- Never underestimate the Scion FRS / Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86. I think it's still the BEST platform for learning rear wheel drive dynamics as a novice track day enthusiast.

Fenton, this was dope, thanks for having me. Let's do a comparison when you get your new GR86 or BRZ
What new GR86/BRZ???????????? ?? ?
@@Zygrene Hahaha so what color did you get. Been wanting one too.
I did not expect to escape B&B and Pathoma for car UA-cam and find you here lol. The crossover I never expected
@@Kona61 wait same LOL I didn't notice until your comment
@@nawfalkamal4675 I was just happily watching and then I suddenly was like, he seems a little TOO familiar lol.
Love guys like him who just takes a good capable car and just track it for all the personal entertainment… money spent on tires, brakes and track time. Not to impress anyone.
Optimizing for smiles per gallon
100% agree. BRZ/FRS/86 is a great driving vehicle that really teaches you good skills for RWD performance driving.
A oil cooler and proper oil changes on these cars is essential seen to many FRS/BRZ mechanically totaled out due to the FA20 being so expensive to get as a used motor almost 5K.
Can't wait for people to start crashing the new ones. The FA24 will be a popular swap for the 1st gen once prices come down
don't forget a baffled oil pan. you'll starve the engine of oil if you turn right too hard.
These cars are honestly so unpredictable and unreliable for what I've researched
This platform is a gem for any new driver.
I've had my 2017 4.5 years and have out nearly the same mileage on it 😁😆.
The engagement from the twins is what I love about them. 100kmh on backroads in a twin vs some other more refined and isolated sports cars makes me appreciate my car more.
I have one of these in grey,I got it after selling my NA Miata. I love it
Supercharger is absolutely the way with these if you want more power. Bad fuel economy comes if your driving it hard but the trade off is actually pretty small
Watching this on the driver seat of my frs waiting on my plates lol.
Getting rid of the sound pipe from the engine bay to the cabin helps a little with the sound (added benefit of the old TRD air intake swap).
I was gonna say brave running catless headers in CA, but then I saw the Nevada plates LOL
Its not that bad, been on catless for the last 2.5 years in cali.
I’ve been debating whether to invest into a s2k or get an frs/brz for awhile now. I really enjoy the practicality of the 86 platform since it’d be my daily but then again the shifter and vtec engine enjoyment of a s2k wouldn’t get old. S2000’s aren’t gonna stop going up in price.. but I don’t feel like I’m in the right position because I already have a garage kept weekend car.
You also may feel like you have to baby the S2K since it will be an investment in your mind. You might not be able to bring yourself to beat on it the same way you would with an FR-S?
If it’s your 2nd car S2000 all the way. Just drive one and let the experience make the decision for you. Looking back I made the mistake of trying to DD an AP2 then an AP1.
S2k has a better engine but the frs/brz probably has a better chassis. I've never been much of a fan of Subaru boxer 4's.
I have both an 2013 frs and an 00 s2000. The frs is the daily and the s2k is the weekend car. I don't feel worried about the s2k's reliability, it feels like a very solid car. I've driven the frs for about 80k and haven't had a single issue. I took it for the recall to a dealership I used to work at and it was done by a friend, so I knew I wouldn't have any problems.
I have owned both and I will say if its a 2nd car s2000 but if its your only car it should be an 86. The 86 has better practicality, MPG, interior and more tire/wheel/pad/aftermarket options. While the S2000 is more fun you really dont lose that much in terms of driving experience. S2000 has the better engine and transmission but the 86 makes up for it with the better steering feel and balance.
Its a shame there are no clean frs’s anymore
God I miss mine!😢now I want one again!
Woah never been so early
now that I've watched the entire thing I think in a year or two these cars will be worth even less than they were at the end of 2019 and the S2000 will still be deep into $20,000 territory so probably a clean lower mileage AP1. But the new one for AP2 money from the factory is probably the right answer I'm glad to see these that these cars are holding up the way the are as I am seriously considering Selling My 1.8 NA Miata for down payment money on a new one.
my dude got a white 86 because of initial D haha.
But in all seriousness, isnt' the turbo 4 supra already in the space where a turbo 86 would be? I feel like with the supra, an 86 turbo would be redundant
Sorta yeah, id say thats why they bumped up the motor size on the GR instead of turbo, and honestly im feeling that vibe im thinking im not even gonna boost mine. I have an frs
For manual diehards like me, the 8AT Supra just isn't an option
@@Zygrene that to still can't believe they did that bs
Cool owner! He sounds like Camissa hahah
I have a 2016 FRS in pearl white, replaced the stock exhaust with an invidia N1. If thats 20K canadian maybe mine would be worth 25K since it only has 40 000 kilometres on it!
Gearing seems nice and close
What car holder/charger is that?
Nice Ride!
how much should i spend on one?
This or a 996?
Agreed 👍
Nothing compares to an S2K experience. I’d rather spend the extra money on a new GR86/BRZ rather than a used example.
S2k is over rated…heavy torqueless convertible…
@@zcmdzpp127 name something better in that class or price range.

Oh God. Stop encouraging the f bois from getting this overrated car.
Lol.. dude. Your car was made for women to drive to the mall.... You don't get to talk.
