when i use it multiple days in a row. Any other products that are very similar to this?!?? Im so sad i cant use it anymore im about 1/3rd through the jar
nice review, better than blumaans monarch matte paste then? Have you tried anything with a stronger even more matte finish? Also, its either lighting or your beard is uneven :(
How is the hold for REALLY thick hair? I’ve had trouble with pomades not being able to really hold my hair down, so does this have a high enough hold to keep thick hair in place?
Much better than the Crystal Lake, (only other shear product i’ve tried). On par with Odouds and Arcadian matte pastes. Arcadian is the one for me though😎
Tamas Menyhart i’m wearing northern lights right now and i gotta say YES, and slightly more volume as well! I prefer the Arcadian or O’douds matte paste over this, as i find the better hold comes from them being drier/tackier. SRNL is tacky but a tad ‘wetter’ if that makes sense, and that takes a bit of any extra hold over the other 2👍
@@LongDongSilver78 thank you so much for the tip! That's what everyone seems to say, that SRNL is good but a bit wetter.
