It’s kinda crazy how Sucker Punch helped start the PS4’s life cycle with Infamous Second Son & ends it with Ghost of Tsushima.

The hillarious thing is the past two assassin's creed games weren't actually assassins. Odyssey and Valhalla aren't Assassin Creed games, at least not in the sense of you being a true assassin. Sure they make some attempt to try and tie it together but it's just not the same. And Japan has ninja, which are assassins and saboteurs by definition. So there's no reason for Assassins Creed to avoid Japan. Though now they'd need to make the game better than Ghost of Tsushima or at least on par with it, and I am very doubtful they could.
@@darkrite9000 They could do non assassin stuff just fine but the combat needs to be more realistic no more of these tanky as hell enemies for a samurai setting to feel right you and your enemies attacks need to be deadly only a few hits should kill them and you should be killed quickly from too many mistakes

This game definitely has the fastest loading screens I’ve ever seen. They’re practically non-existent at points.
You're not kidding. I have a base PS4 with its original hard drive. I can barely finish reading the tips in English, and flat out cannot get halfway through it in Japanese (I'm moderately literate lol)

Just finished the game, and for me it's a 10/10, no doubt the best game of ps4 era.
And not just the game itself the narrative is pure art.
The most impressive part is that it's a complete/finished game and no micro bullsht.
Games like this give me hope that after all this industry isn't all about money.
What makes this game better than most these days is it released finished.
The rest is just a really really really really big bonus.
Wish more studios would follow the path these sony developers seem to be good at going down. Which is delivering good, finished games.

@@ty_-je8wf I'd def say its better than witcher 3, the only game that can compete with got is rdr2 witcher 3 had the most boring and dull protagonist ever and the combat mechanics were clunky asf that the fighting was a chore for me but in got I wanna keep doing combat because of the smooth mechanics.
I absolutely love this game. It's like SP actually listened to the top five complaints of every gamer and fixed them. This game just works, it's fun as hell and I've spent hours just wandering around the map. I have no desire to rush trough it or make it to the next objective.

It’s funny: around the same time this got its PC port released, Ubisoft announced Assassins Creed Shadows. Now I’m genuinely interested to see how Ubisoft will royally fuck to what Sucker Punch damn near perfected.

I returned to this game on my PS5, as I abandoned it previously mid-2nd act, with Director's cut updrade and it blew me away. It is absolutely 10 out of 10 game in its final form. Lots of issues mentioned in the original review were fixed and next gen upgrade makes it amazing experience. I still believe it was 10 out of 10 game even at release but now it is one of best games ever made.
Agreed, it’s amazing on ps5. Absolute must buy if you own a ps5. I tried to play this initially on my ps4 but couldn’t get into it, gave directors cut a chance after getting a ps5 and now it’s one of my favorite games

Just picked this game up on a black friday sale. 20 bucks and I got the directors cut. I made my new game on lethal difficulty and jumped in blind. This is the most fun I've had with a video game in a long time :D

I just got it as well and have been drawn in. After three days last week of staying up until 2am with work the next morning I had to start limiting myself. What a phenomenal game.

A little late to the party but I picked up a PS5 about a month ago, started playing this as my first game and was just blown away by the story, character development, and of course the art, absolutely beautiful. The combat, attention to detail were incredible. Seeing Jin clean his sword before re-sheathing it was incredible, also seeing him run this hands through the flowers as I rode on my trustee companion, seems like something I'd do. Just a piece of art work. The story had me tearing up at parts and I had to remind myself it's just a game LOL.
If you haven’t already, please play Director’s cut. its just as good as Tsushima

