What’s the Best USA Boot? - Who cares, what's the best boot in the world?
Please look beyond the USA more for your footwear reviews. You seem to be a bit US obsessed. Your video on barefoot shoes for example didn't even mention the originators and market leaders Vivobarefoot, probably because they aren't a USA company or have a big presence there. Maybe you should broaden your horizons when considering the footwear to review.
Where are the Trumans, Weston lmao
I love these Q&As
The British Boot off sounds great can't wait to see the docs on the bottom of the list 😂
Love the Q&A's and the discussions. Helps give me perspective. Keep them going!!
This channel is a great complement to the original, keep up the fantastic work! :)
Love the Q&A. I'm glad you were asked about Truman. I think their styles look nice, and they APPEAR to be well made, but who knows! Will look forward to that.
I bought a pair of jk 300s soon after the first video and just ordered a second pair in the new leather offering. Great boots
It is so nice to hear you answer these unscripted. This shows that you are knowledgeable and it is impressive. Well done.
Because of your review, I ordered origin Coronado whiskey in mini lug. I live in Mn, so I’ve had red wings for years, and I love them, but so hard to break in. My origin boots will be delivered tomorrow, I’m excited! No zombies are catching me!
Great Q&A! I can’t wait for The British Boot-off and any dress shoe videos. I’d love to see some of the big Northampton brands dissected. Our shoe industry here in England has struggled and I’m sure your videos would help it a lot. 🇬🇧👞
Yeah, I'd like to see some Grensons cut up. Find out where my money has gone.
Love these Q&A’s!
What a great idea for an engaging Q&A video @Rose Anvil! It was entertaining and informative (but I must admit I miss Toaster). Pls don't forget about your commitment to review Allen Edmonds boots. They are hugely popular due to their style, variety, and very flexible sizing with many widths to choose from. I have at least 10 pairs, not counting shoes and sneakers.
I’m glad to hear that you will cover more about Truman boots
I love these videos. Super informative, raw and real. Looking forward to more and hoping one day my question will pop up there:
If you had to pick one boot to live with for the rest of your life out of All the boots you have ever reviewed, which would you pick?
Great content! Looking forward to the next MitUSA roundup. Would love to see Franks’s Boots Patriot, White’s Mule Packer or Line Scout (the old Hawthorn line), and one of the Parkhurst models. All
I love these analysis videos. I do woodworking work inside, usually standing, but on wooden floors. My work boot (and some casual wear) preferences are Whites (semi dress and cruiser), JK 300s, Trumans (cap toes) and Red Wings (cap toes and moc toes). The Whites are pricy but built to last for years and are rebuildable. The JKs are top-quality as well, and price-wise within spitting distance of similar Red Wings. Truman boots-like Red Wing-use top quality leather (2.2-2.4mm thick leather) and they use old-style lasts. I love the Truman 79 last fit and look as well as Red Wing #8 last. Red Wing has some great leathers; I wish they would make an iron ranger with a nice thicker leather midsole.
Keep up the great work/content!
I just subscribed to this Anvil 2 channel, and like seeing your Q & A's. I have the Red Wing 1907s and the Grant Stone Reverse Snuff Kudu field boots. I think they're a couple of the best looking moc toe boots around. It might be interesting to do a Q & A on viewers preferences of which boots they prefer to wear fashion-wise!
If I'm being honest, these Q&As are awesome! Keep up the fantastic work Weston and Team! :D
Thanks for being honest. That really clarifies that you are, in fact, not lying
What a hot take. Thanks for the honesty. 😉
In my opinion the Q and A's are great!
I don’t have many words but I really enjoy your videos and information. God bless.
Such a great honest show. Cheers.
Hell yea! Thanks for answering my question! Video was great!
I think you could have a general podcast about a variety of topics if you wanted. I think the people that watch for the boot reviews end up seeing your personality shine through and would tune in for your take on any topic.
Looking forward to the Wesco video!
Speaking of work boots, the ones you see a lot on the jobsite outside of Thorogood and Red Wing are Irish Setters. They're just a bit more affordable and most get either the Ashby or Wingshooter (both moc toes). Keens have also had a surprising showing as well, I have their Cincinnati's and love them.
Love this video - so much quality information!!! 😍🤩👍🏾👌🏾
Good stuff! For future non-MITUSA boots, I would love to see more Ariat (Booker Ultra Western Boot specifically), and maybe a few other types of boots from REDBACK (The OMAHA boot is one I'm very curious about...looks a lot like a timberland style boot.)
