I was a part of this choir. I have still not been able to even process this experience to South Africa. It was beyond mind blowing. Is is one that I will cherish forever and will never forget.
@Abigail Moore fully agree and the pronouncing of words was on point🙌🙌🙌 👏
Bro, thanks man! They're legit!!
@@abigailmoore1811 yeah very, I just subscribed lol
Robert T Gibson Music I sang this with my college choir two years ago and it has been a song that I cherish to this day. Even as I’m listening to you guys sing it in South Africa, I’m literally getting goosebumps of the passion, the emotion and the meaning you are portraying as you sing. God bless and peace be with you, my friend ✌🏻🙏🏻❤️
@Robert T Gibson Music great to find some connections here. I performed your version of "Amazing Grace" earlier this year at TMEA All-State Choir (tenor-bass). And now I find u here singing one of my favorite choral songs I have discovered. 👏👏👏
In memory of my best friend who lost her battle with covid 19
Who's here 2024?❤
Me
I want this exact group to sing at my funeral
I am not religious. But every single time I listen to this I am connected with the divine for a few minutes. Haunting. Well done.
I cant listen to this song without being brought to tears. it's just so perfectly composed. how just incredibly simple and beautiful.
When I reflect on the lyrics too, it brings tears.
I sung this song with my high school choir, and it moved us all to tears, even my director. This was his last concert with us, and we all loved having him. I can't wait to start this fall at MSU.
Honestly, I don't know how anyone can listen to this spectacular arrangement by Michael Barrett of this beautiful traditional Xhosa hymn without tears in their eyes. Most beautiful piece of choral music ever.
It's a supernatural piece. Thixo!
It's actually isiZulu not isiXhosa as ndodana in isiXhosa is nyana, Nkulunkulu is Thixo, baba is Tata. Beautiful song.
@@truesouth6532 Interesting. Most descriptions I have seen with this say isiXhosa.
@@richardlogan1021 yes I've seen that also, not sure why. The two languages are quite similar but there's words that distinguish one from the other like the ones I've highlighted.
@@richardlogan1021 Indodana means son.
As a musician, I appreciate the most music that moves me. This choir singing this song does that in spades. Simply amazing in every respect! The chord at 3:29 gives me goose bumps!
Wooow, You guys nailed it. I'm South African and I honestly couldn't tell that this was being persomed by Americans.
A pure, raw naked representation of the emotional sorrow and despair a father feels at losing a son. Whether one is religious or not, this piece does not draw at the heartstrings; it shatters them. Such a beautiful, performance. Thank you.
It’s actually the pain a mother feels.
This is about the crucifixion of Jesus
I love how they paid attention to detail even with the lyrics and pronunciation of the words... you guys did well 😢😢😢😢
Say that again and louder; I also noticed the respect that they gave to this precious song, to the last detail.
Didn't know I could hear color. Wow.
When the hands came up........chills
Same 😭😭😭😭😭
I am speechless 😭😭 quite literally... All I can say is how speechless I am😭😭 the diction, the blending, the majesty tampered with tenderness. I'm not Christian, but this is what I imagine heaven would feel like. Love from South Africa💕💕💕
Mr L Jali wrote a breath taking peace here. I love this song❤️
Bekangasiyedwa🤞🏾
Thank you so much for this, crediting people for their work is so important.
One of the best interpretations ever of Indodana. Thank you.
This choir sings this piece so beautifully. It brings peace to my heart. Amazing!
My school chorale just performed this piece last week (of me posting) and the chills of this song is absolutely amazing, it raises hairs all over. Absolutely beautiful!
I remember singing this at Lee with Dr. LaBarr! What a beautiful piece. I'm so glad this recording was one of the first to pop up when I searched for it! Fantastic.
Had the magnificent pleasure of performing Siyalobola Gogo under the direction of Mr. Cameron Labarr. He is amazing at his job and has extreme passion for what he does.
Stunning. Stunning. You got it all just right -- enough power, the crystal high soprano. All of it. Right up there with Stellenbosch and Tuks Camerata. And you sang it with obvious love and respect for its African roots. That is a critical part of performing this miraculously beautiful piece of music. But, you have to tell us how it felt to sing the most beautiful piece of choral music ever written.
I need somebody's marching band to do this as a warm-up!!!!!!
I did this song for my 8th grade Choir. It was really fun! ^^
my high school choir is doing this song and i absolutely love it

Excellently done, considering it's a South African song, done by Americans.

Not as good as stellenbosch but still good. Stellenbosch is a South African choir sooooo
This is better than Maties, timing much better for portraying the emotions. Tuks does it the same way and it is awesome
Are there many isiXhosa speakers where Stellenbosch is?
Stellenbosch was a bit sharp. These guys stayed perfectly in tune with ringing chords!!!
Not many isiXhosa speakers in Coffs Harbour, I reckon. The true beauty of this vocal wonderment is not inhibited by not understanding the words, or by comparing the performances. God speaks whenever Indodana is sung.
You should hear Tuks version it's amazing more than Stellenbosch
the bass part kinda boring