Just beat the game, got emotional at the end, one of the most beautiful games I have played, Music was beyond epic and emotional, Story was Fantastic. this game was by far Game of the Year.
Ghost of tsushima reminds me of the old days when you would buy a game and get the full game not half of it cause you need a season pass or dlc or whatever bull they add for money. I miss the old days when i would only have to spend $60 for an entire game n not also pay 100 more for better gear etc.
Well to be honest a lot of Single player games have been released in the last decade with full content: God of War, Red Dead Redemption, Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us 1&2, Jedi Fallen Order, Shadow of the COlossus, The last guardian, Batman Arkham series, Tomb Raider, AC Odissey, Skyrim, GTA, Bloodborne. Some of them had DLC that actually expanded the game. In the case of AC Odyssey people actually complained that it was too big... Obviously if you look only at Multiplayer games that actually depend on constant money grabbing, then you are looking at the horrible part of gaming. But for me, that I only play SP games, PS4 is fucking heaven.
@Jonny B Oh shit lol, I forgot Spiderman and Ghost of tsushima. Also, The witcher and the Souls series. The DLC in every one of those games actually expand the game. Each Witcher DLC could be a single game on their own. People begged for DLC for God of war and Fallen Order. The bad fame of the DLC came with all MP games (Fighting, Shooters, Sports, and Battle Royale).

I’ve literally just finished the game, and I’m binge-watching the reviews for the game. I’m truly astonished how this game didn’t get the game of the year from the “critics” it’s literally perfect it’s good in some places but that doesn’t take from the fact that it deserved it.
It truly deserves it, but it doesn't need it. So many people love this game and it was players choice, which means the players not critics know how good this game is. GOTY doesn't mean anything to me anymore since several games who wasn't nominated for GOTY has a game of the year addition to them 😂

Playing this game in Lethal Mode (especially from the start) has made the combat look and feel completely different (sword spongey) than when reviewers played it. That difficulty is now essential for making GoT one of the most immersive open world-melee combat games to ever release.
I completely agree, me and my buddy played the game at the same time and when we first saw Lethal, we jokingly told each other to start on the hardest difficulty and we'll tone it down. But when we found out that the mode wasn't bullshit, but completely fair and the problem was only how bad we were, we fell in love with Lethal mode and never turned it down even on the final boss. I wish more games would do this and incentivize learning the mechanics
Just playing the Iki Island expansion was a refreshing wakeup call for me with the more versatile enemies. I might have to check out that harder difficulty.

This was one of the most addictive games I've ever played. It's been out for a year and I've completed everything on the map four times.
The gameplay loop was just perfect. Combat is a masterpiece. The loading is almost non-existent on ps5.
With Assassin's Creed Shadows now announced. I'm definitely going to compare it to this.

I can’t believe he didn’t talk about the fast travel. You click a destination, a load screen with a tip pops up, with a press X for next tip below it. I’ve never been able to see the next tip, barely enough time to read the tip that’s up there and your at your destination.
This game is so good in so many areas.

@@steppin-razor I remember when I died, I was Instantly put back (I plat the game while playing lethal) to the checkpoint and was surprised by how fast everything loaded in the world.
Now I started playing AC:Odyssey for the first time yesterday on Nightmare and when I die I'm staring at the loading screen for 50 seconds.
It's amazing how certain developers understand how to build their game for the console platforms and others just dont even bother

Replaying this game at the moment, it’s got to be one of my all time favourites. Hoping that SP can give us a sequel or a new infamous title.
A “ghost of” series could potentially replace assassins creed for me.
I found Jin interesting...at least to me, i mean bro lost his friends, people, his home, his uncle was kidnapped and was worried something might happen, his old friend betrayed him and had to kill him. He has a good heart, cares about his people and does what he thinks is right even if it means fighting dirty at times and the fact that he embraces that he's the Ghost of Tsushima was a moment for me because at first he thought it was silly and some kind of myth now that the Mongols fear him, he just accepts it and embraces it because to him it's a sign of hope and his people are on his side no matter what. So far I'm loving the game.
"A perfect end-cap to the ps4 era", these words sadden me just as they did for the ps3 era. Boys, were getting old.

