I purchased the Prowler last year. Did the bearing trigger mod and changed the scope and mounts. Put a UTG BugBuster 3-9x32 AO. Tack driver out to 30 yards. I haven't shot any further
I bought one a few months ago, was so impressed with the accuracy and power, I put a UTG 3x9x40 mildot on it. Also did the bearing mod on the trigger. Awesome gun, the scope cost more than the rifle, but definitely worth it.
tat2bruce did you keep any springs from the trigger? I did the same mod and noticed there is almost no 1st stage and what it does have is very squishy if that makes sense? Bearing works nice but it doesn’t have any tension in 1st stage. Might put the spring with the pin back in the trigger... I think that gives it the 1st stage tension.
I just got a Benjamin Prowler .22 and it came with that stupid plastic SBD square silencer and I doubt it works but I’d rather have this. Wonder if I can take that plastic piece of junk off and replace it with this? I put a UTG leapers barrel droop compensator on and I definitely want to change the trigger out. The safety on this is atrocious!! Nice video just what I was looking for 👌
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Watched it today. Funny that you mentioned the Crosman Redtail because I just shot it this afternoon. Over a period of several years I went totally nuts and bought over a hundred air guns! Most I hardly shot at all and never got them zeroed in. So the last couple of weeks I've been shooting away and getting familiar with them and it was Redtails turn today as well as my .177 Gauntlet, Umarex .22 Fuel, and the Hatsan Model 95 .22. That last one is a beautiful gun and I'll probably shoot it somemore tomorrow. Actually, the Redtail shot pretty good. Felt kinda like the Umarex Ruger Blackhawk. Don't remember what it cost, but I liked it's looks, Ha! Hope you are doing OK! R
Sounds alot like me but I dont have as many air guns lol... and you are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video, please if you havent already feel free to subscribe and check out my other videos. I do plan on doing more once I get the time to do them.
Been thinking about getting a break barrel in .22 caliber, and this Prowler seems to get good reviews. Now that I see this person makes a moderator for it, I am very interested. So, the stock moderator on the Prowler can be pulled off with a little force and twisting motion? I was not aware it could even be removed. It makes the Prowler noticeably quieter? I am thinking of using the Prowler for longer range night ratting. Like maybe 15-20 yards out from our chicken coop. With the moderator, I hope it would be quiet enough. My neighbors are aware of my ratting at night, and target shooting in the day time, but, still, I don't want to be very loud especially at night.
The moderator does help with the sound and yes the factory handle just twists and pulls off. In my video I'm shooting my groups at a distance of 23 yards and I get really good sized groups. As for overall noise most break barrels will be loud to the shooter because of the piston being right beside your face when it slams forward. For me the prowler with the moderator on it would work out for night time ratting but it will also depend on how close your neighbors are and how much noise they will accept.
I can say I purchased the Ruger Impact Max .22 from Wally world. First the wood stock is awesome, trigger needs to be worked on. Accuracy was great" I shoot long range powder guns" and mean awsome accuracy. Then the piston, I think , came loose, no tool to suppress spring. Second Ruger shot so far left I couldn't set 2 different scopes to point of aim. So now the Prowler and it is doing ok so far. Great videos. Keep'm coming.
I don't know what it is about the benjamin destroyers, but my swarm loves them. I stocked up on those things. They group just as good as the H&N FTTP copper plated pellets and will crush a squirrels skull! Just make sure to wash and lube them. They have a lot of fowlings in the container.
Thank you for watching and yeah they do well in the prowler i haven't tried them in the swarm i haven't shot the swarm since it started jamming every pellet.
Putting one on a break barrel isnt as effective as putting it on a pcp gun because you still have the sound of the piston flying forward making that bang sound, but it really does work on reducing the sound out of the muzzle, which for me is what I care about. If you decide to get one from froggy please let him know I sent you it may help you out some.
Thanks bro nice review I was actually thinking of getting one for my Walther terrus. 22 its actually not that loud but my neighbors are very close, I think it will help it more, I think its the same person you got your supressor on Ebay.
Awesome yeah I bought mine from froggy on ebay. Thank you very much for watching my video please feel free to subscribe and check out some of my other videos.
I hate alloy pellets they suck ! It’s more for show and marketing speed is insignificant if it’s going effect accuracy! I like heavy pellets I even use the 34gr beast from jsb from my np2 ‘s short range devastation on small game (especially rats 🐀) great 👍🏻 video by the way very informative might get a prowler .22 is the way to go for small game
I'm not much of a fan for alloy pellets either. But in some (mostly lowered guns) they do perform well. I prefer heavier pellets as well they tend to be more accurate at longer ranges.
Percy Gibson Jr thank you depending on time and the weather I will be doing a full review for the new scope this Saturday and I hope to get down to my moms next weekend and do the review for the maximus silencer.
Thanks for the link to froggys ebay ldc stuff. Looks like he's got one for my umarex gauntlet too. Bret, can you tell us how you removed the prowlers factory muzzle "handle" I don't see any set screws in it. Thanks
Hello Marc S you are very welcome. Also to remove the factory break from the prowler i put the stock between my feet and legs and then you twist and pull the factory brake off it just slips off and on. Thank you for watching!!!!
DAVE LYTLE I almost completely agree but I must point this out in my experience it's the best "break barrel" air rifle but not the best air rifle. And to get a better break barrel you will have to spend well over $250 in my opinion.
@@ronin1330 copper magnums if you can find em have given me good luck and are very hard hitters especially for hunting. Break barrels and pre charged pneumatic rifles seem to like em. Good luck. If you can't get the copper magnums heavier pellets are more accurate and delivers a harder punch to target or wild game.
It would be cool if the maker of that suppressor could make the suppressor the length of the entire barrel to beef up that skinny barrel it would make it easier to break the barrel and would look cool cosmetically
@@BretsCrappyShots can you recommend a good scope that will fit the gammo swarm maxim 10 shot I hate the adjustability I can't tell of it's even moving basically it sucks in my opinion lol
@@Joejunksitjunkremoval Make sure the scope is safe to use with magnum springers or the swarm will destroy them. An LDC won't help break barrel rifles as much because pellets are launched by spring action, not air like a Co2 or PCP gun. Didn't hit a 8x11 paper? Something is wrong.

Tko is the better one for sure. I have the one he's reviewing and it's not that great on my co2 2240 that's been modified. I have tko on all my other pcps
William Jarvis does he make one for the Benjamin Prowler.22 ? Because I just bought one today and it has the new plastic SBD barrel shroud which I’m sure makes it easier to cock but I would like to make this quieter if possible and use a real muzzle break as a handle to break the barrel.
To tell you the truth Bret, I don't know how you can hit anything with the stock Crosman trigger, even with the bearing modification. Spend the 33 dollars on a GRT-lll trigger and be done with it. If you have a steady hand or a small drill press you can modify the stock trigger with the two 4-40 screws like the GRT but, unless you already have the drill size, tap and screws, your better off just buying the new trigger.
Lol the prowler trigger to me really isnt that bad and after some time you learn exactly where it breaks. And the prowler to me is a cheap budget gun that does great the way it is. It's not a gun I want to spend money on.
I hear yah about spending the money but, now I'm doing 1/2 inch groups with H&N Field Target Trophy at 15 yards. Picked off a irritating woodpecker this a.m. on top of a telephone pole at 20 yards. A clean kill.