I got Danner boots gonna have to look for your video on them , I’ve had some bad lucky with them lately with the welt splitting ( auto tech)
Can't wait for the great British boot off series. Any spoliers what brands you'll be doing?
Huge fan of both channels! Did you see the new version of White’s Perry boots with a wedge lug sole?
Really like the Q&A's! I do miss Toaster, hope he's doing well!
Excellent video, guys! In the future, I’d like to know your opinion on Charles F Stead’s suede. I often hear that suede is a lower-quality leather, but man, CFStead is something else! Their shrunken suede and repello are outstanding and tough, IMO. Cheers
Amen to sizing. Pushed towards the red wing because I can try them on locally, but really want to buy from a smaller maker. Kind of tempted to catch a flight to PNW to get sized. Also, wish the MITUSA series had a "regardless of price" category. I'm going to spend more time in my boots than anything else in my life.
Next year plz do the red wing work boots that are made in the US like the super soles, I would love to see what that clear sole looks like cut in half ! They have so much more than just heritage stuff
Yes please do dress boots - thanks for all the great videos
I remember when I first started working I bought a set of die hards because that's what my pops and grandpa wore .I now mostly wear throrogoods but been eyeing some pnw boots.
I would actually really enjoy seeing a pair of die hard cut in half
Q&A is great brotha
Still waiting on a Truman review brother!! Very anxious to hear your opinion and see what’s inside! I love what they do and I hope I’m not wrong!!! Lol
Watched this while putting my knife pocket on my drifters which just came in. These boots are beasts
Awesome video brother. I'd love to see a mitUSA video with pull on boots.
I don’t think I ever seen you do a video in the Russell moccasins. Would love to see one on their back country
I see a lot of blue-collar guys buying boots at the Red Wing store. They're just not buying heritage boots
I worked in redwings and most construction guys that would also but you’re right not heritage style.
When I was a concrete carpenter everyone either had redwings or thorogoods..
@alancuriel123456 Concrete carpenter?!?
Do you build formwork for concrete pours, etc? I've never heard it called that before, that's a lucrative job if you're good at it! 👍
@@mrkeogh yeah basically. I heard the term for guys who form work like for bridges and the like when I was in a carpenters union in my younger days.
I'd really like to see you cut through some dress boots, I've been wearing Florsheim and have had some of the most comfortable dress boots from them. It would be interesting to see how their leather sizes up to these heritage brands.
Oh boy I hope the blurred out Wesco is the Japanese WWII boot collab. Still upset I missed out on the ND1 so looking forward to the next collab.
About the sizing issue, where boots are all coming in different sizes from the different companies. I see this issue with clothing as well. So I tend to stick to certain brands so that I know how they are sized and I don't need to guess. I bought a pair of Danner boots and found they run small and narrow. So eventually I bought another pair of Danners and I got a half size up and wide width and they fit great. You can also buy some from Amazon Prime to try on and return them.
I'd love to see you do some Allen Edmonds versus Thursday versus Alden for their casual-dress style boots.
Looking forward to the dressy shoe reviews :)
Fantastic Q&A. Video suggestion: Would you consider doing a side by side video comparing the JK 300x (black) against the Nicks Tactical? Both are PNW boots with similar style. Is the Nicks Tactical really worth $170 more?
Drews Boots out of Oregon and Franks boots out of Spokane also have MITUSA boots for under $400 with the PNW heritage build
Drews are made in Mexico.
Ranks Thursday ahead of Redwing. LoL this guy is a comedian.
Yo Weston I just got my Muggs today and a Rowe wallet recently! Idk if the wallet is vechetta but it's some exquisite smelling veg tan! The muggs are seriously nothing less than awesome. I honestly rather wear them without socks cause the shearling is so cozy lol Also, the smell of horween leather is immaculate! It smells like the leather inside a new Lamborghini, coming from someone that has never been in a Lamborghini.
Love the MITUSA series.
Wondering if you ever want to do a European boot maker series? Lots of great bang for buck brands, such as meermin and yanko
Especially for us European watcher, for whom importing shoes from the US adds like 20% Taxes on top. (and yes, I still ordered a pair of Thursday Loggers, which I freaking love)
I'm wondering why a Brit doesn't do a channel
What about the Italian brand Moma?
Need to review Silverado Boots. No other channel has. Made in the USA,$250, look good and sound reasonable.
Thanks for answering my question!
Hey Weston I think you should try out the Red Wing Roughnecks or maybe a review? They're killer compared to the Moc, built on the same last, yet with a vibram lug sole they're on site right now!