If u fall off a cliff not on ur horse from a high distance u die and respawn, if u fall from the same distance on ur horse then no damage at all. And the archers, when they're alone they should use a different verbal que than when they have all their friends and are yelling them to duck or whatever. " Doja DOJA!!!" I’m happy to be a millennial and grow up in this ps4 generation. Im sad to see the ps4 generation end and sad to see this game end after I beat it but I am damn glad I got to experience this for myself. I played halo back on the 360 with my dad back in the day and when the ps4 came out we got it and hoped for the best and Sony freaking delivered. These past years have got to go down as the best years of video game history and some of the most fun, interesting, and inspiring years of my life. Thank you Sony, thank you Ghost of Tsushima, and thank you Sucker Punch for a perfect end of a phenomenal era🙏

I'm so happy, as a PC player, to be playing this game. I've invested time studying japanese culture through my martial arts training, and the game really shows that dichotomy of fighting the honorable way and the dirty way (by standards of the time). Being a Rönin was a horrible punishment, it meant your lord disowned you and people saw you as the lowest possible human being.
Amazing game so far, I agree with the 9/10 with a massive badass seal of approval.

I really like Jin as a character. He says early on that, as a samurai, he was taught to control and suppress his emotions. That is why he's so stoic for most of the game.
However, if you pay attention, he does let some of his personality slip out every once in a while. I enjoy the moments where he gets relaxed enough to joke and banter with other characters.

I found that to be such a well written subtle detail and but too easy to be lost on people rushing through the game and not taking it all in
It's charming in a weird, but sincere way. For example, when travelling back to the Trapper's House with "Matsu", Jin casually drops a dad joke about sharing a horse when "Matsu" tells him to stay close.
Yeah I agree Jin is great. I want a sequel but I'd be sad to no longer be playing as him.

I didn't wanna watch this until I finished the game. I love this game SO MUCH! I didn't play until much later than release date because I was finishing other games. But holy fuck this is my personal game of the year (2020)!! So amazing, story deep, and heart-felt. You can tell they gave a lot of care when making this game.
Ghost of Tsushima was AMAZING! The story was phenomenal, character development was even better! I loved the variation of combat based on your armor. The growth of Jin and *uncle-daddy* Shimura was also just perfect. The DLC was just the cherry on top and it was well worth every dollar spent and then some. Iki island had great content and added to the story in a meaningful way. The story was dark, gritty, and harsh but I never felt like it was contradictory or ill placed. I found myself playing for hours and weeks and delayed ending the game as long as possible just to enjoy it longer. 20/10

There's a discussion with the creative director about alot of topics into the making of the game. Very revealing about the creative and iterative process. He does talk about how they came up with the wind. It's on youtube somewhere.

It's really good, Ghost of Tsushima came in my PS5 bundle, so did the GT7 insult and SpiderSomething, I didn't make much of it. I got the PS5 to play Red Dead Redemption 2, literally, but I played Ghost first because it came in the box already. Let me tell you, it was so good I postponed RDR2 until I fully liberated Tsushima. New game with lethal plus difficulty, broken armour and cursed charms, and on-line new content, it keeps the game fresh. I fell in love with this game too, I mean, how can you not?! And you're able to turn some things off, even simplifying further more the HUD, or lack of thereof. And the wind always blowing ... during the Mongol invasion by sea, the Japanese were helped by a great and sudden storm, the "divine wind", the "kami kaze" that sank most of the invading fleet, giving a hope for the resisting samurai clans. You can even name your horse Kaze. It's all so grounded and historically accurate, even the flaming sword, Jinn learns about it from a samurai guarding a "special stone", that sparked when striking the sword, igniting and burning the soaking oil on the blade. The story is so compelling and immersive, you'll remember pretty much every mission and side quest by the time you replay it, it's masterfully done. I just feel bad that it's a Sony exclusive, it's a masterpiece, should be enjoyed by all gamers.
The only issue I had with this game is I didn’t know there was different endings. So I avoided stealth entirely thinking I’d get a different ending. But tbh it just gives me a reason to go back and replay this beautiful master piece

I was super glad that the original game didn't have ANY supernatural stuff. Just as realistic as possible. With that said, I am looking forward to the DLC. Too many games have supernatural stuff these days. So it was really refreshing to play a game that wasn't full of all that magic and stuff. I would have liked to see more body parts being removed lol.. that one assassination is cool but I would have liked it to have that more in the regular combat.

I just started the game i know way late to the show! One thing that immediately stood out to me is I played for my entire day off and I’m only on main mission 4…. Everything’s so compelling so intriguing i cant help but stop at every side mission and even the small poonts of interest On the map i cant go more than 20 meters without finding something interesting to do. This is how all games should be!