Always been curious about Limmer hiking boots. They have been legend in the hiking boot community since at least the 80s and have a multi-year wait for their MITUSA boots. They now have some ready to order boots made in Germany for around $400 that I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a few times. Would love to see a Limmer boot review in the future. Also, curious about your thoughts about traditional hand sewn Maine moccasins from companies like Quoddy and Wassookeag. Thanks!
Hello, a tip look for the manufacturer Steinkogler from Austria here you can find shoes in this style and in outstanding quality cheaper. Steinkogler has shoes in its range that are made like they were made a hundred years ago and last forever. Greetings Robby
Do the Saint Laurent Lukas boots! Would be wild doing some designer boots
I don't think the French are ready for that video tbh
Excellent video per usual dude. You mentioned a few times how the Origin boot sources primarily domestic materials. My question would be: how much of RW boots use imported materials?
My other note would be that another difference between imported and domestic (U.S.) manufacturers would generally be worker QOL, wages, stricter safety and health regulations etc etc. I say generally because it seems most of the overseas boot makers you feature are very reputable, hand crafted, etc. and likely are not the same as the typical imported products. The point still is worth mentioning though
If I'm being honest, in my opinion this was a good video. Thumb up.
maybe do an "outdoor / hiking / hunting" leather boot series?
I've been buying Red Wing Moc Toe in Kangaroo since I can remember. I have four pairs currently, all with different soles for different purposes. I have wanted to try making my own boots for a while but, don't have all the tools needed and just can't justify the investment when I can still get good boots made for me at a reasonable price
Have you ever considered reviewing any UK made brogue Boots ? Loake , Church …. etc .
Should review the other Origin boots.
Love the content, are you planning to do an Indonesian boot series?
I love my 1000 mile boots. 😢 I'm sad to hear they don't hold up because mine are some of the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn. I would love to see this boot make a comeback.
The sizing was my only issue with ordering my Nick's tankers. I figured I sized correctly, but I was just a little bit too small. The boots were damn near spot on, but they were just too tight to where there was no breaking them in to be comfortable. Fortunately they do offer a resize, but I feel bad doing that because a fair bit went into making them. Fortunately when I ordered my Muggs, they were sized correctly, because having to do a return trip to the UK would have been kinda sucky. With the Nick's, it's just a short trip East for me.
Lmao glad I’m not the only vato living in the hood who appreciates your channels n boots but to clear some things up the air force stomping question was definitely about stomping people & the pacmaster vato probably sells weed or smokes alot of weed aka packs of weed are called packs (pacs)
What about Frank's Boots?
Go look at the franks Patriot boot. It’s $350 and built the same as any other PNW logger while still being made in USA.
Have you seen a pair cut in half? Are they Goodyear welts? Well have to check them out.....
Most Frank's are $500-$600.
They are a stitchdown PNW logger boot with leather heal stack, leather insole, leather midsole, 7-8 oz leather uppers. They keep cost down using the outer cuts of the hide where there might be some wrinkling or stretch marks or “less desirable” marks that you wouldn’t put in the $500-$600 boot. Made in the USA in the pacific north west. $350
Any thoughts about reviewing Thorogood's Postal line of boots and shoes?
I don’t know if you can even find them anymore but, ever look at Elkwoods from Sears? Or Diehards?
Do a Canadian one! I would recommend DURADERO boots
Which boot is most compatible with an orthotic insert? I have a 3/4 length hard plastic insert that I must wear and finding shoes that work with it is difficult.
I know this is a qna about USA made, but you mentioned Italian made boots and you haven't reviewed Alico boots from Sierra Trading Post. They are only sold in the US through them I think. Thoughts on Alico boots?
Scout rush is a term from CSGO. Counter strike global offensive. You get a budget sniper named the scout which has super fast speed when scoped in. And 100% accuracy too
Any plans to dissect the Redwing weekender chukkas??
Are you planning on reviewing Limmer boots?
Can u cut open n examine the Ugg Biltmore mid and workboot style.
Have you cut a boot with a met guard in half before? I'd love to see the Carolina 505 cut in half sometime
Can you cut in half the whites Millwood? I got them because they're the most affordable work boot from the brands that are normally recommended. I'd like to see how and why they're at their current price point and their comparative value.
Also the d size is a little wide I have "ski feet" if you will 😄 I think that's something to consider having come from climbing low volume is a thing thanks for the content 👍
Any experience or requests to do Parkhurst or Rancourt? Any opinions on either?
My wolverine 1000 mile were only $160... new
Agreed that bootmakers need to universalize sizing
Can you do a hiking boot series
Hey, how about doing a review on Piloti shoes.
A British Boot Off would be great. Solovair, William Lennon, Loake, Cheaney, Grenson, Barker, Hoggs, Sanders, Trickers, Alfred Sargeant, Crockett & Jones... I'd have said Church's but they're priced up with the top tier now & unaffordable. There's a good few other companies making desert boots and the like, e.g. Crown Northampton and Jadd
I’m simultaneously disappointed with myself and glad that I hadn’t checked out the 2nd channel before this as it means there’s a bunch of extra content to consume. This Q&A video was really enjoyable. The casual nature of it, very different from the algorithmically streamlined main channel vids, really shines through. I felt like I should have cracked open a beer and kicked my feet up while watching. Plus it was a nice way to recap vids I’d watched months ago. Kudos.
Hoping for a logger boot comparison with redwing, thorogood, and carolina. Best logger without buying PNW
I bought the Origins, 8" Built Boot, last fall and wore them as my winter boot. Only complaint is that they are not high-instep friendly. Every time I put them on I was slowly pulling the eyelets out. I had them fixed, sold them, and moved on to Jim Greens. Much more high-instep friendly.
Excuse my retardation, but what is the instep? The arch? I was thinking abt origins next. I’ve got thorogoods, wings and wanna try origins…….but…..
@@jimmylarge1148 The top of your foot. Above the arch. I have tall feet
I would say that in construction work, I’ve seen more red wings boots then anything else but maybe it’s different in other states.
Have you ever reviewed the eric clapton Redwing?
Not sure why the American made Benneville combat boots never are talked about....ive been wearing them for 20 years exclusively every day. Generally find them from former soldiers or surplus supply for around $50 unworn or slightly used and they last from 3-5 years. Hard to beat that for value and you can get summer vented ones or waterproof gortex. Not that I'm not completely sold on the bison JKs and am planning on a couple different pairs of those...
Belleville?
No, Wesco and Viberg are not last ones. There is Frank with his Frank’s Boots (true Nick’s basically). Best of the best from PWN. Try his boots!
Patiently awaiting a Hathorn built into a Type 1 Commander from Franks. I have 2 Pairs of Jks so super excited to see the difference 😊
How do the perry whites compare to the jk 300s?
Any thoughts about reviewing a Truman boot?
Have you checked out Oak Street bootmakers?
Hey Weston,
Would love for you to review Silverado Lumberjack Boot. American made, American components. 5-6 oz leather. Goodyear welted. Price on boot barn $197 on their website $247. How do they do it?
Also, Milwaukee boot co. American made and they have a moctoe version. Leather upper and goodyear welted. Their price, $169.
Would love to see these cut in half and see how they do it! And give them some traction and recognition.
how about Georgia boots ,what do you think about them?
17:45 Scout Rush is a tactic in the RTS game Age of Empires
Some European hiking boots would rank pretty high on durability too i would imagine. As thick if not thicker leather uppers but im not sure if they got alot of leather in the midsole
Danner would be another good one to do at some point. I think they’re made in the US, and it looks like an interesting comparison to the Jim Green Razorbacks or Baobab boots since they’re both stitchdown construction with a rubber cemented sole. Is Danner worth $500 when Jim Green is out there?
I don't think Jim Green and Danner are that similar. The $500 Danners are boots like the Super Rainforest. As far as I know, Jim Green doesn't make anything at that level. Jim Greens are of course way cheaper so may be a better value, but it depends what you need them for.
I hadn’t looked at Danner’s website and was sort of guessing at the price. But the Mountain Light is $440. I think that’s their classic hiking boot. It looks nearly identical to the Razorback. I don’t own either of these boots, but at one point I was really lusting after the Danners-something about that classic hiking boot look. I’m sure there are differences between the two. What I love about rose anvil is we get to see those differences in close detail.
Some Danners are made in the US. Some say made in the USA but are mostly made overseas but have just enough work done in the US to be called made in the USA. I like Danners and used to visit their outlet store a lot when I worked nearby. BTW, they are owned by 5he same company that owns whites.
@@Kingfisher1215 That's not how FTC rules work. If something says "made in the USA" it has to be "all or virtually all" US components. There are imported Danners and Danners made from imported components yes, but they're labeled either made in China/Infonesia/whatever" or "Assembled in USA" or "Made in USA of imported components."
they should be good, they are one of the few companies that make the standard issue boots for the armed forces
You’ve got to check out the new Drew’s logger boots for $350 , from what I’m seeing it’s the best value of any stitch down boots!!!!!
The Frank's Patriot I would argue is even better for the same price
